Association of high expression in rat gastric mucosal heat shock protein 70 induced by moxibustion pretreatment with protection against stress injury

AIM:To study the effect of moxibustion on Zusanli or Liangmeng point on gastric mucosa injury in stress-induced ulcer rats and its correlation with the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70). METHODS:Sixty healthy SD rats (30 males,30 females) were divided into control group,injury model group,Zushanli point group,Liangmeng point group. Stress gastric ulcer model was induced by binding cold stress method. Gastric mucosa ulcer injury (UI) index was calculated by Guth method. Gastric mucosa blood flow (GMBF) was recorded with a biological signal analyzer. Protein content and gene expression in gastric mucosal HSP70 were detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Thiobarbital method was used to determine malondialdehyde (MDA) content. Gastric mucosal endothelin (ET) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) were analyzed by radioimmunoassay. RESULTS:High gastric mucosal UI index,high HSP70 expression,low GMBF and PGF2,elevated MDA and ET were observed in gastric mucosa of rats subjected to cold stress. Moxibustion on Zusanli or Liangmeng point decreased rat gastric mucosal UI index,MDA and ET. Conversely,the expression of HSP70,GMBF,and PGE2 was elevated in gastric mucosa after pretreatment with moxibustion on Zusanli or Liangmeng point. The observed parameters were significantly different between Zusanli and Liangmeng points. CONCLUSION:Pretreatment with moxibustion on Zusanli or Liangmeng point protects gastric mucosa against stress injury. This protection is associated with the higher expression of HSP70 mRNA and protein,leading to release of PGE2 and inhibition of MDA and ET,impairment of gastric mucosal index.

Anisotropy reduction and mechanical property improvement of additively manufactured stainless steel based on cyclic phase transformation

Owing to the special layer-by-layer deposition process of directed energy deposition(DED),columnar coarse grains,produced by cyclic reheating with intrinsic directional heat flow along the building direc-tion,are difficult to *** grains result in strong anisotropic characteristics with poor mechanical properties,which restrict the application of DED *** work proposes a novel fabrication strat-egy based on the cyclic-phase-transformation behavior,which can reduce the anisotropy and improve the mechanical properties of DED-printed stainless *** this fabrication strategy,316 L powder(austenitic stainless steel)and 17-4PH powder(martensitic stainless steel)were mixed in different mass ratios to fabricate five types of DED-printed stainless *** the five samples,P70(mixture of 70 wt%17-4PH powder and 30 wt%316 L powder)showed the weakest anisotropy and the best mechanical properties,which can be attributed to the cyclic phase transformation under cyclic reheating treatment and the transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP)effect over a wide range of strains,***-pared with the pure 316 L printed material,the tensile test results of P70 showed that the yield strength(YS)and ultimate tensile strength(UTS)increased by 35.4%and 34.5%,respectively,whereas the uniform elongation(UE)and total elongation(TE)were improved by 63.9%and 31.4%,*** addition,the strength-ductility balance(UTS×UE)increased by as much as 120.4%.The proposed fabrication strategy is expected to reduce the anisotropy in other materials that undergo cyclic-phase-transformation phe-nomena during additive manufacturing.

The increased coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)breakthrough cases pose the need of booster *** conducted a randomised,double-blinded,controlled,phase 2 trial to assess the immunogenicity and safety of the heterologous prime-boost vaccination with an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine(BBIBP-CorV)followed by a recombinant protein-based vaccine(NVSI-06-07),using homologous boost with BBIBP-CorV as *** groups of healthy adults(600 individuals per group)who had completed two-dose BBIBP-CorV vaccinations 1–3 months,4–6 months and≥6 months earlier,respectively,were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive either NVSI-06-07 or BBIBP-CorV *** assays showed that in NVSI-06-07 groups,neutralizing antibody geometric mean titers(GMTs)against the prototype SARS-CoV-2 increased by 21.01–63.85 folds on day 28 after vaccination,whereas only 4.20–16.78 folds of increases were observed in control *** Omicron variant,the neutralizing antibody GMT elicited by homologous boost was 37.91 on day 14,however,a significantly higher neutralizing GMT of 292.53 was induced by heterologous *** results were obtained for other SARS-CoV-2 variants of concerns(VOCs),including Alpha,Beta and *** heterologous and homologous boosters have a good safety *** and systemic adverse reactions were absent,mild or moderate in most participants,and the overall safety was quite similar between two booster *** findings indicated that NVSI-06-07 is safe and immunogenic as a heterologous booster in BBIBP-CorV recipients and was immunogenically superior to the homologous booster against not only SARS-CoV-2 prototype strain but also VOCs,including Omicron.

An ongoing randomized,double-blind,controlled phase 2 trial was conducted to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of a mosaic-type recombinant vaccine candidate,named NVSI-06-09,as a booster dose in subjects aged 18 years and older from the United Arab Emirates(UAE),who had administered two or three doses of inactivated vaccine BBIBP-CorV at least 6 months prior to *** participants were randomly assigned with 1:1 to receive a booster dose of NVSI-06-09 or *** primary outcomes were immunogenicity and safety against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)Omicron variant,and the exploratory outcome was cross-immunogenicity against other circulating *** May 25 and 30,2022,516 adults received booster vaccination with 260 in NVSI-06-09 group and 256 in BBIBP-CorV *** results showed a similar safety profile between two booster groups,with low incidence of adverse reactions of grade 1 or *** immunogenicity,by day 14 post-booster,the fold rises in neutralizing antibody geometric mean titers(GMTs)from baseline elicited by NVSI-06-09 were remarkably higher than those by BBIBP-CorV against the prototype strain(19.67 vs 4.47-fold),Omicron BA.1.1(42.35 vs 3.78-fold),BA.2(25.09 vs 2.91-fold),BA.4(22.42 vs 2.69-fold),and BA.5 variants(27.06 vs 4.73-fold).Similarly,the neutralizing GMTs boosted by NVSI-06-09 against Beta and Delta variants were also 6.60-fold and 7.17-fold higher than those by *** findings indicated that a booster dose of NVSI-06-09 was well-tolerated and elicited broad-spectrum neutralizing responses against divergent SARS-CoV-2 variants,including Omicron and its sub-lineages.

Rational design of microsystems and efficient integration of various functional modules that can directly realize the aimed functions are very attractive for portable and onsite practical applications,which is also significant in developing miniaturized and intelligent electronics and *** the conventional electrochemical glucose sensors that always need auxiliary complex systems for power supply,signal processing,and feedbacks,we design an all-printed glucose sensor integrated with a zinc ion microbattery(ZIMB)as a micropower source for portable and onsite quick glucose *** integrated glucose sensor(GS)and ZIMB(iGS-ZIMB)systempossesses a high areal energy density of 247.3μWh/cm^(2) and power density of 1193μW/cm^(2) and exhibits high sensitivity up to 464.2μA/mM/cm^(2),wide linear range of 0.5-6.0 mM,and good reproducibility in glucose *** a simple amplification circuit design,the glucose concentration signals could be displayed within a short response time of 1.6 s without the need of external auxiliary *** iGS-ZIMB microsystem has prominent advantages in efficiency and cost and is promising for onsite medical and healthcare applications.

“Lifting More” is Associated with Lower Risks of Depression in University Students

Research on the population in western world showed that,MSE(muscle-strengthening exercise)is beneficial to the treatment of mental ***,the situation in Chinese adults is little *** this reason,the study is performed to understand the connection between depression and MSE among college and university students in China aged between 18 to 24.1793 college students have been recruited,and their average age is 20.67.A questionnaire has been developed and it is self-reported and designed to collect information about MSE and participants,including body mass index and sex and so *** and physical activity have been evaluated by introducing two scales,that is,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form,***,Patient Health Questionnaire-9 has been adopted to indicate the severity of depression of *** link between depression and MSE has been studied by introducing multilevel linear *** all these study participants,just 24.87%of them met the MSE standards of World Health Organization,that is,more than 2 days every *** average depression score was 6.80(±5.19).Greater num-ber of days for MSE shows negative association with the depression,with (beta=-0.17,95%CI:-0.31 to-0.03,p=0.015).Those students failing to meet MSE standards are more susceptible to the depression risk(beta=0.63,95%CI:0.09–0.19,p=0.027).The results show that,there is a relationship between MSE participation and relieved status of depression among young adults in *** designed to relieve depression can be developed on the basis of MSE.
