Fabrication of lithium silicates from zeolite for CO2 capture at high temperatures

Li4Si O4 has been regarded as one of the most promising high-temperature CO2 ***,for practical applications,its CO2sorption kinetics,cycling stability and sorption properties at lower temperatures or lower CO2 concentrations have to be *** this contribution,four Li4Si O4 sorbents were synthesized from zeolite precursors MCM-41,MCM-48,TS-1,and *** CO2 uptake,cycling stability and the optimal CO2 sorption conditions were *** the samples,MCM-41-Li4Si O4 showed the best cycling stability at 650°C,with a stable reversible CO2 uptake of 29.1 wt%under 100 vol%CO2 during 20 *** its sorption kinetics and CO2 uptakes at lower temperatures and lower CO2 concentrations need to be *** then demonstrated that the sorption kinetics can be improved by modifying the MCM-41 precursor with metals such as Al,Ti,Ca,and *** Na-MCM-41-Li4Si O4 sample exhibited the highest sorption rate,and reached the equilibrium sorption capacity close to the theoretical value of 36.7 wt%within 20 *** addition,we proved that coating the MCM-41-Li4Si O4with Na2CO3and K2CO3can significantly increase the CO2uptakes at lower temperatures(e.g.550℃)and lower CO2concentrations(10–20 vol%).At 550℃ and under 20 vol%CO2,15 wt%K2CO3-MCM-41-Li4Si O4 and 10 wt%Na2CO3-MCM-41-Li4Si O4 sorbents resulted in a CO2 uptake of 32.2 wt%and 34.7 wt%,respectively,which are much higher than that of MCM-41-Li4Si O4(11.8 wt%).These two sorbents also showed good cycling *** promoiting mechasnim by alkali carbonate coating was discussed by a doubleshell model.

Let a and b be positive integers, with a not perfect square and b > 1. Recently, He, Togband Walsh proved that the Diophantine equation x2-a((bk-1)/(b-1))2=1 has at most three solutions in positive integers. Moreover, they showed that if max{a,b} > 4.76·1051, then there are at most two positive integer solutions (x,k). In this paper, we sharpen their result by proving that this equation always has at most two solutions.

Molten salts-modified MgO-based adsorbents for intermediate-temperature CO_2 capture: A review

Carbon dioxide（CO2） capture using magnesium oxide（MgO）-based adsorbents at intermediate temperatures has been regarded as a very prospective technology for their relatively high adsorption capacity,low cost, and wide availability. During the past few years, great effort has been devoted to the fabrication of molten salts-modified MgO-based adsorbents. The extraordinary progress achieved by coating with molten salts greatly promotes the COcapture capacity of MgO-based adsorbents. Therefore, we feel it necessary to deliver a timely review on this type of COcapturing materials, which will benefit the researchers working in both academic and industrial areas. In this work, we classified the molten saltsmodified MgO adsorbents into four categories:（1） homogenous molten salt-modified MgO adsorbents,（2） molten salt-modified double salts-based MgO adsorbents,（3） mixed molten salts-modified MgO adsorbents, and（4） molten salts-modified MgO-based mixed oxides adsorbents. This contribution critically reviews the recent developments in the synthetic method, adsorption capacity, reaction kinetics, promotion mechanism, operational conditions and regenerability of the molten salts-modified MgO COadsorbents. The challenges and prospects in this promising field of molten salts-modified MgO COadsorbents in real applications are also briefly mentioned.

Hyperbolic Method to Explore Multiplicity Flow Solutions in a Four-Sided Lid-Driven Cavity

In this study, the hyperbolic method is adopted to explore the flow field states of incompressible flow in a four-sided lid-driven square cavity. In particular, we focus on the flow bifurcation obtained at the critical Reynolds number . In the hyperbolic method, the diffusive term is transformed into a hyperbolic one by introducing a diffusion flux term, which is the solution of an additional equation. A classical Riemann-like solver with a finite-volume discretization is thus employed for the full flux (split into advective and diffusive parts), in order to solve the steady-state incompressible Navier-Stokes equation. The incompressibility of the flow is treated via the artificial pseudo-compressibility method. It is shown that our numerical code is able to detect the bifurcation by the analysis of the residual term relaxation during the pseudo-time iteration procedure. Moreover, depending on the combination choice of slope limiters for the two spatial directions, our method is able to select the first or the second stable solution among the double flow field state obtained when the Reynolds number is higher than the critical value that is estimated to be 129.4 in our study.

A Non-canonical Transferred DNA Insertion at the BRI1 Locus in Arabidopsis thaliana

Agrobacterium-mediated transformation is widely used in transgenic plant engineering and has been proven to be a powerful tool for insertional mutagenesis of the plant gsnome. The transferred DNA （T-DNA） from Agrobacterium is integrated into the plant genome through illegitimate recombination between the T-DNA and the plant DNA. Contrasting to the canonical insertion, here we report on a locus showing a complex mutation associated with T-DNA insertion at the BRI1 gene in Arabidopsis thaliana. We obtained a mutant line, named salads for its phenotype of dwarf stature and proliferating rosette. Molecular characterization of this mutant revealed that in addition to T-DNA a non-T-DNA-Iocalized transposon from bacteria was inserted in the Arabidopsis genome and that a region of more than 11.5 kb of the Arabidopsis genome was deleted at the insertion site. The deleted region contains the braesinosteroid receptor gene BRI1 and the transcription factor gene WRKY13. Our finding reveals non-canonical T-DNA insertion, implicating horizontal gene transfer and cautioning the use of T-DNA as mutagen in transgenic research.

Sedimentation in the Submarine Outfall and in the Mixing Zones （Avoiding, Diagnosis and Remediation）

Some practical design tips and important recommendations are given to minimize the negative effect of discharge of wastewater laden with solid particles via submarine outfall. This study emphasizes the role of respecting the hydraulic conditions in the outfall to prevent sedimentation in the outfall or their accumulation in adjacent areas; also it includes the ways used to improve the outfall hydraulic capacity that decreases with time. The diagnostics and remediation procedures of mixing zones are discussed, especially in the case of previous toxic discharge that results in toxic sediments at the bed load. A literature review of techniques used to assess sediment quality near discharge points and locate effluent-affected sediment deposit is presented that include using acoustic profiles and images, chemical analysis, toxicity tests and multivariate indicators.

SDG714 Regulates Specific Gene Expression and Consequently Affects Plant Growth via H3K9 Dimethylation

Histone lysine methylation is known to be involved in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression in all eukaryotes including plants. Here we show that the rice SDG714 is primarily responsible for dimethylation but not trimethylaUon on histone H3K9 in vivo. Overexpression of YFP-SDG714 in Arabidopsis significantly inhibits plant growth and this inhibition is associated with an enhanced level of H3K9 dimethylation. Our microarray results show that many genes essential for the plant growth and development were downregulated in transgenic Arabidopsis plants overexpressing YFP-SDG714. By chromatin immunoprecipitation analysis, we show that YFP-SDG714 is targeted to specific chromatin regions and dimethylate the H3Kg, which is linked with heterochromatinization and the downregulation of genes. Most interestingly, when YFP-SDG714 production is stopped, the inhibited plants can partially restore their growth, suggesting that the perturbation of gene expression caused by YFP-SDG714 is revertible. Taken together, our results point to an important role of SDG714 in H3K9 dimethylation, suppression of gene expression and plant growth, and provide a potential method to regulate gene expression and plant development by an on-off switch of SDG714 expression.
