Introduction:China faces a growing burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Previous mortality estimations were primarily based on the underlying cause of *** study analyzed COPD-associated death and its comorbidities using all COPD cases listed on the chain of events on death ***:A retrospective analysis of the national Mortality Surveillance System(NMSS)was conducted to estimate COPD-associated mortality from 2014 to ***-standardized mortality rates(ASMRs)were calculated stratified by sex,region,and *** regression was used to estimate the average annual percentage change(AAPC)during the study ***:From 2014 to 2021,the ASMR of COPD decreased from 91.85 to 45.90 per 100,000 *** but uneven decreases in COPD mortality were observed across gender[females:AAPC:−11.2%,95%confidence interval(CI):−11.9 to−10.4%;males:AAPC:−8.0%,95%CI:−9.2 to−6.8%],regions(eastern:AAPC:−10.7%,95%CI:−11.5 to−9.9%;central:AAPC:−9.9%,95%CI:−10.9 to−8.9%;western:AAPC:−7.7%,95%CI:−10.6 to−4.7%),and residential areas(urban:AAPC:−10.9%,95%CI:−12.3 to−9.5%;rural:AAPC:−8.3%,95%CI:−9.1 to−7.4%).Other than COPD,cardiovascular diseases and respiratory conditions were the major underlying causes of death in COPDassociated ***:COPD is a significant comorbidity of other disorders in *** COPDassociated mortality substantially decreased from 2014 to 2021,the burden remained high in underdeveloped regions.

Chemotherapy is an effortless and frequently used approach in cancer ***,in most cases,it can only prolong life expectancy and does not guarantee a complete ***,chemotherapy is associated with severe adverse effects,one of the major complications of effective cancer *** addition,newly published research outputs show that cancer stem cells are involved in cancer disease progression,drug resistance,metastasis,and recurrence and that they are functional in the trans-differentiation capacity of cancer stem cells to cancer cells in response to *** strategies are therefore required for better management of cancer *** prime approach would be to synthesize and develop novel drugs that need extensive resources,time,and endurance to be brought into therapeutic *** subsequent approach would be to screen the anti-cancer activity of avail-able non-cancerous *** concept of repurposing non-cancer drugs as an alternative to current cancer therapy has become popular in recent years because using existing anticancer drugs has several adverse *** have also been investigated for cancer ther-apy due to their significant anti-cancer effects with negligible or no side effects and availabil-ity in food *** this paper,we discuss an ideal hypothesis for screening available non-cancerous drugs with anticancer activity,with a focus on cancer stem cells and their clinical application for cancer ***,drug repurposing and the combination of micronu-trients that can target both cancers and cancer stem cells may result in a better therapeutic approach leading to maximum tumor growth control.
