Nutrient Balance in Relation to High Yield and Good Quality of Potato on an Acid Purple Soil in Chongqing,China

A field experiment was carried out to study nutrient balance among N, P, K and Mg in potato cultivation on an acid purple soil in Chongqing, China. The experiment included 8 treatments with equal P rate of 120 kg P2O5 hm-2: N0K2, N1K2, N2K2, N3K2, N2K0, N2K1, N2K1Mg and N2K3, where N0, N1, N2 and N3 stand for the N rates of 0, 75, 150 and 225 kg N hm-2, and K0, K1, K2 and K3 for the K rates of 0, 165, 330 and 495 kg K2O hm-2, respectively. Among the treatments designed, Thatment N2K2 with a nutrient supply ratio of N:P2O5:K2O:MgO = 1.25:1:2.75:0.28 gave the highest tuber yield and dry matter, highest starch and Zn and lowest NO3- contents in tuber, and high N, P and K use efficiency with an uptake ratio of N:P:K:Mg = 11.38:1:13.32:0.33 by tuber. Yield and starch and protein contents of tuber were the lowest in Treatment N0K2. Dry matter was the lowest but protein and NO3- contents were the highest in Treatment N2K0. Treatment N2K1Mg had the highest N, P and K utilization rates. Statistical analysis showed that yields of tuber and starch were in a positive linear correlation with the uptake amount of various nutrients and protein of the potato tuber was in a significantly positive linear correlation with tuber N cotent and in a significantly negative linear correlation with tuber K and Mg contents. Balanced application of N, P, K and Mg fertilizers (Treatmeat N2K2) was recommended for realization of high yield and good quality in potato cultivation.

Fe-Cr-Mn(W, V) austenite steels used as low radioactive structural materialsin fusion reactor have been investigated. The results show that the high temperature strength andthe creep fracture life of Fe-Cr-Mn(W, V) steels can be effectively improved through (C+N)complex-strengthening, so can be the high temperature ductility. The strength and ductility of thesteels are superior to that of SUS316 steels and JPCAS below 673 K. The relationship betweenstrength, ductility and the formation temperature is related to the evolution of deformationmicrostructure. The fracture and microstructure observation above 673 K indicates that the main wayto further improve ductility at high temperature is the control of carbide coarsening at the grainboundaries.

An inverse analysis algorithm is proposed for estimating liquid phase flowfield from measurement data of bubble motion. This kind of technology will be applied in future forvarious estimation of fluid flow in rivers, lakes, sea surface flow, and also microscopic channelflow as the problem-handling in civil, mechanical, electronic, and chemical engineering. Therelationship between the dispersion motion and the carrier phase flow is governed and expressed bythe trans-lational motion equation of spherical dispersion. The equation consists of all the forcecomponents including inertia, added inertia, drag, lift, pressure gradient force and gravity *** this equation enables us to estimate the carrier phase flow structure using only the data ofthe dispersion motioa Whole field liquid flow structure is also estimated using spatial or temporalinterpolation method. In order to verify this principle, the Taylor-Green vortex flow, and theKarman vortex shedding from a square cylinder have been chosea The results show that the combinationof the inverse analysis and Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV) with the spatio-temporalpostprocessing algorithm could reconstruct well the carrier phase flow of the gas-liquid two-phaseflow.

42 cases of dilatation (7-15 mm) of extrahepatic bile duct after ceosunin injection (cholagogic method) were observed ultrasonographically. Among the 18 cases of testified obstructive lesions of the bile duct, 13 (72%) showed widening of the bile duct with an increase of calibre from 9.8 mm to 11.7 mm, 3 (16%) had no obvious change, and 2 (12%) shrank. Among the 24 cases of non-obstruction 22 (92%) shrank with a decrease calibre from 9.6 mm to 6.3 mm, and 2 (8%) showed no obvious change. After receiving cholagogue, 9 cases of periampullary carcinoma in the obstructive group were confronted with widening of the bile duct calibre. After longitudinal and transverse rotation scanning method was used, 8 of the 9 cases had their tumor mass visualized. Combined cholagogic and rotation scanning methods raised the lesion manifestation rate of lower bile duct from 41% to 88%. A dilated bile duct unable to show shrinkage of calibre after cholagogue injection is believed to be a criterion for judging the presence of

Bubble-bubble interaction in free rising bubbly flows is experimentally investigated in the present study. The velocity vectors of the bubbles are measured by a stereoscopic bubble-tracking technique and then the relative velocity vectors of two nearest-neighbor bubbles are calculated with high statistical reliability. With the measurement data at Reynolds number ranging from 5 to 75, the vertical attraction and the horizontal repulsion are confirmed for Re30 have repulsive velocity bothin the horizontal and the vertical directions as those rise closely. Moreover, the three-dimensional structure of the bubble-bubble interaction is discussed with the data analysis of the interaction vector fields.

A Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) method based on the image separation andreconstruction with the median filter and triangular Bezier patch was proposed to measure multiplevelocity fields from single-camera images in the present study. The method was examined on syntheticPIV images with the Green-Taylor two-phase vortex flows and the test results showed high accuracyand highly correct tracking percent compared with the exact solution. An experiment of the bubblyjet flow was also conducted as a practical demonstration of the present method. As a result, it isconfirmed from the simulation image examination and the experimental measurement that the proposedmethod shows a good performance in the measurement of bubble and particle phases.

Aromatic H／D Exchange Reaction Catalyzed by Groups 5 and 6 Metal Chlorides

Groups 5 and 6 metal chlorides such as MoCl 5 , WCl 6 , NbCl 5 and TaCl 5 were found to be simple and very efficient catalysts for the aromatic H/D exchange reactions. Compared with other metal chlorides such as ZnCl 2 , SnCl 4 and TiCl 4 , groups 5 and 6 metal chlorides showed better catalytic activity in the H/D exchange reaction of naphthalene with C 6 D 6 . Deuteration of anthracene using MoCl 5 as a catalyst proceeded within 24 h at room temperature. Other aromatic compounds such as toluene, diphenylmethane and 1,1,2‐triphenylethane were also deuterated smoothly in C 6 D 6 within 24 h at room temperature.

Auxin response factors (ARFs) play a central role in plants as transcriptional factors in response to auxin. The Arabidopsis ARF8 gene is a light-inducible gene and ARF8 protein might control auxin homeostasis in a negative feed-back fashion through regulation of GH3 gene expression. In a double mutant designated infertile line including arf8-1 (a T-DNA insertion mutant of ARF8), we isolated fertility1-1 (fer1-1), a mutant of Fer1, which acts synergistically with ARF8 to control the development of the anther and filament in Arabidopsis. Genetics analysis has demonstrated that fer 1-1 is a T-DNA insertion line, indicating that Fer1 might be cloned by inverse polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or the TAIL-PCR approach. Phenotypic identification and molecular analysis of fer 1-1 and the infertile line will be helpful to characterize the function of Fer1, to further study the function of ARF8, and to reveal the molecular mechanism underlying the interaction of Fer1 and ARF8 in controlling development of the anther and filament.
