The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need to strengthen public health *** response,the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction(UNDRR) Public Health System Resilience Scorecard(Scorecard) was applied in workshops across multiple *** aim of our research was to explore the workshop findings to develop priority strategies for strengthening public health system *** conducted a workshop from 14 to 16 March 2023,at the UNDRR Global Education and Training Institute in Incheon,Republic of Korea.A sequential modified Delphi method was utilized to develop a set of prioritized resilience *** were drawn from 70 strategies identified from 13 distinct workshops in eight *** two surveys,23 strategies were *** received ratings of "High" or Very High" from89% of *** related to the inclusion of public health risks in emergency plans,integrating multidisciplinary teams into public health,enabling local transport mechanisms,and improving the ability to manage an influx of *** Scorecard provides an adaptable framework to identify and prioritize strategies for strengthening public health system *** leveraging this methodology,our study demonstrated how resilience strategies could inform disaster risk reduction funding,policies,and actions.

Hepatocellular carcinoma and focal nodular hyperplasia of the liver in a glycogen storage disease patient

Glycogen storage disease type Ia (GSD-Ia; also called von Gierke disease) is an autosomal recessive disorder of carbohydrate metabolism caused by glucose-6-phosphatase deficiency. There have been many reports describing hepatic tumors in GSD patients; however, most of these reports were of hepatocellular adenomas, whereas there are only few reports describing focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) or hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We report a case with GSD-Ia who had undergone a partial resection of the liver for FNH at 18 years of age and in whom moderately differentiated HCC had developed. Preoperative imaging studies, including ultrasonography, dynamic computer tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging, revealed benign and malignant features. In particular, fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET)/CT revealed the atypical findings that FDG accumulated at high levels in the non-tumorous hepatic parenchyma and low levels in the tumor. Right hemihepatectomy was performed. During the perioperative period, high-dose glucose and sodium bicarbonate were administered to control metabolic acidosis. He had multiple recurrences of HCC at 10 mo after surgery and was followed-up with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization. The tumor was already highly advanced when it was found by chance; therefore, a careful follow-up should be mandatory for GSD-I patients as they are at a high risk for HCC, similar to hepatitis patients.

Characterization of Kiwifruit Xyloglucan

Structural characteristics of xyloglucan are constant in the pericarp cell walls of kiwifruit （Actinidia deliciosa） throughout fruit enlargement and maturation. Most of the xyioglucan （XG） persists in the cell walls of ripe kiwifruit. XG from the pericarp tissues of 36-h ethylene-treated kiwifruit was extracted as hemicellulose Ⅱ （HC-Ⅱ） with 4.28 M KOH containing 0.02% NaBH4, and purified using iodine precipitation and subsequent anion-exchange chromatography. This purifying protocol increased XG purity from 50 mol% in HC-Ⅱ fraction to 62 mol% in the purified XG powder. The molar ratio of glucose： xylose： galactose： fucose in the purified XG was 10： 6.9： 2.1： 0.3. Gel permeation chromatography indicated that purified XG had an average molecular-mass of 161 KDa, a value that exceeds the 95 KDa Mr determined for total polymeric sugars. Sugar linkage analysis confirmed the lack of fucose in the kiwifruit XG, but a small amount of arabinoxylan and low Mr glucomannan remained associated with this fraction.

Topology optimization of supporting structure for seismic response reduction of an arch

A flexible supporting structure that reduces seismic response of an arch is proposed. Topology and cross-sectional areas of the supporting structure modeled as a truss structure are optimized through two steps of static and dynamic optimization problems. In the first step, a flexible supporting structure that has diagonal displacement at the top under horizontal load is obtained by solving static optimization problems. Then, in the second step, the cross-sectional area of the flexible member is optimized to minimize the seismic response acceleration of the arch evaluated by the complete quadratic combination(CQC) method. Time-history seismic response analysis is carried out to show that the response in the normal direction of the roof successfully decreases due to flexibility of the supporting structure; in addition, installing passive energy dissipation devices into the flexible supporting structure is very effective in reducing the tangential response of the arch.

The impact of urban planning on land use and land cover in Pudong of Shanghai, China

Functional zones in cities constitute the most conspicuous components of newly developed urban areas, and have been a hot spot for domestic and foreign investors in China, which not only show the expanse of urban space accompanied by the shifts both in landscape (from rural to urban) and land use(from less extensive to extensive), but also display the transformation of regional ecological functions. By using the theories and methods of landscape ecology, the structure of landscapes and landscape ecological planning can be analyzed and evaluated for studying the urban functional zones' layout. In 1990, the Central Government of China declared to develop and open up Pudong New Area so as to promote economic development in Shanghai. Benefited from the advantages of Shanghai's location and economy, the government of Pudong New Area has successively built up 7 different functional zones over the past decade according to their functions and strategic goals. Based on the multi-spectral satellite imageries taken in 1990, 1997 and 2000, a landscape ecology analysis was carried out for Pudong New Area of Shanghai, supported by GIS technology. Green space (including croplands) and built-up areas are the major factors considered in developing urban landscape. This paper was mainly concerned with the different spatial patterns and dynamics of green space, built-up areas and new buildings in different functional zones, as influenced by different functional layouts and development strategies. The rapid urbanization in Pudong New Area resulted in a more homogeneous landscape. Agricultural landscape and suburban landscape were gradually replaced by urban landscape as the degree of urbanization increased. As a consequence of urbanization in Pudong, not only built-up patches, but also newly-built patches and green patches merged into one large patch, which should be attributed to the construction policy of extensive green space as the urban development process in Pudong New Area. Preparation of Conducting Poly N-methylaniline Microsphere and Its Antibacterial Performance to Sulfate Reducing Bacteria

Microspheres of conducting polymers poly N-methylaniline （PNMA） were successfully synthesized through oxidation of N-methylaniline without any template. The average diameter of the microspheres with a smooth surface was about 0.40 μm when 0.2 M N-methylanUine was oxidized with 0.2 M ammonium persulfate in 0.2 M of HClO4 solution. The size of microspheres can be controlled by changing reaction time and temperature. The acid concentration was critical for the formation of microspheres with smooth surfaces. The excellent antibacterial performance of PNMA in novolac epoxy coating to sulfate reducing bacteria was demonstrated. Moreover, in API media, PNMA inhibited growth of SRB and then reduced the corrosion rate of carbon steel remarkably.

Two-step Design of Critical Control Systems Using Disturbance Cancellation Integral Controllers

An efficient critical control system design is proposed in this paper. The key idea is to decompose the design problem into two simpler design steps by the technique used in the classical loop transfer recovery method （LTR）. The disturbance cancellation integral controller is used as a basic controller. Since the standard loop transfer recovery method cannot be applied to the disturbance cancellation controller, the nonstandard version recently found is used for the decomposition. Exogenous inputs with constraints both on the amplitude and rate of change are considered. The majorant approach is taken to obtain the analytical sufficient matching conditions. A numerical design example is presented to illustrate the effiectiveness of the proposed design.

Integrated biological–physical process for biogas purification effluent treatment

Biogas purification via water scrubbing produces effluent containing dissolved CH4, H2S,and CO2, which should be removed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase its potential for water regeneration. In this study, a reactor built with air supplies at the top and bottom was utilized for the treatment of biogas purification effluent through biological oxidation and physical stripping processes. Up to 98% of CH4 was removed through biological treatment at a hydraulic retention time of 2 hr and an upper airflow rate of 2.02 L/day. Additionally, a minimum CH4 concentration of 0.04% with no trace of H2S gas was detected in the off gas. Meanwhile, a white precipitate was captured on the carrier showing the formation of sulfur. According to the developed mathematical model, an upper airflow rate of greater than 2.02 L/day showed a small deterioration in CH4 removal performance after reaching the maximum value, whereas a 50 L/day bottom airflow rate was required to strip the CO2 efficiently and raise the effluent p H from 5.64 to 7.3. Microbiological analysis confirmed the presence of type 1 methanotroph communities dominated by Methylobacter and Methylocaldum. However, bacterial communities promoting sulfide oxidation were dominated by Hyphomicrobium.

Comparison between experimental and analytical results for seesaw energy dissipation systems using fluid viscous dampers

This paper presents results of experimental and numerical investigations of a seesaw energy dissipation system （SEDS） using fluid viscous dampers （FVDs）. To confirm the characteristics of the FVDs used in the tests, harmonic dynamic loading tests were conducted in advance of the flee vibration tests and the shaking table tests. Shaking table tests were conducted to demonstrate the damping capacity of the SEDS under random excitations such as seismic waves, and the results showed SEDSs have sufficient damping capacity for reducing the seismic response of flames. Free vibration tests were conducted to confirm the reliability of simplified analysis. Time history response analyses were also conducted and the results are in close agreement with shaking table test results.

Insight into relationship between composition,thickness and electrochemistry behavior of oxide film formed on TA15under different potentials in 0.5 mol·L^(-1)H_(2)SO_(4)

The oxide film formed on TA15 alloy in0.5 mol·L^(-1)H_(2)SO_(4)at different applied potentials is investigated by evaluating the film formation current density,film thickness,surface film composition,valence state,and the electrochemical *** relative quantitative spectral analysis revealed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and X-ray absorption spectra(XAS)shows that the increasing applied potential promotes the formation of thick and high-valence state *** contrasting with XAS of the reference titanium oxides,it is found that TiO_(2)within the oxide film changes from anatase type to rutile type with the potential increases to 2.00 *** oxide film formed at passive region has better protection performance,and with the increase of applied potential,the corrosion resistance of passive film increases,whereas the ND(donor density)values obtained from the Mott-Schottky(MS)results decrease with the increasing applied potential,indicating a better uniformity and protective effect of the oxide *** on above facts,the model of the oxide films formed on TA15 at different applied potentials in passive region and dissolve region is ***,the existence forms of all the TA15alloying elements under the most corrosion resistant condition are confirmed.
