Recently, smart grid solutions have started to extend the visibility of the electrical grid to the entire network; including high voltage transmission lines, medium voltage distribution networks, and the low voltage networks to households. The typical data monitored includes： voltage, current, phase, and power measurements, together with network events and alarms. This paper analyses the key challenges facing smart grid solutions in providing effective access to large volumes of sensory data that is distributed over a large geographic area. A case study is described that outlines how the use of geospatial technology together with Web 2.0 technologies may be applied to improve user access and control to this data. The results show that a geospatial solution provides an effective mechanism for visualizing telemetry data monitored within the smart grid.

Variability in moisture content is a common condition in natural *** influences soil properties significantly.A comprehensive understanding of the evolution of soil microstructure in wetting/drying process is of great significance for interpretation of soil macro hydro-mechanical *** this review paper,methods that are commonly used to study soil microstructure are *** them are scanning electron microscope(SEM),environmental SEM(ESEM),mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP)and computed tomography(CT)***,progress in research on the soil microstructure evolution during drying,wetting and wetting/drying cycles is summarized based on reviews of a large body of research papers published in the past several *** compacted on the wet side of op-timum water content generally have a matrix-type structure with a monomodal pore size distribution(PSD),whereas soils compacted on the dry side of optimum water content display an aggregate structure that exhibits bimodal *** drying,decrease in soil volume is mainly caused by the shrinkage of inter-aggregate *** wetting,both the intra-and inter-aggregate pores increase gradually in number and *** in the characteristics of the soil pore structure significantly depend on stress state as the soil is subjected to *** wetting/drying cycles,soil structural change is not completely reversible,and the generated cumulative swelling/shrinkage deformation mainly derives from ***,based on this analysis and identified research needs,some important areas of research focus are proposed for future *** areas include innovative methods of sample preparation,new observation techniques,fast quantitative analysis of soil structure,integration of microstructural parameters into macro-mechanical models,and soil microstructure evolution charac-teristics under multi-field coupled conditions.

Advanced intelligent or ＂smart＂ meters are being deployed in Asia. A result of deployment of smart meters, with associated equipment, is the electric power industry faced with new and changing threats, vulnerabilities and re-evaluate traditional approaches to cyber security. Protection against emerging cyber-security threats targeting smart meter infrastructures will increase risk to both the utility and customer if not addressed within initial rollouts. This paper will discuss the issues in SMI （smart meter infrastructures） deployments that pertain to cyber security. It will cover topics such as the threats to operations, infrastructure, network and people and organization and their associated risks. SMI deployments include not only the smart meter, but also the interfaces for home energy management systems as well as communication interfaces back to the utility. Utilities must recognize and anticipate the new threat landscape that can attack and compromise the meter and the associated field network collectors. They must also include threats to the WAN （wide-area-network） backhaul networks, smart meter headends, MDMS （meter data management systems） and their interfaces to CIS （customer information systems） and billing and OMS （outage management systems）. Lessons learned from SMI implementations from North America, Europe and recently, Japan, will be discussed. How white-box and black-box testing techniques are applied to determine the threat impact to the SMI. Finally, organizational change risk will be discussed and how utilities have responded to re-organizing and developing a security governance structure for the SMI and other smart grid applications.

The North China Plain(NCP) has recently faced serious air quality problems as a result of enhanced gas pollutant emissions due to the process of urbanization and rapid economic *** explore regional air pollution in the NCP,measurements of surface ozone(O3),nitrogen oxides(NOx),and sulfur dioxide(SO2) were carried out from May to November 2013 at a rural site(Xianghe) between the twin megacities of Beijing and *** highest hourly ozone average was close to 240 ppbv in May,followed by around 160 ppbv in June and *** ozone episodes were more notable than in 2005 and were mainly associated with air parcels from the city cluster in the hinterland of the polluted NCP to the southwest of the *** NOx,an important ozone precursor,the concentrations ranged from several ppbv to nearly 180 ppbv in the summer and over 400 ppbv in the *** occurrence of high NOx concentrations under calm conditions indicated that local emissions were dominant in *** double-peak diurnal pattern found in NOxconcentrations and NO/NOx ratios was probably shaped by local emissions,photochemical removal,and dilution resulting from diurnal variations of surface wind speed and the boundary layer height.A pronounced SO2 daytime peak was noted and attributed to downward mixing from an SO2-rich layer above,while the SO2-polluted air mass transported from possible emission sources,which differed between the non-heating(September and October) and heating(November) periods,was thought to be responsible for night-time high concentrations.
