Intranasal administration of stem cell-derived exosomes for central nervous system diseases

Exosomes,lipid bilayer-enclosed small cellular vesicles,are actively secreted by various cells and play crucial roles in intercellular *** nanosized vesicles transport internalized proteins,mRNA,miRNA,and other bioactive *** findings have provided compelling evidence that exosomes derived from stem cells hold great promise as a therapeutic modality for central nervous system *** exosomes exhibit multifaceted properties including antiapoptotic,anti-inflammatory,neurogenic,and vasculogenic ***,exosomes offer several advantages over stem cell therapy,such as high preservation capacity,low immunogenicity,the ability to traverse the blood-brain barrier,and the potential for drug ***,researchers have turned their attention to exosomes as a novel therapeutic ***,akin to the limitations of stem cell treatment,the limited accumulation of exosomes in the injured brain poses a challenge to their clinical *** overcome this hurdle,intranasal administration has emerged as a non-invasive and efficacious route for delivering drugs to the central nervous *** exploiting the olfactory and trigeminal nerve axons,this approach enables the direct transport of therapeutics to the brain while bypassing the blood-brain ***,exosomes,owing to their small size,can readily access the nerve pathways using this *** a result,intranasal administration has gained increasing recognition as an optimal therapeutic strategy for exosomebased *** this comprehensive review,we aim to provide an overview of both basic and clinical research studies investigating the intranasal administration of exosomes for the treatment of central nervous system ***,we elucidate the underlying therapeutic mechanisms and offer insights into the prospect of this approach.

Recent Progress on Water-based Liquid Embolic Agents in Endovascular Treatment

Vascular embolization treatment, a minimally invasive surgery for various blood vessel-related conditions, has emerged as a crucial method in treating such as hemorrhage, arteriovenous malformation, aneurysms, and hypervascular tumors. Liquid embolic agents are gaining prominence due to their distinct advantage in infiltrating distal regions, expanding the scope of embolization beyond the reach of solid agents. Recent strides in biomaterials and technologies have spurred the development of novel liquid embolic agents, addressing challenges posed by traditional options. This mini-review provides a concise overview of the recent progress in water-based liquid embolic agents, highlighting their potential to overcome limitations associated with current embolic materials. By presenting selected research outcomes, we illuminate advancements that enhance the efficacy of liquid embolic agents. Furthermore, the review outlines essential properties for effective liquid embolic agents, offering insights for future developments in this field.

Analysis of deformation mechanisms in magnesium single crystals using a dedicated four-point bending tester

In this study,we explored the deformation mechanisms of Mg single crystals using a combination of scanning electron microscopy and electron backscattered diffraction in conjunction with a dedicated four-point bending *** prepared two single-crystal samples,oriented along theanddirections,to assess the mechanisms of deformation when the initial basal slip was *** thesample,the primary{1012}twin(T1)was confirmed along thedirection of the sample on the compression side with an increase in bending *** thesample,T1 and the secondary twin(T2)were confirmed to be along thedirection,with an orientation of±60°with respect to the bending stress direction,and their direction matched with(0001)in T1 and *** result implies that crystallographically,the basal slip occurs *** addition,thesample showed the double twin in T1 on the compression side and the tertiary twin along thedirection on the tension *** results demonstrated that the maximum bending stress and displacement changed significantly under the bend loading because the deformation mechanisms were different for these single ***,the correlation between bending behavior and twin orientation was determined,which would be helpful for optimizing the bending properties of Mg-based materials.

Enhancing corrosion resistance of plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings on AM50 Mg alloy by inhibitor containing Ba(NO_(3))_(2) solutions

To enhance the long-term corrosion resistance of the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)coating on the magnesium(Mg)alloy,an inorganic salt combined with corrosion inhibitors was used for posttreatment of the *** this study,the corrosion performance of PEO-coated AM50 Mg was significantly improved by loading sodium lauryl sulfonate(SDS)and sodium dodecyl benzene sulf-onate into Ba(NO_(3))_(2) post-sealing *** electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectrometer,and ultraviolet-visible analyses showed that the inhibitors enhanced the incorporation of BaO_(2) into PEO *** impedance showed that post-sealing in Ba(NO_(3))_(2)/SDS treatment enhanced corrosion resistance by three orders of *** total impedance value remained at 926Ω·cm^(2)after immersing in a 0.5wt%NaCl solution for 768 h.A salt spray test for 40 days did not show any obvious region of corrosion,proving excellent post-sealing by Ba(NO_(3))_(2)/SDS *** corrosion resistance of the coating was enhanced through the synergistic effect of BaO2 pore sealing and SDS adsorption.

Transformed gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma originating in the colon and developing metachronously after Helicobacter pylori eradication:A case report

BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori(***)eradication treatment for primary gastric mucosaassociated lymphoid tissue(MALT)lymphoma has already been ***,t(11;18)(q21;q21)/API2-MALT1 translocation-positive lesions are a type of primary gastric MALT lymphoma in which a response to eradication treatment is difficult to *** addition,trisomy 18 may be associated with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)transformation of gastric MALT *** SUMMARY A 66-year-old man was diagnosed with MALT lymphoma in the ascending colon by colonoscopy and *** years later,esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed chronic atrophic gastritis that was positive for ***,and eradication treatment was *** years and nine months later(at the age of 70),a new ulcerative lesion suggestive of MALT lymphoma appeared in the gastric body,and six months later,a similar lesion was also found in the *** year later(4 years and 3 months after *** eradication),at the age of 72,the lesion in the gastric body had become deeper and had propagated.A biopsy revealed a pathological diagnosis of *** MALT lymphoma lesions in the ascending colon and DLBCL lesions in the stomach were positive for the t(11;18)(q21;q21)/API2-MALT1 translocation,and trisomy 18q21 was also *** 6 courses of R-CHOP(rituximab,cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine and prednisone)chemotherapy,all of the above lesions disappeared[complete remission(CR)],and CR has been maintained for more than 3 *** addition,both the colonic and gastric lesions were proven to have the same *** Because the patient had a MALT1 translocation with trisomy 18q21,it was thought that this gastric MALT lymphoma developed independently of *** infection and progressed.

Metal–N–C single‐atom catalysts,mostly prepared from pyrolysis of metalorganic precursors,are widely used in heterogeneous *** metal sites with diverse local structures coexist in this type of material and it is challenging to characterize the local structure,a reliable structure–property relationship is difficult to *** macrocyclic complexes adsorbed on carbon support are well‐defined models to mimic the singleatom ***–N_(4)site with four electroneutral pyridine‐type ligands embedded in a graphene layer is the most commonly proposed structure of the active site of single‐atom catalysts,but its molecular counterpart has not been *** this work,we synthesized the conjugated macrocyclic complexes with a metal center(Co,Fe,or Ni)coordinated with four electroneutral pyridinic ligands as model catalysts for CO_(2)*** comparison,the complexes with anionic quadri‐pyridine macrocyclic ligand were also *** Co complex with the electroneutral ligand expressed a turnover frequency of CO formation more than an order of magnitude higher than that of the Co complex with the anionic *** ab initio molecular dynamics simulations based on the well‐defined structures of the model catalysts indicate that the Co complex with the electroneutral ligand possesses a stronger ability to mediate electron transfer from carbon to CO_(2).

γ-Butyrolactone structures are commonly found in various natural products and serve as crucial building blocks in organic ***,the development of methods for synthesizingγ-butyrolactones has garnered significant interest within the organic synthesis *** this study,we present a direct and highly efficient approach for the synthesis ofγ-butyrolactones from allylic ***,this study represents the first instance ofγ-butyrolactone synthesis initiated by radical hydrocarboxylation using CO_(2)^(•–),generated from metal formates,followed by *** two-step process is achieved through the synergistic interaction of photoredox and hydrogen atom transfer(HAT)catalysis,resulting in the production ofγ-butyrolactones with exceptional ***,when employingα,α-diaryl allylic alcohol derivatives as substrates,the reaction involves 1,2-aryl migration,which occurs concomitantly with CO_(2)^(•–)addition,leading to the formation of 4,5-substituted lactones in a good *** artificial force induced reaction(AFIR)method identified the preferred 1,2-aryl migration pathway along with potential byproduct pathways,in which the targeted 1,2-migration was found to be the most plausible pathway.

Z-shaped incision without epithelial resection in pterygium surgery

AIM:To introduce a novel surgical technique using a Z-shaped incision without epithelial resection in ophthalmic ***:This was a prospective *** pterygium surgery,all proliferative tissues were separated from the cornea and conjunctiva without resection of the *** unaffected conjunctiva was incised in a *** upper(or lower)conjunctival flap was sutured to the lower(or upper)normal conjunctiva on the limbal sclera,while the proliferative tissue was sutured to the upper conjunctiva(or lower)near the ***:Ten patients with pterygia were eligible for this *** patients with primary pterygia and 2 with recurrent pterygia were *** age of patients at surgery ranged from 47 to 90y(average:71.9y).Five patients each showed right and left-sided *** postoperative follow-up periods were from 8 to 78mo(average:25.0mo).The surgery was successfully conducted and wounds were favorably reconstructed in all *** proliferative tissues sutured to the normal conjunctiva showed palor and attenuated neovessles,and never showed re-growth after *** patients did not show *** pterygium was noted in 1 patient,but additional treatments were not ***:The procedure involves the reconstruction of pterygial tissue and normal conjunctiva using a Z-shaped *** scleral limbal wound can be covered with nonaffected conjunctiva without any excision of conjunctival epithelia in patients with primary or recurrent pterygia.

Spray,droplet evaporation,combustion,and emission characteristics of future transport fuels for compression-ignition engines:A review

This review examines the potential of hydrogen,ammonia,and biodiesel as alternative fuels,focusing on spray dynamics,droplet evaporation,combustion,and *** offers superior combustion characteristics but faces challenges in NO_(x)*** like nonpremixed direct injection,increased intake boost pressure,and low-pressure EGR are suggested for robust hydrogen combustion in compression-ignition *** of hydrogen start of injection(SOI)and water injection(WI)are identified as effective techniques for reducing NO_(x)*** shows inferior combustion and higher NO_(x)and unburned NH_(3)emissions in the same conditions as conventional fuels with conventional *** ammonia spray and evaporation conditions is significant for optimizing an ammonia-air mixture and minimizing wall impingement and ammonia trap in the crevice,thereby improving combustion and emission *** intake pressure,injection pressure,and EGR rate,employing a turbulent jet,and preheating ammonia improve efficiency and reduce NO_(x)*** ammonia combustion requires the implementation of after-treatment systems such as NH_(3)adsorber and De NO_(x)catalysts to mitigate unburned NH_(3)and NO_(x)*** affects the fuel supply system,combustion,and emission characteristics according to its viscosity and *** injection pressure and blending with volatile fuels enhance spray and *** biodiesel preheating temperatures for the injection pump and injector are crucial for achieving the best pump capacity and spray *** utilizing biodiesel-PODE blends and investigating low-temperature biodiesel combustions,there is potential to improve thermal efficiency and PMNO_(x)***,carbon-neutral fuel adoption should be accelerated to mitigate CO_(2)emissions,highlighting the importance of combustion techniques and emissions reduction strategies.
