PIV Measurements of Flows around the Wind Turbines with a Flanged-Diffuser Shroud

The wind turbines with a flanged-diffuser shroud -so called ＂wind lens turbine＂- are developed as one of high performance wind turbines by Ohya et al. In order to investigate the flow characteristics and flow acceleration, the paper presents the flow velocity measurements of a long-type and a compact-type wind turbines with a flanged-diffuser shroud by particle image velocimetry. In the case of the long type wind turbine, the velocity vec- tors of the inner flow field of the diffuser for turbine blades rotating and no blades rotating are presented at Rey- nolds number, 0.9x105. Fur^thermore the flow fields between with and without rotating are compared. Through the PIV measurement results, one can realize that the turbine blades rotating affects as suppress the disturbance and the flow separation near the inner wall of the diffuser. The time average velocity vectors are made on the av- erage of the instantaneous velocity data. There are two large vortices in downstream region of the diffuser. One vortex behind the flange acts as suck in wind to the diffuser and raise the inlet flow velocity. Another large vortex appears in downstream. It might be act as blockage vortex of main flow. The large blockage vortex is not clear in the instantaneous velocity vectors, however it exists clearly in the time average flow field. The flow field around the wind turbine with a compact-type flanged-diffuser shroud is also investigated. The flow pattern behind the flange of the compact-type turbine is the same as the long-type one. It means that the effect of flow acceleration is caused by the unsteady vortices behind the flange. The comparison with CFD and PIV results of meridional time-average streamlines after the compact-type diffuser is also presented.

Cavitation is one of the major problems in the development of rocket engines. There have been few experimental studies to visualize cryogenic foil cavitation. Therefore a new cryogenic cavitation tunnel of blowdown type was built. The foil shape is “piano-convex”. This profile was chosen because of simplicity, but also of being similar to the one for a rocket inducer impeller. Working fluids were water at room temperature, hot water and liquid nitrogen. In case of Angle of Attack （AOA）=8°, periodical cavity departure was observed in the experiments of both water at 90℃ and nitrogen at -190℃ under the same velocity 10 m/sec and the same cavitation number 0.7. The frequencies were observed to be 110 and 90 Hz, respectively, and almost coincided with those of vortex shedding from the foil. Temperature depression due to the thermodynamic effect was confirmed in both experiment and simulation especially in the cryogenic cavitation.

For the steering vibration problem of the passenger car under low engine speed conditions,this paper introduces some solutions to solve the steering wheel *** this car,the steering wheel vibration problem is analysed and solved by means of experiment and finite element simulation *** steering wheel vibration under low engine speed conditions is caused by the steering column oblique 45°swing mode which is coupling with the engine room torsion *** on the fuel consumption performance,countermeasures are reviewed from the body response *** solution that the steering wheel SRS module is used as the dynamic damper is taken finally and has been verified by *** the stiffness of the rubber by changing its shape connecting the SRS to the steering wheel body significantly reduces the vibration of the steering wheel and achieves the project target.

In this paper,the generation mechanism and control strategy of acceleration engine noise of passenger car are *** at the acceleration engine noise of medium and high frequency,based on the V-Flow development process and combined with simulation and test,the full vehicle noise problem is cascaded into the full vehicle vibration problem,and further cascaded into the local dynamic stiffness ***,the method of simplified simulation model is put forward to carry out the prediction and countermeasure analysis of the preliminary development,which shortens the time of simulation calculation under the premise of ensuring the calculation *** efficient solution to the problem of acceleration engine noise caused by insufficient local dynamic stiffness is found and applied to the actual development of *** adding stiffener bracket to the sub frame,the dynamic stiffness of the rear mounting point behind the powertrain is *** acceleration engine noise in the 500 Hz frequency band under the slow acceleration condition is improved,and the development target of the new model is achieved.

In the present paper the attention is focused on the relation between vortex shedding phenomena and acoustic resonance which occurred in the two-dimensional model of boiler. There were tube banks with in-line arrangement for small tube pitch ratio. We measured the sound pressure level, the phase delay of acoustic pressures, the spectrum of velocity fluctuation and the gap velocity. As a result, we found two peak frequencies of sound pressure level with different Strouhal numbers St, mainly about 0.26 and 0,52, The noise of St=0.26 was the resonance of transverse mode and St=0.52 was longitudinal mode. The vortex shedding of St=0.15 was generated inside the tube banks without acoustic resonance. As gap velocity increased, we observed that the peak level of spectrum was weak and broad-banded, The onset velocity of the acoustic resonance of longitudinal mode was lower than that of transverse mode.

A body frame composed of thin sheet metal is a crucial structure that determines the safety performance of a *** a correct weight and high-performance automotive body is an emerging engineering *** improve the performance of the automotive frame,we attempt to reconstruct its design criteria based on statistical and mechanical *** first,a fundamental study on the frame strength is conducted and a cross-sectional shape optimization problem is developed for designing the cross-sectional shape of an automobile frame having a very high mass efficiency for *** optimization is carried out using the nonlinear finite element method and a meta-modeling-based genetic *** analysis of the obtained set of optimal results is performed to identify the dominant design variables by employing the smoothing spline analysis of variance,the principal component analysis,and the self-organizing map *** relationship between the cross-sectional shape and the objective function is also analyzed by hierarchical clustering.A design guideline is obtained from these statistical approach results.A comparison between the statistically obtained design guideline and the conventional one based on the designers’experience is performed based on mechanical interpretation of the optimal cross-sectional ***,a mechanically reasonable new general-purpose design guideline is proposed for the cross-sectional shape of the automotive frame.
