A deep neural network based surrogate model for damage identification in full-scale structures with incomplete noisy measurements

The paper introduces a novel approach for detecting structural damage in full-scale structures using surrogate models generated from incomplete modal data and deep neural networks(DNNs).A significant challenge in this field is the limited availability of measurement data for full-scale structures,which is addressed in this paper by generating data sets using a reduced finite element(FE)model constructed by SAP2000 software and the MATLAB programming *** surrogate models are trained using response data obtained from the monitored structure through a limited number of measurement *** proposed approach involves training a single surrogate model that can quickly predict the location and severity of damage for all potential *** achieve the most generalized surrogate model,the study explores different types of layers and hyperparameters of the training algorithm and employs state-of-the-art techniques to avoid overfitting and to accelerate the training *** approach’s effectiveness,efficiency,and applicability are demonstrated by two numerical *** study also verifies the robustness of the proposed approach on data sets with sparse and noisy measured ***,the proposed approach is a promising alternative to traditional approaches that rely on FE model updating and optimization algorithms,which can be computationally *** approach also shows potential for broader applications in structural damage detection.

Relationship between land use and user’s behavior along the street:A case study of Da Nang city,Viet Nam

Human activities on street spaces are affected by both physical and non-physical settings on *** two aspects are primarily impacted by land use which results in the uneven distribution of different activities on *** research investigates land use patterns and their characteristics in association to user’s *** using mixed qualitative and quantitative research methods,e.g.,place-centered behavioral map,observation,visual encounter surveys,machine learning,the relationship between user’s behavior and land use characteristics along the street is *** user behaviors along both types of streets were classified into six main categories,with 26 *** observation results show that the residential use of land along the street was transformed into the commercial use for various types of shophouses based on the resident’s *** is a great correlation between land use and user’s *** findings give support to authorities to manage urban streets and develop a sustainable policy for improving street ***,this research contributes useful information to urban designers and planners in creating a successful street space that is appropriate for the Vietnam Community.

Although there has been a slight decrease in road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries in recent years, HCMC (ho chi minh city) will continue to encounter challenges in mitigating and preventing road crashes. This study analyzes road crash data from the past five years, obtained from the Road-Railway Police Bureau (PC08) and TSB (Traffic Safety Board) in HCMC. This analysis gives us valuable insights into road crash patterns, characteristics, and underlying causes. This comprehensive understanding serves as a scientific foundation for developing cohesive strategies and implementing targeted solutions to address road traffic safety issues more effectively in the future.

Investigation of crack segmentation and fast evaluation of crack propagation, based on deep learning

Identifying crack and predicting crack propagation are critical processes for the risk assessment of engineering *** traditional approaches to crack modeling are faced with issues of high computational costs and excessive computing *** address this issue,we explore the potential of deep learning(DL)to increase the efficiency of crack detection and forecasting crack ***,there is no single algorithm that can fit all data sets well or can apply in all cases since specific tasks *** the paper,we present DL models for identifying cracks,especially on concrete surface images,and for predicting crack ***,SegNet and U-Net networks are used to identify concrete *** gradient descent(SGD)and adaptive moment estimation(Adam)algorithms are applied to minimize loss function during ***,time series algorithms including gated recurrent unit(GRU)and long short-term memory(LSTM)are used to predict crack *** experimental findings indicate that the U-Net is more robust and efficient than the SegNet for identifying crack segmentation and achieves the most outstanding *** evaluation of crack propagation,GRU and LSTM are used as DL models and results show good agreement with the experimental data.

Optimizing Flow Path Design(FPD)is a popular research area in transportation system design,but its application to Overhead transportation Systems(OTSs)has been *** study focuses on optimizing a double-spine flow path design for OTSs with 10 stations by minimizing the total travel distance for both loaded and empty *** employ transportation methods,specifically the North-West Corner and Stepping-Stone methods,to determine empty vehicle travel ***,the Tabu Search(TS)algorithm is applied to branch the 10 stations into two main layout *** results obtained from our proposed method demonstrate a reduction in the objective function value compared to the initial feasible ***,we explore howchanges in the parameters of the TS algorithm affect the optimal *** validate the feasibility of our approach by comparing it with relevant literature and conducting additional tests on layouts with 20 and 30 stations.

BACKGROUND Sessile serrated lesions(SSLs)are considered precancerous colorectal lesions that should be detected and removed to prevent colorectal *** studies in Vietnam mainly investigated the adenoma pathway,with limited data on the serrated *** To evaluate the prevalence,risk factors,and BRAF mutations of SSLs in the Vietnamese *** This is a cross-sectional study conducted on patients with lower gastrointestinal symptoms who underwent colonoscopy at a tertiary hospital in *** were diagnosed on histopathology according to the 2019 World Health Organi-zation *** mutation analysis was performed using the Sanger DNA sequencing *** multivariate logistic regression model was used to determine SSL-associated *** There were 2489 patients,with a mean age of 52.1±13.1 and a female-to-male ratio of 1:*** prevalence of SSLs was 4.2%[95%confidence interval(CI):3.5-5.1].In the multivariate analysis,factors significantly associated with SSLs were age≥40[odds ratio(OR):3.303;95%CI:1.607-6.790],male sex(OR:2.032;95%CI:1.204-3.429),diabetes mellitus(OR:2.721;95%CI:1.551-4.772),and hypertension(OR:1.650,95%CI:1.045-2.605).The rate of BRAF mutations in SSLs was 35.5%.CONCLUSION The prevalence of SSLs was 4.2%.BRAF mutations were present in one-third of *** risk factors for SSLs included age≥40,male sex,diabetes mellitus,and hypertension.
