Alzheimer’s disease not only affects the brain,but also induces metabolic dysfunction in peripheral organs and alters the gut *** aim of this study was to investigate systemic changes that occur in Alzheimer’s disease,in particular the association between changes in peripheral organ metabolism,changes in gut microbial composition,and Alzheimer’s disease *** do this,we analyzed peripheral organ metabolism and the gut microbiota in amyloid precursor protein-presenilin 1(APP/PS1)transgenic and control mice at 3,6,9,and 12 months of ***-month-old APP/PS1 mice exhibited cognitive impairment,Alzheimer’s disease-related brain changes,distinctive metabolic disturbances in peripheral organs and fecal samples(as detected by untargeted metabolomics sequencing),and substantial changes in gut microbial composition compared with younger APP/PS1 ***,a strong correlation emerged between the gut microbiota and kidney metabolism in APP/PS1 *** findings suggest that alterations in peripheral organ metabolism and the gut microbiota are closely related to Alzheimer’s disease development,indicating potential new directions for therapeutic strategies.

The community species abundance and diversity declined with bamboo invasion had been widely reported ***,the physiological strategies used during root competition between native species and invasive bamboo are poorly *** clarify the mechanisms underlying such strategies,the stoichiometric dynamics and homeostasis of nitrogen,phosphorus,organic carbon in root orders of Phyllostachys edulis(I du[=Ⅰ-Pe,years 1 and 2];Ⅱdu[=Ⅱ-Pe,years 3 and 4]),Cunninghamia lanceolata in transition and pure forests were *** increasing intensity of bamboo invasion,N,P,and C content of *** root orders declined,N and P content in *** rhizome orders declined,while C increased,the stoichiometric ratios in mixed forest interface mainly increased,and the stoichiometric differences within native and invasive species root orders ***,the stoichiometric homeostasis index(H)of elements in the same root order and even the same elements in different root orders were not consistent.H of most root orders(except some HP)was greater than 4,the H ranked order wasⅠ-Pe>Cl>Ⅱ-Pe in mixed interfaces,and the N:P ratio of most species root orders was greater than 16,despite being affected by *** research concluded that the bamboo invasion narrows stoichiometric differences within root orders,and the juvenile bamboo rhizome has a stronger capacity for homeostatic regulation than in adult bamboo and ***,which is a key determinant of bamboo invasion success.

Trichogramma dendrolimi Matsumura （Hymenoptera： Trichogrammatidae） is one of the preponderant egg parasitoids of Dendrolimus spp., which are important defoliators of coniferous forests. This parasitoid wasp has been widely released to control pine caterpillar and other lepidopteran pests, but its control efficiency needs to be improved. Sensory systems are crucial for T dendrolimi to locate hosts, and immunity is probably involved after egg deposition in the host cavity; however, few reports have focused on the molecular mechanism of olfactory detection and survival of T. dendrolimi. It is necessary to identify these genes before further functional research is conducted. In this study, we assembled and analyzed the transcriptome of T. dendrolimi using next-generation sequencing technology. The sequencing and assembly resulted in 38 565 contigs with N50 of 3422 bp. Sequence comparison indicate that T dendrolimi sequences are very similar to those of another parasitoid Nasonia vitripennis. Then the olfactory, vision, and immune- related gene families were identified, and phylogenetic analyses were performed with these genes from T. dendrolimi and other model insect species. Furthermore, phylogenetic tree with odorant binding proteins of T. dendrolimi and their host Dendrolimus was constructed to determine whether convergent evolution exists. These genes can be valid targets for further gene function research. The present study may help us to understand host location and survival mechanisms of T dendrolimi and to use them more efficiently for pest control in the future.

The leaf shape and leaf area measurement are crucial in plant growth *** castor bean leaf is large,palm-shaped with multiple *** leaf shape simulation and leaf area estimation were less *** circular model and nonrectangular hyperbolic model were developed to describe the standard leaf shape of castor bean in this study,providing a model for simulating the leaf shape and a nondestructive way for estimating the leaf area *** addition,a formula was established to estimate the leaf area by the parameter of the standard leaf shape of castor *** on validation results,the circular model fits the landmarks and nonrectangular hyperbolic model fits the lobe margins very *** leaf area was accurately estimated by using the established *** study could provide a theoretical reference for leaf visualization,a nondestructive and easy way to estimate the leaf area for other complex leaves with multiple lobes.

Effect of different surfactants on removal efficiency of heavy metals in sewage sludge treated by a novel method combining bio-acidification with Fenton oxidation

The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of different surfactants on the removal efficiency of heavy metals in sewage sludge treated by a method combining bio-acidification with Fenton oxidation. Four surfactants were adopted such as anionic surfactant(sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate, SDBS), nonionic surfactants(tween-20 and tween-60) and cationic surfactant(hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, HTAC), respectively. The indigenous sulfur-oxidizing bacteria in bio-acidification phase were enriched and cultured from fresh activated sludge obtained from a wastewater treatment plant. It is shown that different surfactants exhibited distinct effect on the removal efficiency of heavy metals from sewage sludge. The nonionic surfactants,especially tween-60, promotes the solubilization of heavy metals, while the anionic and cationic surfactants hinder the removal of heavy metals. Copper is efficiently leached. The removal efficiency of cadium is relatively lower than that of Cu due to the demand for rigorous p H value. Lead is leached with a low efficiency as the formation of low soluble Pb SO4 precipitates.

The study of the hydrodynamic limit of the Boltzmann equation with physical boundary is a challenging problem due to the appearance of the viscous and Knudsen boundary *** this paper,the hydrodynamic limit from the Boltzmann equation with the specular reflection boundary condition to the incompressible Euler equations in a channel is *** on the multi-scaled Hilbert expansion,the equations with boundary conditions and compatibility conditions for interior solutions,and viscous and Knudsen boundary layers are derived under different scaling,***,some uniform estimates for the interior solutions,and viscous and Knudsen boundary layers are *** the help of the L2-L∞framework and the uniform estimates obtained above,the solutions to the Boltzmann equation are constructed by the truncated Hilbert expansion with multiscales,and hence the hydrodynamic limit in the incompressible Euler level is justified.

Bark beetles Tomicus yunnanensis and *** are two important pests of Pinus yunnanensis and can cause massive death of pine *** this study,we examined several traits related to photosynthesis in *** and their relationship with antibiotic defense responses after joint attack by the two bark beetles at the shoot and the trunk *** shoots were attacked by the beetles,the abundance of chlorophylls,carotenoids,and the rates of net photosynthesis(Pn)and transpiration(E)decreased in needles,while the levels of superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde remained unchanged in both needles and *** activity of peroxidases also remained unchanged in needles,but increased in *** activity of catalases increased in both needles and *** trunks were attacked by the bark beetles,chlorophyll abundance,Pn,E,and antioxidative enzyme activities all declined,and the declines were more pronounced than in the attacked shoots.A decrease in protein concentrations was also observed in needles and phloem from the attacked *** on shoots by the bark beetles suppressed host defense and provided a favorable environment for larval growth and development,resulting in long-term decline of pine growth *** results suggest that attacks on trunks by beetles caused more severe damage to host trees than attacks on shoots.

Environmental behaviors of phoxim with two formulations in bamboo forest under soil surface mulching

Phoxim（emulsifiable concentrate（EC） and granules（G）） has been widely used in bamboo forests. The persistence and magnitude of phoxim residues in the crop and soil must be investigated to ensure human and environmental safety. The environmental behaviors of the two formulations were investigated in a bamboo forest under soil surface mulching conditions（CP） and non-covered cultivation conditions（NCP）. The half-lives of phoxim in soil under the two conditions in soil were 4.1–6.2 days（EC） and 31.5–49.5 days（G）,respectively. Phoxim in EC could be leached from the topsoil into the subsoil. A minimized leaching effect was observed for G under NCP. Inversely, an enhanced leaching effect was observed for G under CP. The G formulation resulted in more parent compound（in bamboo shoots） and metabolite（in soil） residues of phoxim than in the case of EC, especially under CP conditions. In addition, the intensity and duration of the formulation effect on soil p H adjustment from G were more obvious than that from EC. Results showed that the environmental behaviors（distribution, degradation, residue） of phoxim in the bamboo forest were significantly influenced by the type of formulation. The prolongation effect from phoxim G might cause persistence and long-term environmental risk. However,bamboo shoot consumption could be considered relatively safe after applying the recommended dose of the two phoxim formulations.
