Betel nut is the dry and mature seed of areca catechu L.,which is originated in Malaysia and cultivated in Yunnan,hainan and Taiwan and other tropical areas of *** is also known as big belly,binmen,olive seed,green seed and so *** nut is a dual-use resource for medicine and food,which was first contained in LI Dang′s Pharmaceutical *** nut tastes bitter,pungent,warm in nature,and belongs to the stomach and large intestine *** contains a variety of chemical components such as alkaloids,phenolic compounds,polysaccharides,fatty acids,amino acids, flavonoids, minerals, terpenoids, and steroids. It has the advantages of promoting digestion, lowering blood pres sure, anti-depression, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory, and anti-parasites, antibacterial and other activities. The content of total phenols in fresh fruits of areca nut was 31.1%, mainly including catechin, isorhamnetin, chrysopanthoxanthin, luteolin, tannin and other polyphenols. The commonly used methods for determination of polyphenols in areca are vanil lin titration potassium permanganate titration and potassium ferricyanide spectrophotometry. The main activities and mechanisms of areca polyphenols include: ① Antidepressant effect: polyphenols bind to monoamine oxidase type A (MAO-A) receptors that inhibit the production of neurotransmitters, thereby increasing the content of amine transmitters in the brain and playing a therapeutic effect on depression. ② Antioxidant effect: polyphenols contain multiple adjacent hydroxyl groups, which are easily oxidized and can effectively remove superoxide anion free radical, hydroxyl free radi cal, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical, showing good antioxidant activity. ③ Bacteriostatic effect: polyphenols can spe cifically bind to the surface of bacteria, thus achieving bacteriostatic effect. Studies have found that betel nut polyphenols have varying degrees of inhibitory effects on a variety of bacteria. ④ Inducing apoptosis of lymphocytes:

Effect of ageing process on microstructure, corrosion behaviors and mechanical properties of Al-5.6Zn-1.6Mg-0.05Zr alloy

The influence of different ageing processes on the microstructure, corrosion behaviors and mechanical properties of extruded Al-5.6Zn-1.6Mg-0.05Zr(wt.%) alloy was studied in this work. The changes of morphology, size and distribution of MgZn_(2)precipitate with ageing temperature and time were revealed by optical and electron microscopy. Intergranular corrosion(IGC) and exfoliation corrosion(EXCO) tests were carried out to assess the changes in corrosion susceptibility of the tempered alloy, and some white spots on the surface of the sample aged for longer time were found to be precursors of pits. Electrochemical cyclic polarization test depicted the corrosion behavior under different tempers. Ageing influences on the mechanical behaviors of the alloy were revealed by evaluating its microhardness and tensile strength. The microscopic features of the strengthening phases determined by the ageing procedure directly affect the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the alloy.

Screening of Growth-Promoting Strains for areca Palm

[Objectives]The paper was to identify growth-promoting strains within the culturable bacterial flora of areca palm.[Methods]Culturable bacteria were isolated and identified from areca palm using samples obtained from both healthy and yellowing disease-affected plants within the same *** that exhibited significant differences between healthy and affected samples,or that were unique to the healthy samples,were subsequently screened for their growth-promoting effects.[Results]Three bacterial strains demonstrated robust and consistent capacity for auxin production,specifically Paenibacillus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens,each yielding approximately 50μg of IAA per mL of bacterial *** strain Alcaligenes faecalis exhibited the highest efficacy in siderophore production,achieving 21.15%of active ***,***,Bacillus velezensis,and *** were noted for their potassium-solubilizing capabilities,as evidenced by the presence of distinct potassium-solubilizing zones.[Conclusions]The evaluation of the aforementioned growth-promoting strains may offer valuable insights for the development of growth-promoting strains specifically for areca palm.

Detection and Identification of Phytoplasma of Cleome rutidosperma in areca Palm Yellow Leaf Disease Field

[Objectives]The paper was to detect and identify the phytoplasma of Cleome rutidosperma in areca palm yellow leaf disease(YLD)field in Wenchang City,hainan Province,China.[Methods]The nested PCR technique was employed to amplify the phytoplasma 16S rDNA of *** samples,followed by sequence ***,this study examined *** in YLD field,collecting symptomatic leaves for phytoplasma detection.[Results]The 16S rDNA sequence of the *** witches'-broom phytoplasma was found to be identical to that of the HNWC5 strain associated with areca palm yellows phytoplasma,leading to the identification of this phytoplasma as belonging to the 16SrII-A *** investigations revealed a higher incidence of *** in areca palm fields,with symptoms of leaf yellows observed in six of these *** PCR(qPCR)analysis confirmed the presence of phytoplasma infection in these instances.[Conclusions]Through the analysis of geographical distribution,sequence alignment,and field occurrence data,a significant correlation has been identified between witches'broom disease and *** is proposed that the former may act as an intermediate host for the areca palm yellows phytoplasma.

Influence of Boric Acid and Sucrose on the Germination and Growth of areca Pollen

This study investigates the effect of boric acid and sucrose on the germination and growth of areca catechu L (areca palm). Using areca pollen from hainan, China, this study determines the influence of culture media with different concentrations of boric acid and sucrose on the germination and growth of areca pollen. Results show that the germination and growth of the pollen tube growth are highest under a boric acid concentration of 0.4 g/L to 0.6 g/L. The germination rate of areca pollen is highest in solid medium with a sucrose concentration of 40 g/L. The optimum culture medium for developing areca pollen comprises 5 g/L agar, 0.4 g/L to 0.6 g/L boric acid, 40 g/L sucrose, and water. Furthermore, areca pollen grows most rapidly approximately 1.5 h after in vitro cultivation at normal temperature, and growth stabilizes at approximately 3 h. The principle that governs the development of areca pollen is also discussed.

Hydraulic pumps belong to reliable long-life hydraulic components. The reliability evaluation includes characters such as long test period,high cost,and high power loss and so on. Based on the principle of energy-saving and power recovery,a small sample hydraulic pump reliability test rig is built,and the service life of hydraulic pump is predicted,and then the sampling period of reliability test is optimized. On the basis of considering the performance degradation mechanism of hydraulic pump,the feature information of degradation distribution of hydraulic pump volumetric efficiency during the test is collected,so an optimal degradation path model of feature information is selected from the aspect of fitting accuracy,and pseudo life data are obtained. Then a small sample reliability test of period constrained optimization search strategy for hydraulic pump is constructed to solve the optimization problem of the test sampling period and tightening end threshold,and it is verified that the accuracy of the minimum sampling period by the non-parametric hypothes is tested. Simulation result shows it could possess instructional significance and referenced value for hydraulic pump reliability life evaluation and the test's research and design.

areca palm( areca cathecu L.) is an evergreen tree belonging to the palm family, with high medicinal and economic *** palm yellow leaf( AYL) disease associated with a phytoplasma is a devastating disease of areca *** diseases have been reported in China, India and Sri *** 16 Sr groups of phytoplasmas are associated with AYL disease, including 16 SrI-B subgroup in India and China, 16 Sr I-G subgroup in China, 16 Sr XI group in India, 16 Sr XIV Group in Sri *** disease reported in China is only associated with the phytoplasma belonging to 16 Sr I group,including two subgroups of 16 Sr I-B and 16 Sr *** the study, based on gene amplification and BALST analysis using primers P1/P7 and R16 mF2/R16 mR1 specific for phytoplasma 16 S rRNA gene fragments, the 16 S rRNA gene sequences of ’Candidatus Phytoplasma malaysianum’-related strains were obtained from the AYL samples that were collected from the hainan Island in China during 2021 *** virtual RFLP pattern derived from the query 16 S rDNA F2 nR2 fragment is identical( similarity coefficient 1.00) to the reference pattern of 16 Sr group ⅩⅩⅫ, subgroup D( GenBank accession;MW138004) using the interactive online phytoplasma classification tool *** phytoplasmas under study are a member of 16 Sr ⅩⅩⅫ-*** our knowledge, this was the first report that the areca palm displaying yellow leaf symptoms were infected by the ’ Candidatus Phytoplasma malaysianum’-related strains belonging to 16 Sr ⅩⅩⅫ *** findings would contribute to confirming the role of alternative host species in the plant diseases epidemiology of the plant diseases caused by the phytoplasmas and develop to the development of efficient management programs of for the related plant diseases.

areca palm yellow leaf( AYL) disease caused by phytoplasma is a devastating disease of areca palm *** is of great significance to clarify the genetic variation of phytoplasmas and their natural hosts in the garden of areca with yellow leaf diseases for the purpose of fully reveal the circulation path and epidemic law of the *** this study, the plant samples showing typical disease symptoms associated with phytoplasma were investigated and sampled from the diseased areca garden distributed in different areas of hainan Province, *** results showed that 16 S rRNA and secA gene fragments specific for phytoplasma was amplified from 6 plant sample of Trema tomentosa, which were all *** 16 S rRNA gene fragment of phytoplasma was obtained from one plant sample of *** analysis showed that the Trema tomentosa witches’-broom phytoplasma( TtWB) strains identified in the study were in 100% similarity with TtWB strains reported *** witches’-broom(CWB) phytoplasma strains identified in the study were in 100% similarity with CWB phytoplasma strains reported *** analysis indicated that TtWB strains were clustered into one evolutionary branch with the phytoplasmas belonging to 16 Sr ⅩⅩⅩⅫ group, CWB strains were clustered into one evolutionary branch with the phytoplasmas belonging to 16 SrI group.16 S rDNA sequence similarity of phytoplasma was 100% among the strains of CWB and *** is perfectly important for effective prevention and control of areca palm yellow leaf disease to timely clean up the natural hosts of phytoplasma such as chinaberry in areca diseased garden, eliminating the infection source and cutting off the transmission routes of the phytoplasma.

arecanut（areca cathecu L.） yellow disease is a destructive disease caused by the phytoplasma,a serious threat to the healthy development of arecanut industry in hainan Province for a long *** 16 S rRNA gene sequence was employed as the target to establish a rapid and efficient detection system for arecanut yellow leaf phytoplasma belonging to 16 SrI group in China by loop mediated isothermal amplification（LAMP） in the study,with testing the specificity,sensitivity and stability of the detection *** technology aiming to 16 SrI group arecanut yellow leaf phytoplasma in China was used to detect the samples of the arecanut yellow leaf disease from different areas of hainan *** results showed that two sets of LAMP detection primers,16 SrDNA-2 and 16 SrDNA-3 were obtained for the 16 SrI group arecanut yellow leaf phytoplasma in China based on the 16 S rRNA gene sequence,both with good specificity and stability;The lowest detection limit of sensitivity of the two sets of LAMP detection systems was the same,200 ag/μL;Phytoplasmas were all detected in arecanut yellow leaf disease samples from Baoting,Tunchang,Wanning in hainan province of China by using the two sets of LAMP primers 16 SrDNA-2 and 16 SrDNA-3,and no phytoplasma was detected in the negative *** detection technology is fast,efficient,easily operate and the results are visual,suitable for application and research in the rapid diagnosis of arecanut yellow disease in the field,the detection of seedlings with pathogen and the breeding of resistant arecanut *** is of great significance for the detection and identification of the arecanut yellow disease pathogen,the spread and scientific control of the disease.
