Mathematical modeling of icing process of the outer surface of the hull for a marine vessel

The task of studying the process of icing is important due to the operation of large ships and fishing vessels in the seas of the Arctic Ocean.In this paper the ice accretion simulation for fishing vessel has been done at different Reynolds and Froude numbers.A hybrid approach was used for modeling:first,the approach based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)model and volume of fluid(VOF)method with interDyMFoam solver was used for ship modelling in waves,second,RANS model and Euler-Lagrangian approach with iceFoam solver for ice accretion process modelling for ship with hull was applied.The k-ωSST turbulence model with wall functions was used for the RANS model.With the help of the interDyMFoam solver,the position of water jet and liquid droplets in space were determined during the movement of the ship and taking into account the waves in the sea.With the help of iceFoam solver,the process of ice accretion on the surface of the vessel was modeled.The calculations were run for different number Reynolds,Froude.The analysis of mesh convergency was done.The distribution of ice thickness and water film on the ship’s surface is obtained.The simulations were performed on a high-performance cluster in parallel mode.

The occurrence of illegal medicines is a well-established global problem and concerns mostly small molecules. However, due to the advances in genomics and recombinant expression technologies there is an increased development of polypeptide therapeutics. Insulin is one of the best known polypeptide drug, and illegal versions of this medicine led to lethal incidents in the past. Therefore, it is crucial for the public health sector to develop reliable, efficient, cheap, unbiased and easily applicable active pharmaceutical ingredient(API) identification and quantification strategies for routine analysis of suspected illegal insulins. Here we demonstrate that our combined label-free full scan approach is not only able to distinguish between all those different versions of insulin and the insulins originating from different species, but also able to chromatographically separate human insulin and insulin lispro in conditions that are compatible with mass spectrometry(MS). Additionally, we were also able to selectively quantify the different insulins, including human insulin and insulin lispro according to the validation criteria, put forward by the United Nations(UN), for the analysis of seized illicit drugs. The proposed identification and quantification method is currently being used in our official medicines control laboratory to analyze insulins retrieved from the illegal market.

We successfully synthesize four kinds of ZnO nano/microcrystals including dumbbell microrods, nanoflakes, nanoplates, and microrods by a simple wet chemical method. Growth duration is found to play a crucial role in the morphologies of these ZnO nano/microcrystallites. In addition, growth conditions are systematically studied as a function of precursor concentration and temperature. The structural and optical characteristics of the ZnO samples are further investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and photoluminescence spectroscopy.

This study pursues the objective of analyzing and verifying the knowledge of the agents of the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique/isp-Bukavu (TTC = Teachers’ training College) in relation to the practical flaws resulting from the lack of knowledge of the observable rules in information system security. In a clearer way, it aims to verify the level of knowledge of the vulnerabilities, to verify the level of use of the antivirus software, to analyze the frequency of use of Windows update, the use of an anti-spyware software as well as a firewall software on the computer. Through a survey conducted on a sample of 100 agents of the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique/isp-Bukavu (TTC = Teachers’ training College), the results revealed that 48% of the sample has no knowledge on computer vulnerabilities;for the use of antivirus software: 47% do not use the antivirus;for Windows update: 29% never update the Windows operating system;for anti-spyware: 48% never use;for the firewall: 50% are not informed. In fine, our results proposed a protection model VMAUSP (Vulnerability Measurability Measures Antivirus, Update, Spyware and Firewall) to users based on the behavioral approach, learning how the model works.

The current study deals with exact soliton solutions for Schrödinger-Hirota(SH)equation via two modi-fied integration methods.Those methods are known as the improved(G/G)-expansion method and the Kudryashov method.This model is a generalized version of the nonlinear Schrödinger(NLS)equation with higher order dispersion and cubic nonlinearity.It can be considered as a more accurate approximation than the NLS equation in explaining wave propagation in the ocean and optical fibers.A novel deriva-tive operator named as the conformable truncated M-fractional is used to study the above mentioned model.The obtained results can be used in describing the Schrödinger-Hirota equation in some better way.Moreover the obtained results are verified through symbolic computational software.Also,the ob-tained results show that the suggested approaches have broaden capacity to secure some new soliton type solutions for the fractional differential equations in an effective way.In the end,the results are also explained through their graphical representations.

Antisickling activity of butyl stearate isolated from Ocimum basilicum(Lamiaceae)

Objective:To perform phytochemical analyses on the leaves of Ocimum basilicum L.(O.basilicum),to elucidate the structure of isolate and then perform the antisickling activity on the crude extract and on the isolate.Methods:The Emmel test performed on the acidified methanolic extract of this plant was used to evaluate the antisickling activity.The structure characterization of the active compound was performed using chromatographic techniques for the separation and the spectroscopic ones for structure elucidation(1H-NMR,13C-NMR.COSY,HMBC).Resurte:The chemical screening on the crude extract revealed the presence of polyphenols(flavonoids,anthocyanins,leucoanthocyanins,tannins,quinones) alkaloids,saponins,triterpenoids and steroids.The ohtained extract after evaporation yielded 34.50g(11.5%) out of 300g of powdered leaves of O.basilicum.The acidified methanolic extract and butyl stearate showed an interesting antisickling activity.Conchisions:The acidified methanolic extract and butyl stearate from O.basilicum displayed a good antisickling activity.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first time to report the antisickling activity of this compound in this plant.The synmesized compound presented the same spectroscopic characteristics than the natural one and the antisickling activities of its derivatives are understudying.

Comparative dissolution study on counterfeit medicines of PDE-5 inhibitors

Counterfeit medicines are a growing problem in both developing and industrialised countries. In general the evaluation of these medicines is limited to the identification and the dosage of the active ingredients. In this study in vitro dissolution tests were conducted on two sets of counterfeit medicines containing PDE-5 inhibitors （sildenafil citrate and tadalafil）. The dissolution profiles were statistically compared to the ones of the genuine products using the f2-method and a comparison at each time point using the Cochran test. The results showed low equivalences between counterfeit and genuine products as well as higher variations around the mean dissolution value at the different time points for the counterfeit products.

Labeo victorianus(Boulenger,1901)is one of the endemic fishes in Lake Victoria Basin(LVB)but is now threatened by multiple stressors caused by human activities.We investigated spatial and temporal variability in food composition and condition of L.victorianus in influent rivers of Lake Victoria,Kenya.Sampling was done during the dry and wet seasons by electrofishing.Food composition analysis showed that L.victorianus is a benthophagus and omnivorous species whose diet is dominated by detritus,periphyton and insects.There were differences in food composition among rivers,with significant river X season interactions(PERMANOVA F=11.6,df=4,p=0.001),suggesting that the diet depended on prevailing environmental conditions.In turbid rivers,the diet was dominated by detritus while in less turbid rivers it was dominated by insects and periphyton.Sand and mud also formed a significant part of the diet,which was an indication of a limited occurrence of preferable food items.There were ontogenetic shifts in food composition(PERMANOVA F=4.6,df=3,p=0.001),but also with a spatial interaction(PERMANOVA F=5.6,df=7,p=0.001),further indicating the role of environmental conditions in determining the diet for different size classes.Interestingly,the fish condition did not differ among rivers.This study shows that turbidity and organic matter and nutrient loading determine the diet of L.victorianus in LVB rivers,and provides further justification for the maintenance of water quality as a conservation measure for threatened species.
