Urea oxidation reaction(UOR)is proposed as an exemplary half-reaction in renewable energy applications because of its low thermodynamical potential.However,challenges persist due to sluggish reaction kinetics and complex by-products separation.To this end,we introduce the lattice oxygen oxidation mechanism(LOM),propelling a novel UOR route using a modified CoFe layered double hydroxide(LDH)catalyst termed CFRO-7.Theoretical calculations and in-situ characterizations highlight the activated lattice oxygen(O_(L))within CFRO-7 as pivotal sites for UOR,optimizing the reaction pathway and accelerating the kinetics.For the urea overall electrolysis application,the LOM route only requires a low voltage of 1.54 V to offer a high current of 100 mA cm^(-2) for long-term utilization(>48 h).Importantly,the by-product NCO^(-)−is significantly suppressed,while the CO_(2)2/N_(2) separation is efficiently achieved.This work proposed a pioneering paradigm,invoking the LOM pathway in urea electrolysis to expedite reaction dynamics and enhance product selectivity.

The air entrainment for avoiding cavitation damage has been widely used in long free flow tunnels. It is crucial to determine whether an aerator is needed for shorter tunnels. In this article, the bottom discharge tunnel at the Longtan Hydropower Station was involved, for which the free flow tunnel section was only 50.00 m long. The cavitation in the tunnel with and without the aerator was investigated using the physical models of the scale 1/30, through the measurements of cavitation noise. The experimental results show that it is necessary to place the aerator at the inlet of the free flow section for higher reservoir level to protect this tunnel from cavitation damage.

Scale effects play critical roles in the mechanical responses of microstructures.An isogeometric analysis was developed here to investigate the mechanical responses of an axially functionally graded microbeam.The Euler–Bernoulli beam model was utilized,and size effects in the structure were modeled with a stress-driven two-phase local/nonlocal integral constitution.The governing equation of microstructures was given in an equivalent differential form with two additional constitutive boundary conditions.The framework was verified and utilized to analyze the microbeam’s static and dynamic mechanical responses.The present work showed great potential for modeling various types of functionally graded microstructures.

An Innovative Coupled Common-Node Discrete Element Method-Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Model Developed with LS-DYNA and Its Applications

In this study,a common-node DEM-SPH coupling model based on the shared node method is proposed,and a fluid–structure coupling method using the common-node discrete element method-smoothed particle hydrodynamics(DS-SPH)method is developed using LS-DYNA software.The DEM and SPH are established on the same node to create common-node DEM-SPH particles,allowing for fluid–structure interactions.Numerical simulations of various scenarios,including water entry of a rigid sphere,dam-break propagation over wet beds,impact on an ice plate floating on water and ice accumulation on offshore structures,are conducted.The interaction between DS particles and SPH fluid and the crack generation mechanism and expansion characteristics of the ice plate under the interaction of structure and fluid are also studied.The results are compared with available data to verify the proposed coupling method.Notably,the simulation results demonstrated that controlling the cutoff pressure of internal SPH particles could effectively control particle splashing during ice crushing failure.

A 3- D free surface flow in open channels based on the Reynolds equations with the k-ε turbulence closure model is presented in this paper. Insted of the 'rigid lid' approximation, the solution of the free surface equation is implemented in the velocity-pressure iterative procedure on the basis of the conventional SIMPLE method. This model was used to compute the flow in rectangular channels with trenches dredged across the bottom. The velocity, eddy viscosity coefficient, turbulent shear stress, turbulent kinetic energy and elevation of the free surface can be obtained. The computed results are in good agreement with previous experimental data.

To study the stratified stability of a water column in the North Passage of the Yangtze River Estuary,a numerical model of the hydrodynamics of this estuary is established using the EFDC model.On the basis of EFDC results,this paper derives and pro-vides the discriminative index of water body stability caused by salinity and analyzes the along-range variation in water body strati-fication stability in the North Passage of the Yangtze River Estuary and the periodic variation at a key location(bend area)based on the simulation results of the numerical model.This work shows that the water body in the bend area varies between mixed and strati-fied types,and the vertical average flow velocity has a good negative correlation with the differential velocity between the surface and bottom layers of the water body.The model simulation results validate the formulae for the stratified stability discriminant during spring tides.

We has developed a novel dynamic coherent eddy model,in which the coherent structure-Q criterion introduced by Hunt et al(1988)-is taken into account in the subgrid-scale turbulent viscosity based on the eddy viscosity model.One proposed method is to combine the resolved-scale velocity-gradient tensor in the classical Smagorinsky model with Q criterion weighted.A kind of dynamic procedure which was averaged in a general process at temporal direction based on the autocorrelations of the characteristic resolved scales of turbulence was taken for the coefficient of subgrid model.The model is implemented in the σ-coordinate and the filtered Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the operator splitting method.The validation was explored to 2-D turbulent slot jet both in ambient environment and in regular waves.The prediction of the present model was compared with the experiment data,including the averaged velocity profiles,the velocity fluctuations and the Reynolds stress.The model performance is shown to be satisfactory.

CORC(conductor on round core)超导电缆是一种基于REBCO(rare-earth barium copper oxide)导体的高温超导电缆,已经成为迄今为止最灵活的高温超导(HTS)导体之一.然而,由于超导REBCO陶瓷材料的脆性,临界电流表现出敏感的应变依赖性,即临界电流与应变密切相关.该材料的应变一旦超过临界值,就会引发明显的衰减.除此之外,由于带材缠绕和电缆绞合后的复杂变形,切实存在一个实际性的挑战,即如何准确预测电缆超导带材在各种变形下的轴向应变.在本文中,我们建立了分析模型,可以用来准确计算CORC电缆的超导带材在电缆内芯上缠绕、电缆弯曲和扭曲变形等实际条件下的轴向应变.并且通过比较分析结果与有限元数值结果和实验数据,验证了分析模型,即超导带的临界电流随CORC电缆的核心直径而变化.在轴向应变结果的基础上,进一步确定了临界参数,即超导层的轴向应变恰好达到临界应变时的参数,如临界核心直径、临界弯曲直径和临界绞距等.对CORC电缆中REBCO超导带材的应变分析研究将有助于CORC电缆的加工和进一步设计高水平的超导线圈和磁体.

This paper presents the consolidation analysis of a foundation (Lianyungang City)with sand drain by vacuum priloading, and the calculation of excess pore pressure with anapproximate analytic method and displacement with a numerical technique. This semi-analytical method takes in account the mutual effects of 3-dimensional consolidation, soilvisco-elasticity and sand drain group. The calculation is simple. The results have been checkedfairly well with field measurements.
