In response to the increasing penetration of volatile and uncertain renewable energy,the regional transmission organizations(RTOs)have been recently focusing on enhancing the models of pump storage hydropower(PSH)plants,which are one of the key flexibility assets in the day-ahead(DA)and real-time(RT)markets,to further boost their flexibility provision *** by the recent research works that explored the potential benefits of excluding PSHs’cost-related terms from the objective functions of the DA market clearing model,this paper completes a rolling RT market scheme that is compatible with the DA ***,with the vision that PSHs could be permitted to submit state-of-charge(SOC)headrooms in the DA market and to release them in the RT market,this paper uncovers that PSHs could increase the total revenues from the two markets by optimizing their SOC headrooms,assisted by the proposed tri-level optimal SOC headroom ***,in the proposed tri-level model,the middle and lower levels respectively mimic the DA and RT scheduling processes of PSHs,and the upper level determines the optimal headrooms to be submitted to the RTO for maximizing the total revenue from the two *** case studies quantify the profitability of the optimal SOC headroom submissions as well as the associated financial risks.

This paper is a revised version of a seminal paper, written as early as 1986, that introduces the concept of contemplative psychology as a psychology that is an intrinsic part of the contemplative traditions of most world religions. It refers to the psychological insights and methods that are-often implicitly-present in the spiritual traditions themselves. The paper delineates this psychology as a psychology in its own right and in dialogue with the conventional view of psychology and science. Later research by the author has been published in two books entitled Contemplative Psychology and The Spiritual Path： An Introduction to the Psychology of the Spiritual Traditions.

This research is derived from my doctoral thesis undertaken at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, which provided the first in-depth comparison of printed representations of Catholic and Protestant martyrdom in Tudor England since the work of McGrath and Dickens during the 1960s. In this article, a martyr is defined as one who bore witness to persecution during the Tudor Reformation （c. 1530-1600）, and who ultimately died for his or her beliefs rather than abjure. The main themes discussed were issues of continuity and change： To what extent did Protestant depictions of martyrs draw upon pre-Reformation ideas？ Were they a radical break from the past; or did they represent gradual evolution and transition in which some older beliefs were perpetuated, some were reinterpreted allegorically, and others were abandoned and replaced with new representations？ Novel contributions to the historiography include the representation of non-martyrs （individuals who failed to gain full recognition in Catholic or Protestant martyrologies）, Puritan efforts to supplant pre-Reformation rituals derived from what Duffy termed the cult of saints with abstract Old Testament inspired sermons, and the depiction of persecutors＇ untimely deaths as evidence of divine providence and the illegitimacy of rival churches. Although firmly grounded in history, my methodology also incorporated elements from other disciplines, especially gender studies, death studies, religion, philosophy, and some aspects of art history. In particular, I have examined the language of inversion, where exceptionally courageous female martyrs were portrayed with the masculine virtues of courage, analytical rationality or self-control, and allegedly negative feminine traits such as cowardice, deceit, treachery, or sexual misconduct were used to shame and discredit clergymen from rival religious groups or sects. Giving/receiving is a basic frame for communication and cognition （Vaughan 2015）. Recent research shows that we are born with active intersubjeetive minds and that we unconsciously or pre-consciously select pertinent perceptions from a background of many others. researchers on salience, tell us that things seem to ＂pop out＂ from a background, calling our attention to them. Adults play games with babies, smiling, nodding, saying ＂boo,＂ playing peep-eye. They ＂pop out＂ from the background, as gifts coming forward to be perceived as relevant. These games provide practice in recognizing salient events. They are prototypes for later games like throwing and catching balls, which repeat the early schema of give-and-receive.

Human activity recognition is a recent area of research for *** recognition has many applications in smart homes to observe and track toddlers or oldsters for their safety,monitor indoor and outdoor activities,develop Tele immersion systems,or detect abnormal activity *** dimensions(3D)skeleton data is robust and somehow *** to this,it is one of the popular choices for human action *** paper proposed using a transversal tree from 3D skeleton data to represent videos in a *** proposed two neural networks:convolutional neural network recurrent neural network_1(CNN_RNN_1),used to find the optimal features and convolutional neural network recurrent neural network network_2(CNN_RNN_2),used to classify *** deep neural network-based model proposed CNN_RNN_1 and CNN_RNN_2 that uses a convolutional neural network(CNN),Long short-term memory(LSTM)and Bidirectional Long shortterm memory(BiLSTM)*** systemefficiently achieves the desired accuracy over state-of-the-art models,i.e.,88.89%.The performance of the proposed model compared with the existing state-of-the-art *** NTURGB+D dataset uses for analyzing experimental *** is one of the large benchmark datasets for human activity ***,the comparison results show that the proposed model outperformed the state-ofthe-art models.

Radio Signals from the DNA： A Philosophical Issue

This paper discusses the nature of electromagnetic radio signals and summarizes the advances in optogenetics and radiogenetics that have found a substantial number of genes in both humans and other species that can be activated by electromagnetic signals ranging from extremely low frequency （ELF） radio waves through to infrared radio waves as well as visible light and ultra-violet （UV） tremendously high frequency （THF） radio waves. The paper discusses the advances in nanotechnology where DNA is now being used in its capacity as a nanoscale semiconductor to act as the scaffold for supporting nanoscale integrated circuits. The research findings are presented that the DNA in vivo when it is immersed in water acts as a conducting nanowire with an alternating current （AC）. It is proposed that when there is an alternating current （AC） in the DNA it will be emitting electromagnetic radio waves at the same frequency as the alternating current. In addition, it is noted that brainwaves are extremely low frequency （ELF） radio waves and that the DNA as a conducting nanowire would act as a receiver or antenna for these ELF radio waves whereupon an alternating current would be generated in the DNA.

The pre-calling behavior of female adults of the common cutworm, Spodoptera litura （Lepidoptera： Noctuidae） collected in southern Japan and southeastern Asian countries was investigated. Most females started calling on days 1-4 after adult emergence. In three populations obtained in Saga prefecture in Kyushu mainland, Japan, two different patterns of pre-calling period （PCP） were observed： one was the above-mentioned pattern shown by most individuals, and the other was a pattern in which females sexually matured within several hours after emergence. Diel periodicity was shown in the time of calling activity, and its pattern varied among the populations. Pre-calling period was stable over successive generations in the laboratory.

Instead of merely inferring that our beliefs are in a correlation to the facts, I will contend that what matters is the logic of their inferential structure. This will reveal what is actually true for their relation and not just real for experience. Given one and two-sided inferences, the conditions of their functional relation will be consistent within a square of opposition; for contraries, contradictions and sub-contraries in a way that probability theory is not. Within this model of inferences, the two-sided concept of inferences will also have a modal value for its relation to the one-sided concept of inferences. Proposing that empirical, formal, speculative, and an Intuitionist Speculative understanding of logic will have a modal identity within a dialectical principle.

Ornithine transcarbamylase （OTC） deficiency is an X-linked trait that accounts for nearly half of all inherited disorders of the urea cycle. OTC is one of the enzymes common to both the urea cycle and the bacterial arginine biosynthesis pathway; however, the role of OTC has changed over evolution. For animals with a urea cycle, defects in OTC can trigger hyperammonemic episodes that can lead to brain damage and death. This is the fifth mutation update for human OTC with previous updates reported in 1993, 1995, 2002, and 2006. In the 2006 update, 341 mutations were reported. This current update contains 417 disease-causing mutations, and also is the first report of this series to incorporate information about natural variation of the OTC gene in the general population through examination of publicly available genomic data and examination of phenotype/genotype correlations from patients participating in the Urea Cycle Disorders Consortium Longitudinal Study and the first to evaluate the suitability of systematic computational approaches to predict severity of disease associated with different types of OTC mutations.

Shifting focus from the patient’s body to the healer’s body,this essay focuses on how Chinese physicians instrumentalized their bodies to heal(ie,body-as-technology)and their hands to think with(ie,hand-memory techniques or simply,hand mnemonics).When physicians used their hands to memorize concepts related to clinical practice,calculate with time variables,and carry out ritual gestures intended to reduce risk,improve fortune,and even cure,their hands became extensions of their *** essay has three parts that follow the discovery process of the author’s research on hand-memory techniques found in Chinese medical *** first part“Divination and Revelation”explains the significance of how the author first learned about Chinese divination practices that used hand *** second part“Original Frame”introduces the scholarship on arts of memory in Europe that informed interpretations of the earliest hand mnemonics found in Chinese medical *** third part“Expanded Frame”deploys some concepts from cognitive science to help situate Chinese medical hand mnemonics more broadly as an example of extended *** essay concludes with an important distinction:sometimes Chinese healers’hands were used separately from their bodies to think through things and sometimes hand and body had to be integrated in order for the healer’s body-as-technology to act as a therapeutically effective instrument.
