Gene characterization and phylogenetic analysis of four mitochondrial genomes in Caenogastropoda

Caenogastropoda is a highly diverse group,containing~60%of all existing *** in this subclass predominantly inhabit marine environments and have a high ecological and economic *** to the increase in relevant phylogenetic studies,our understanding of between species relatedness in Caenogastropoda has ***,the biodiversity,taxonomic status,and phylogenetic relationships of this group remain *** the present study,we performed next-generation sequencing of four complete mitochondrial genomes from three families(Buccinidae,Columbellidae,and Cypraeidae)and the four mitogenomes were classical circular structures,with a length of 16177 bp in Volutharpa ampullacea,16244 bp in Mitrella albuginosa,16926bp in Mauritia arabica asiatica and 15422 bp in Erronea *** composition analysis indicated that whole sequences were biased toward A and *** compared them with 171 complete mitochondrial genomes of *** phylogenetic relationship of Caenogastropoda derived from Maximum Likelihood(ML)and Bayesian Inference(BI)trees constructed based on CDS sequences was consistent with the results of traditional morphological analysis,with all three families showing close *** study supported Caenogastropoda at the molecular level as a separate clade of *** to our divergence time estimations,Caenogastropoda was formed during the middle Triassic period(~247.2–237 Ma).Our novel mitochondrial genomes provide evidence for the speciation of Caenogastropoda in addition to elucidating the mitochondrial genomic evolution of this subclass.

Temperature sensing is of high value in the wearable healthcare,robotics/prosthesis,and noncontact physiological ***,the common mechanic deformation,including pressing,bending,and stretching,usually causes undesirable feature size changes to the inner conductive network distribution of temperature sensors,which seriously influences the ***,inspired by the transient receptor potential mechanism of biological thermoreceptors that could work precisely under various skin contortions,we propose an MXene/Clay/poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM)(MCP)hydrogel with high stretchability,spike response,and deformation *** dynamic spike response is triggered by the inner conductive network transformation from the 3-dimensional structure to the 2-dimensional surface after water being discharged at the threshold *** water discharge is solely determined by the thermosensitivity of PNIPAM,which is free from mechanical deformation,so the MCP hydrogels can perform precise threshold temperature(32℃)sensing under various deformation conditions,i.e.,pressing and 15%*** a proof of concept,we demonstrated the applications in plant electronics for the real-time surface temperature monitoring and skin electronics for communicating between human and *** research opens venues for the accurate temperature-threshold sensation on the complicated surface and mechanical conditions.

AIM:To assess the performance of macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness(mGCIPLT)and 10-2 visual field(VF)parameters in detecting early glaucoma and evaluating the severity of advanced ***:Totally 127 eyes from 89 participants(36 eyes of 19 healthy participants,45 eyes of 31 early glaucoma patients and 46 eyes of 39 advanced glaucoma patients)were *** relationships between the optical coherence tomography(OCT)-derived parameters and VF sensitivity were *** with early glaucoma were divided into eyes with or without central 10°of the VF damages(CVFDs),and the diagnostic performances of OCT-derived parameters were ***:In early glaucoma,the mGCIPLT was significantly correlated with 10-2 VF pattern standard deviation(PSD;with average mGCIPLT:β=-0.046,95%CI,-0.067 to-0.024,P<0.001).In advanced glaucoma,the mGCIPLT was related to the 24-2 VF mean deviation(MD;with average mGCIPLT:β=0.397,95%CI,0.199 to 0.595,P<0.001),10-2 VF MD(with average mGCIPLT:β=0.762,95%CI,0.485 to 1.038,P<0.001)and 24-2 VF PSD(with average mGCIPLT:β=0.244,95%CI,0.124 to 0.364,P<0.001).Except for the minimum and superotemporal mGCIPLT,the decrease of mGCIPLT in early glaucomatous eyes with CVFDs was more severe than that of early glaucomatous eyes without *** area under the curve(AUC)of the average mGCIPLT(AUC=0.949,95%CI,0.868 to 0.982)was greater than that of the average circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness(cpRNFLT;AUC=0.827,95%CI,0.674 to 0.918)and rim area(AUC=0.799,95%CI,0.610 to 0.907)in early glaucomatous eyes with CVFDs versus normal ***:The 10-2 VF and mGCIPLT parameters are complementary to 24-2 VF,cpRNFLT and ONH parameters,especially in detecting early glaucoma with CVFDs and evaluating the severity of advanced glaucoma in group level.

Increased pathogenicity and aerosol transmission for one SARS-CoV-2 B.1.617.2 Delta variant over the wild-type strain in hamsters

During the two-year pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19), its causative agent, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2), has been evolving. SARS-CoV-2 Delta, a variant of concern, has become the dominant circulating strain worldwide within just a few months. Here, we performed a comprehensive analysis of a new B.1.617.2 Delta strain(Delta630) compared with the early WIV04 strain(WIV04) in vitro and in vivo, in terms of replication, infectivity, pathogenicity, and transmission in hamsters. When inoculated intranasally, Delta630 led to more pronounced weight loss and more severe disease in hamsters. Moreover, 40%mortality occurred about one week after infection with 10^(4)PFU of Delta630, whereas no deaths occurred even after infection with 10^(5)PFU of WIV04 or other strains belonging to the Delta variant. Moreover, Delta630outgrew over WIV04 in the competitive aerosol transmission experiment. Taken together, the Delta630 strain showed increased replication ability, pathogenicity, and transmissibility over WIV04 in hamsters. To our knowledge, this is the first SARS-CoV-2 strain that causes death in a hamster model, which could be an asset for the efficacy evaluation of vaccines and antivirals against infections of SARS-CoV-2 Delta strains. The underlying molecular mechanisms of increased virulence and transmission await further analysis.

The Frequency of Infectious Diseases in Manzhouli Port from 2012 to 2014

The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of infectious diseases among people entering/exiting via Manzhouli port. We analyzed infectious disease data from the Manzhouli international travel Health care center covering 2012 through 2014, as well as performed several laboratory tests to measure rates of infection. The frequencies of infectious diseases as well as their association with occupation and year of occurrence were calculated for people entering and exiting via the port. The total proportion of infectious diseases measured was 2.18%. Hepatitis B was the most commonly occurring at 1.68%, followed by syphilis, hepatits C and HIV, which were 0.23%, 0.21% and 0.04%, respectively. Contract workers, traffic staff, foreigners and those married abroad were more likely to be infected. Furthermore, there were significant differences among three years. Strategies should be developed and preventive policies should be implemented aimed at protecting the at risk populations at Manzhouli port, especially with regard to contract workers, traffic staff, foreigners and those married abroad.

On the basis of a brief introduction of essential major dements and trace dements for cut rose, the physiological effect and deficiency and excess phenomena of major elements including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, sulfur and trace dements including zinc, molybdenum, boron, iron, manganese, copper were mainly described; the main factors influencing nutrients absorption of cut rose were summarized, in order to provide a reference for the reasonable fertilization of cut rese.

Objective To investigate the attitude and sexual behavior status and change among HIV positive female workers in entertainment sites in Kaiyuan city, Yunnan province, China. The key information should be applied in the integrated intervention program in future. Methods A cohort survey among HIV positive female workers was conducted during 12 months, between 2010 and 2012. All the risk sexual behavior and attitude were collected for assessment for the potential secondary transmission to sexual partners. Results Of 99 HIV positive women who sell sex in Kaiyuan city, 99 participated in the survey at baseline, 80, 80, 75, and 75 at 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-month follow-ups. The percentage of participants who reported consistently used condoms in the last one month ranged between 94.5% and 95.5%. The client volume in the last one month, income per sex and age group were significant related with non-insistent condom use with their clients. Conclusion It was suggested that integrated intervention program package should include 100 percent condom use promotion for the HIV positive FSW with all sexual partners, and also, include socially support involved.

Arboviral encephalitis is a group of animal and human illness that is mostly caused by several distinct families of viruses including orthobunya virus, phlebovirus, flaviviruses, and the alphaviruses. Although specific signs and symptoms vary by the type of central nervous system (CNS), initial signs and symptoms are very similar. Therefore rapid immunologic and molecular tools for differential diagnosis of arboviral encephalitis viruses are important for effective case management and control of the spread of encephalitis. The qRT-PCR assay, especially multiplex PCR, has the potential to produce considerable savings in time and resources in the laboratory detection. Meanwhile, the use of IC can prevent false negatives effectively by monitoring the processes of nucleic acid extraction and amplification. This report describes the development of a panel of internally controlled multiplex one-step real-time RT-PCR assays in which two virus specific-probe sets were used in the same reaction for the detection of 15 species arboviral encephalitis viruses: the comparative sensitivity of multiplex one-step qRT-PCR assays to single plex one-step qRT-PCR assays as well as one-step RT-PCR assays for detection of each viral species. And total of 150 human serum samples were detected to evaluate the multiplex one-step qRT-PCR assays. These multiplex one-step real-time RT-PCR assays with IC were evaluated in terms of sensitivity, linearity, precision, specificity, and also field samples including serum and vector. These assays can detect and differentiate arboviral encephalitis viruses by high throughput, sensitive, and specific way. It is useful for clinical management and outbreak control of arboviral encephalitis viruses and vector surveillance.
