Epidemiology of Maternal Deaths from 2017 to 2022 in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department of the university hospital of tengandogo, Burkina Faso

Background: Although maternal mortality is declining in most countries, it remains a significant public health problem worldwide, with high rates, particularly in developing and insecure countries like ours. Objective: To study the epidemiological factors and factors associated with the occurrence of maternal death in the Gynecology-Obstetrics department of university hospital of tengandogo. Method: It was a retrospective case-control study with a descriptive and analytical purpose over a period of 6 years from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2022. Cases were women with maternal deaths during the study period. Data processing and analysis were performed using Stata version 13 software. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed with Stata version 13 software, and logistic regression modeling was used to estimate crude and adjusted odds ratios (OR), their 95% confidence intervals (CI), and the threshold for statistical significance was set at a p value hospital maternal mortality rate was 1933 deaths per 100,000 live births. The average age was 28.5 years. 58.9% of patients lived in rural areas. Married patients accounted for 88.7% of cases. The average parity was 3. Direct obstetrical causes were the main causes of death, accounting for 72.6%. They were dominated by post-partum hemorrhage (24.2%), puerperal infection (18.6%), pre-eclampsia/eclampsia (16.1%) and retroplacental hematoma (8.9%). Chronic anemia (12.9%) was the main indirect obstetric cause. Risk factors associated with maternal death were primiparity (OR for paucigravida and multigravida at 0.05; P = 0.001); ambulance transport (OR for patients referred and brought in by personal vehicle = 0.3, p < 0.001) and vaginal delivery (OR for cesarean deliveries = 0.4, p < 0.001). OBJECTIVE: To examine the influence of Saponin Ⅰ from Shuitianqi(Rhizoma Schizocapasae Plantagineae)(SSPH Ⅰ) on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) metastasis,and to elucidate the underlying ***: The intrahepatic metastasis Bagg's Albino/c(BALB/c) mouse model was established with human hepatocellular carcinomas(HepG2) cells, then treated with normal saline(once per day), cisplatin(2 mg/kg, once every 2 d), and SSPH Ⅰ(25, 50, and 75 mg/kg, once per day). Then, we assessed alterations in the hepatic pathology and target protein expressions in the intrahepatic metastasis BALB/c mouse model using a series of molecular biology ***: Based on our analysis, SSPH Ⅰ significantly alleviated hepatocyte necrosis and tumor cells ***, SSPH Ⅰ suppressed extracellular matrix(ECM) degradation and angiogenesis via a decrease in matrix etalloproteinase-2(MMP-2), MMP-9, CD31, CD34,and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) ***, SSPH Ⅰ repressed invasion and metastasis by suppressing the transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β 1)/Smad7 axis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT), as evidenced by the scarce TGF-β1, Ncadherin, and Vimentin expressions, and elevated Smad7 and E-cadherin ***: The SSPH Ⅰ-mediated negative regulation of the TGF-β 1/Smad7 axis and EMT are critical for the inhibition of HCC invasion and metastasis.

New pimarane diterpenoids with antibacterial activity from fungus Arthrinium ***03

A comprehensive chemical study of the endophytic fungus Arthrinium sp. ZS03, associated with Acorus tatarinowii Schott, yielded eleven pimarane diterpenoids (compounds 1–11), including seven novel compounds designated arthrinoids A–G (1–7). The determination of their structures and absolute configurations was achieved through extensive spectroscopic techniques, quantum chemical calculations of electronic circular dichroism (ECD), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Furthermore, 7 demonstrated inhibitory activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae, comparable to the reference antibiotic amikacin, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 8 μg·mL^(−1).

Gabapentinoid drugs(pregabalin and gabapentin) have been successfully used in the treatment of neuro pathic pain and in focal seizure *** research has demonstrated their potent activities in modulating neurotransmitter release in neuronal tissue,oxidative stress,and inflammation,which matches the mechanism of action via voltage-gated calcium *** this review,we briefly elaborate on the medicinal history and ligand-binding sites of *** systematically summarize the preclinical and clinical research on gabapentinoids in stroke,including ischemic stro ke,intracerebral hemorrhage,subarachnoid hemorrhage,seizures after stro ke,cortical spreading depolarization after stroke,pain after stroke,and nerve regeneration after stro *** review also discusses the potential to rgets of gabapentinoids in stroke;however,the existing results are still unce rtain regarding the effect of gabapentinoids on stroke and related *** preclinical and clinical trials are needed to test the therapeutic potential of gabapentinoids in ***,gabapentinoids have both opportunities and challenges in the treatment of stroke.

Kelp Fucoidans Facilitate Vascular Recanalization via Inhibiting Excessive Activation of Platelet in Deep Venous Thrombosis Model of Mouse

This study was carried out explore the mechanism underlying the inhibition of platelet activation by kelp fucoidans in deep venous thrombosis(DVT)*** the control and sham mice,the walls of deep vein were regular and smooth with intact intima,myometrium and *** blood vessel was wrapped with the tissue and there was no thrombosis in the *** the DVT model,the wall was uneven with thicken intima,myometrium and *** treated with fucoidans LF1 and LF2,the thrombus was dissolved and the blood vessel was *** with the control group,the ROS content,ET-1 and VWF content and the expression of PKC-βand NF-κB in the model were significantly higher(P<0.05);these levels were significantly reduced following treatments with LF2 and *** with H_(2)O_(2)treated-HUVECs,combined LF1 and LF2 treatment resulted in significant decrease in the expression of PKC-β,NF-κB,VWF and TM protein(P<0.05).It is clear that LF1 and LF2 reduces DVT-induced ET-1,VWF and TM expressions and production of ROS,thus inhibiting the activation of PKC-β/NF-κB signal pathway and the activation of coagulation system and ultimately reducing the formation of venous thrombus.

Remodeling the tumor microenvironment by vascular normalization and GSH-depletion for augmenting tumor immunotherapy

Remodeling tumor microenvironment(TME)is a very promising and effective strategy to enhance the effects of chemotherapy,photodynamic therapy,and *** of tumor vasculature as well as depletion of glutathione(GSH)can improve the ***,we developed a novel therapeutic nanoparticle functional enzyme ultra QDAU5 nanoparticles(FEUQ Nps)based on a fluorescence-on and releasable strategy by combining a vascular normalization inducer,a GSH depleting agent,and an activated *** which the cleavage of disulfide bonds releases active molecules that induce vascular normalization and improve the hypoxic *** addition,it may deplete GSH in cancer cells,thus inducing the production of reactive oxygen species(ROS)and lipid peroxide(LPO)and promoting iron *** may also lead to endoplasmic stress and release of calmodulin,which activates the immune ***,quenched fluorophores are turned on in the presence of galactosidase(GLU)for tumor-specific *** summary,we developed novel therapeutic agent nanoparticles with the function of vascular normalization inducers to achieve specific labeling of hepatocellular carcinoma while exerting efficient antitumor effects in vivo.

Background:The European Society for Medical Oncology(ESMO)guidelines are among the most comprehensive and widely used clinical practice guidelines(CPGs)***,the level of scientific evidence supporting ESMO CPG recommendations has not been systematically *** study assessed ESMO CPG levels of evidence(LOE)and grades of recommendations(GOR),as well as their trends over time across various cancer ***:We manually extracted every recommendation with the Infectious Diseases Society of America(IDSA)classification from each *** examined the distribution of LOE and GOR in all available ESMO CPG guidelines across different topics and cancer ***:Among the 1,823 recommendations in the current CPG,30%were classified as LOEⅠ,and 43%were classified as GOR ***,there was a slight decrease in LOEⅠ(−2%)and an increase in the proportion of GOR A(+1%)in the current CPG compared to previous *** proportion of GOR A recommendations based on higher levels of evidence such as randomized trials(LOEⅠ–Ⅱ)shows a decrease(71%vs.63%,p=0.009)while recommendations based on lower levels of evidence(LOEⅢ–Ⅴ)show an increase(29%vs.37%,p=0.01)between previous and current *** the current versions,the highest proportion of LOEⅠ(42%)was found in recommendations related to pharmacotherapy,while the highest proportion of GOR A recommendations was found in the areas of pathology(50%)and diagnostic(50%)*** variability in LOEⅠand GOR A recommendations and their changes over time was observed across different cancer ***:One-third of the current ESMO CPG recommendations are supported by the highest level of *** well-designed randomized clinical trials are needed to increase the proportion of LOEⅠand GOR A recommendations,ultimately leading to improved outcomes for cancer patients.

Sustained release of vascular endothelial growth factor A and basic fibroblast growth factor from nanofiber membranes reduces oxygen/glucose deprivation-induced injury to neurovascular units

Upregulation of vascular endothelial growth factor A/basic fibroblast growth factor(VEGFA/b FGF)expression in the penumbra of cerebral ischemia can increase vascular volume,reduce lesion volume,and enhance neural cell proliferation and differentiation,thereby exerting neuroprotective ***,the beneficial effects of endogenous VEGFA/b FGF are limited as their expression is only transiently *** this study,we generated multilayered nanofiber membranes loaded with VEGFA/b FGF using layer-by-layer self-assembly and electrospinning *** found that a membrane containing 10 layers had an ideal ultrastructure and could efficiently and stably release growth factors for more than 1 *** 10-layered nanofiber membrane promoted brain microvascular endothelial cell tube formation and proliferation,inhibited neuronal apoptosis,upregulated the expression of tight junction proteins,and improved the viability of various cellular components of neurovascular units under conditions of oxygen/glucose ***,this nanofiber membrane decreased the expression of Janus kinase-2/signal transducer and activator of transcription-3(JAK2/STAT3),Bax/Bcl-2,and cleaved ***,this nanofiber membrane exhibits a neuroprotective effect on oxygen/glucose-deprived neurovascular units by inhibiting the JAK2/STAT3 pathway.

Curcumin inhibits colorectal cancer development by blocking the YAP/TAZ signaling axis

Background:Curcumin is a plant polyphenol with antitumor properties and inhibits the development of colorectal cancer(CRC).However,as the molecular mechanism associated is still unclear,our study aimed to explore the underlying molecular mechanisms by which curcumin inhibits ***:HT29 and SW480 cells were treated with curcumin or/and Doxycycline(DOX),and cell viability,colony forming ability,migration and invasion were conﬁrmed by cell counting kit-8(CCK-8),colony forming,Transwell *** Yes-associated protein 1(YAP)and PDZ-binding motif(TAZ)signaling-related genes or proteins were analyzed using reverse transcription quantitative real-time PCR(RT-qPCR),western blot,and immunoﬂuorescence *** nude mice xenograft tumor model was constructed,YAP and Ki67 expressions were tested by immunohistochemistry(IHC)***:In our study,we proved that curcumin signiﬁcantly inhibited the CRC cell viability,cell migration,and cell invasion *** addition,curcumin inhibited YAP and Transcriptional coactivator with TAZ or the YAP/TAZ signaling axis in CRC ***,in the nude mice model,curcumin treatment signiﬁcantly decreased the size and weight of xenotransplant ***:Therefore,curcumin signiﬁcantly inhibited CRC development and invasion by regulating the YAP/TAZ signaling axis.
