A strategy to synthesize phosphorus-containing nickel phyllosilicate whiskers to enhance the flame retardancy of epoxy composites with excellent mechanical and dry-friction properties

To enhance the fire safety and wear resistance of epoxy,phosphorus-containing nickel phyllosilicate whiskers(FP-NiPS)were synthesized using a facile hydrothermal technology,with 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene as the organic *** impacts of FP-NiPS on the thermal stability,flame retardancy,and mechanical and tribological properties of EP composites were *** findings demonstrated that 5 wt%FP-NiPS elevated the limiting oxygen index of the EP composite from 23.8%to 28.4%,achieving a V-0 rating during vertical burning ***-NiPS could enhance the thermal stability of epoxy resin(EP)and facilitate the development of a dense and continuous carbon layer,thereby significantly improving the fire safety of the EP *** FP-NiPS led to an 8.2%increase in the tensile strength and a 38.8%increase in the elastic modulus of the EP composite,showing outstanding mechanical ***,FP-NiPS showed remarkable potential in enhancing the wear resistance of *** wear rate of 1 wt%FP-NiPS is 2.34×10^(−5) mm^(3)·N^(−1)·m^(−1),a decrease of 66.7%compared to *** work provides a novel promising modification method to enhance the fire safety,mechanical and wear resistance properties of EP.

A novel,cheap and highly efficient Ni-Co/Mo_(2)C/Co_(6)Mo_(6)C_(2)@C nanocomposite has been successfully constructed through simple one-step carbonization method in a nitrogen *** in the precursor can effectively anchor molybdenum-based Keggin-type polyoxometallate and NiCo-layered double hydroxide through electrostatic and coordination interactions,which avoids the aggregation of catalyst particles during the pyrolysis *** optimization,the obtained Ni-Co/Mo_(2)C/Co_(6)Mo_(6)C_(2)@C possesses small size(3-8 nm),large specific surface area and hierarchical pore *** importantly,Ni-Co/Mo_(2)C/Co_(6)Mo_(6)C_(2)@C presents remarkable hydrogen evolution reaction activity with low overpotentials in 0.5 mol·L^(-1)H_(2)SO_(4)(102.3 mV)and 1 mol·L^(-1)KOH(95 mV)to afford the current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2),as well as small Tafel slopes of 82.49 and 99.92 mV·dec^(-1),***,this catalyst also shows outstanding stability for 12 h without a significant change in current *** excellent catalytic performance of Ni-Co/Mo_(2)C/Co_(6)Mo_(6)C_(2)@C can put down to the synergistic effect between multiple components and the small size of the *** work provides unique insights into the preparation of efficient transition metal-based catalysts for HER.

Body size induced changes in metabolic carbon of soil nematodes under N deposition and precipitation regime change in a temperate grassland

Background Global climate change has resulted in precipitation regimes exhibiting an increasing trend in rainfall intensity but a reduction in its frequency. Nitrogen(N) deposition is a crucial component of the global N cycling. Nematode body size is a trait that responds to climate change and is used as a standard trait-based indicator in soil community analysis. Variations in body size influence metabolic carbon(C). We examined the ways by which body size and metabolic C of nematodes respond to changing precipitation regimes and how N deposition regulates these responses by an 8-year manipulative *** Nematode body size was indicated by the community-weighted mean(CWM) mass. We quantified C metabolism components of soil nematodes including production C, respiration C, and corresponding C use efficiency(CUE) under different precipitation intensities and N addition in a semi-arid steppe on the Mongolian Plateau. The Mantel test was used to determine the correlations between CWM, CUE and environmental factors. The partial least squares path modeling(PLS-PM) was conducted to quantify direct or indirect contributions among latent *** We found that heavy precipitation intensity increased the CWM mass of total nematodes and omnivorespredators without N addition. N addition decreased CWM mass of bacterivores across all the precipitation intensity treatments. Stronger precipitation intensities might be favorable for nematode production and respiration C. Variations in the nematode CWM mass drove the CUE to change with N *** Our findings provide new insights into the mechanisms underlying nematode body size and C metabolism, and highlight that explorative studies, such as manipulative experiments, are needed to identify traits underlying size-related effects and to investigate how they affect CUE of nematodes. Nonsingularity of grain-like cascade feedback shift registers subject to fault attacks

Feedback shift registers(FSRs) are pivotal in generating pseudorandom sequences for stream ciphers and play a crucial role in error detection and code correction. This paper investigates the resilience of grain-like cascade FSRs(GLC-FSRs) against two types of fault attacks: hard and soft. First, we introduce a new criterion for assessing the nonsingularity of GLC-FSRs using the structure matrices of feedback functions,which enable the measurement of the number of nonsingular GLC-FSRs. Second, we demonstrate that GLC-FSRs subject to hard fault attacks become singular as determined by this new criterion. Ultimately,by constructing a soft fault bit set, we discuss the resilience of GLC-FSRs to soft fault attacks. Results demonstrate that singular GLC-FSRs remain singular after being injected by soft fault attacks. Conversely,for nonsingular GLC-FSRs, suitable soft fault attacks are designed to maintain their nonsingular status.

Within the framework of achieving carbon neutrality, various industries are confronted with fresh challenges. The ongoing process of downsizing coal industry operations has evolved into a new phase, with the burgeoning proliferation of abandoned mines posing a persistent issue. Addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by these abandoned mines, this paper advocates for a scientific approach centered on the advancement of pumped storage energy alongside gas-oil complementary energy. Leveraging abandoned mine tunnels to establish pumped storage power stations holds significant ecological and economic importance for repurposing these sites. This initiative not only serves as an effective means to restore the ecological balance in mining regions but also provides an environmentally friendly approach to repurposing abandoned mine tunnels, offering a blueprint for economically viable pumped storage power stations. This article delineates five crucial scientific considerations and outlines seven primary models for the utilization of abandoned mine sites, delineating a novel, comprehensive pathway for energy and power development that emphasizes multi-energy complementarity and synergistic optimization within abandoned mines.

Experimental investigation on coal pore-fracture variation and fractal characteristics synergistically affected by solvents for improving clean gas extraction

Signifying quantum uncertainty relations by optimal observable sets and the tightest uncertainty constants

Quantum uncertainty relations constrain the precision of measurements across multiple non-commuting quantum mechanical ***,we introduce the concept of optimal observable sets and define the tightest uncertainty constants to accurately describe these measurement *** any quantum state,we establish optimal sets of three observables for both product and summation forms of uncertainty relations,and analytically derive the corresponding tightest uncertainty *** demonstrate that the optimality of these sets remains consistent regardless of the uncertainty relation ***,the existence of the tightest constants excludes the validity of standard real quantum mechanics,underscoring the essential role of complex numbers in this ***,our findings resolve the conjecture posed in[***.118,180402(2017)],offering novel insights and potential applications in understanding preparation uncertainties.

Compact mid-infrared dual-comb spectrometer over 3-4μm via intra-pulse difference frequency generation in LiNbO_(3) waveguides

The mid-infrared optical frequency comb is a powerful tool for gas *** this study,we demonstrate a simple midinfrared dual-comb spectrometer covering 3±4μm in Li Nb O_(3)*** on a low-power fiber laser system,the mid-infrared comb is achieved via intra-pulse difference frequency generation in the Li Nb O_(3)*** construct pre-chirp management before supercontinuum generation to control spatiotemporal alignment for pump and signal *** supercontinuum is directly coupled into a chirped periodically poled Li Nb O_(3)waveguide for the 3±4μm idler generation.A mid-infrared dual-comb spectrometer based on this approach provides a 100 MHz resolution over25 THz *** evaluate the applicability for spectroscopy,we measure the methane spectrum using the dualcomb *** measured results are consistent with the HITRAN database,in which the root mean square of the residual is 3.2%.This proposed method is expected to develop integrated and robust mid-infrared dual-comb spectrometers on chip for sensing.
