Summary： The postpartum depression outcome and the effect of psychological intervention were studied in order to reduce the occurrence and development of the postpartum depression. A survey of 4000 women within 4-6 weeks postpartum in 80 communities in Shenzhen, China was performed using random cluster sampling method. By employing Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale （EPDS） as a screening tool, the positive women （defined as EPDS 〉10） were randomly divided into intervention group and control group at a ratio of 1：2. The women in the intervention group were treated by means of mailing postpartum depression prevention and treatment knowledge manual, face-to-face counseling, and telephone psychological counseling interventions aiming at individual risk factors, while those in the control group were treated with conventional methods. EPDS scores were assessed in these two groups again at 6th month postpartum. Totally, 3907 valid questionnaires were obtained. All the 771 positive women were divided into two groups： 257 in the intervention group, and 514 in the control group. At 6th month postpartum, the EPDS scores in the intervention group were decreased significantly, from baseline stage （12.84±3.02） to end stage （3.05±2.93）, while EPDS scores in the control group were reduced from 12.44±2.78 to 6.94±4.02. There were significant differences in the EPDS scores at end stage between the two groups （t=13.059, P〈0.001）. Psychological intervention can reduce postpartum depression, with better maternal compliance. It is feasible and necessary to establish postpartum depression screening and psychological intervention model in community-hospital and include the postpartum depression screening, intervention, and follow-up into the conventional healthcare.

To synthesize three different grafting ratios of gallic acid(GA)-chitosan(CS)copolymer by a free radical mediated grafting method,which is further applied to the field of antibacterial materials,crosslinking structures of the compound GA-CS copolymer were characterized,fully indicating that gallic acid is resoundingly grafted onto *** grafting ratios of three copolymers GA-CS are 45.71%(Ⅰ),36.12%(Ⅱ),and 18.96%(Ⅲ)were determined by UV-Vis *** minimum inhibitory concentrations of three GA-CS copolymers are 30μg/mL against Escherichia coli and are ranged from 250 to 550μg/mL against Staphylococcus *** counting viable bacterial colonies,it can be found that antibacterial property is preferable by increasing the grafting ratio of GA-CS *** of investigation on aforementioned bacteria experiment indicate that the CFU/mL values of GA-CS(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ)are 2.04×10^(6),7.56×10^(6),1.48×10^(7) to Staphylococcus aureus,and 2.96×10^(6),1.01×10^(7),2.14×10^(7) to Escherichia coli after 12 h *** addition,the interaction process between GA-CS copolymer and bacteria can be observed through a transmission electron *** specific manifestation is that the bacterial cell membranes are ruptured after being treated with the copolymer,which causes the cell contents to flow out,and the cell morphology is shrunk and out ofshape.

Humanin is a potential therapeutic agent for Alzheimer’s disease, and its derivative, S14G-humanin, is 1 000-fold stronger in its neuroprotective effect against Alzheimer’s disease-relevant insults. Alt-hough effective, the detailed molecular mechanism through which S14G-humanin exerts its effects remains unclear. Data from this study showed that fibril ar amyloid-beta 40 disturbed cel ular ho-meostasis through the cel membrane, increasing intracel ular calcium, generating reactive oxygen species, and decreasing the mitochondrial membrane potential. S14G-humanin restored these re-sponses. The results suggested that S14G-humanin blocked the effects of amyloid-beta 40 on the neuronal cel membrane, and restored the disturbed cel ular homeostasis, thereby exerting a neuroprotective effect on hippocampal neurons.

A Case-control Study on High-risk Factors for Newborn Hearing Loss in Seven Cities of Shandong Province

To investigate the high-risk factors for newborn hearing loss and to provide information for preventing the development of hearing loss and delaying its progression, from May 2003 to June 2006, neonates who failed to pass the universal newborn hearing screening （UNHS） were referred to Jinan Newborn Hearing Screening and Rehabilitation Center from 7 newborn hearing screening centers in seven cities of Shandong province. One-to-one pair-matched case-control method was employed for statistical analysis of the basic features of definitely identified cases. High-risk factors relating to the bilateral hearing loss were evaluated by univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Our results revealed that 721 transferred newborns who didn＇t pass the heating screening received audiological and medical evaluation and 367 were confirmed to have hearing loss. Of them, 177 neonates with hearing loss who met the matching requirements were included in the study as subjects. Univariate analysis showed that high-risk factors related to hearing loss incuded age of father, education backgrounds of parents, parity, birth weight, gestational weeks, craniofacial deformity, history of receiving treatment in neonatal intensive care unit （NICU）, neonatal disease, family history of otopathy and family history of congenital hearing loss. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that 4 independent risk factors were related to bilateral hearing loss, including parity （OR=16.285, 95% CI 3.379--78,481）, neonatal disease （OR=34;968, 95% CI 2.720 449.534）, family history of congenital hearing loss （OR=69.488, 95% CI 4.417--1093.300） and birth weight （OR=0.241, 95% CI 0.090--0.648）. It is concluded that parity, neonatal disease and family history of heating loss are the promoting factors of bilateral hearing loss in neonates and appropriate intervention measures should be taken to deal with the risk factors.
