Education Programs for Invasive Procedures Involving Nurses: A Scoping Review

Background: Implementing invasive procedures is an important part of patient management by clinical nurses;however, there are gaps between nurses’ actual knowledge and skills and expected professional care capacity. Purpose: This scoping review aimed to map the existing literature related to recent institution-provided educational programs for invasive procedures involving clinical nurses. This study seeks to understand the contents of educational programs and the methods for assessing educational effects. Methods: This scoping review was completed using the following four databases: PubMed (MEDLINE), Embase, Cochrane Library, and Emcare for the period 2000-2022. We included studies that used all forms of educational approaches (e.g., didactic lectures, hands-on training, or on-the-job training). This scoping review considered peer-reviewed publications published in English using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed approaches. A total of 83 studies underwent in the final analysis. Results and Conclusion: A combination of didactic lectures and hands-on training was provided as an educational program in most studies. Contrary to our prediction, educational interventions with advanced technologies such as VR are extremely rare, suggesting that the effectiveness of advanced technologies in learning invasive procedures should be examined to facilitate and retain educational effects more efficiently in future studies. Regarding the assessment of educational effects, nurses’ cognitive (i.e., theoretical knowledge about procedures), psychomotor (i.e., implementing procedures), and psychological aspects (e.g., confidence and self-efficacy in procedures) were evaluated using questionnaires and observational methods. While most studies used a one-group pretest-posttest design, the ratio of randomized controlled trials (RCT) was relatively low. Thus, an RCT design should be introduced in future studies to test the validity of the developed educational program more accurately.

Purpose: To identify factors related to changes in foot status and foot care in patients with diabetes mellitus participating in an exercise program. Methods: The subjects were 21 patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (8 males, 13 females). The mean age of the patients was 62.3 ± 12.5 years old. Foot status, physical measurements and daily activities were monitored and several surveys were performed. Results: Changes in foot status were significantly positively correlated with walking at normal speed (r = 0.54, p < 0.05) and fast speed (r = 0.68, p p < 0.05). Foot care showed a significant negative correlation with burden of diet therapy (r = -0.48, p < 0.05) and a significant positive correlation with the self-efficacy of diet therapy (r = 0.65, p < 0.01). Conclusions: Subjects who were fast walkers showed greater changes in foot status. Poor foot care behavior is also related to greater changes in foot status. Regular interventions for foot care are important to improve self-care behavior during an exercise program.

Activity and bioavailability of tepotinib for leptomeningeal metastasis of NSCLC with MET exon 14 skipping mutation

Tepotinib is a key drug for cancer patients with mesenchymal-epithelial transition receptor tyrosine kinase proto-oncogene(MET)exon 14 skipping ***,its bioavailability in the cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)in humans has not been fully ***,information about the efficacy of tepotinib in patients with leptomeningeal metastasis is ***,we present the case of a 56-year-old man who was diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma with MET exon 14 skipping *** was urgently hospitalized due to leptomeningeal *** administered tepotinib 500 mg/day as the second-line therapy and observed improvement in leptomeningeal metastasis and performance *** tepotinib concentrations reached 1,648 ng/mL in the plasma and 30.6 ng/mL in the CSF,with a penetration rate(CSF/plasma)of 1.83%.These demonstrate tepotinib could achieve a high rate of central nervous system transition and could be effective against leptomeningeal metastasis.

Development of catholytes with long-cycle lifespan,high interfacial stability,and fast electrochemical kinetics is crucial for the comprehensive deployment of high-energy density lithium metal batteries(LMBs)with *** this study,a lithiated 2-mercaptopyridine(2-MP-Li)organosulfide was synthesized and used as the soluble catholyte for the first *** the routine working mode,the LMB using this 2-MP-Li catholyte possessed high capacity retention of 55.4%with a Coulombic efficiency(CE)of near 100%after 2,000 *** a cell system was fully filled with 2-MP-Li catholyte,it yielded a double capacity with 15%improvement in the capacity retention,corresponding to 0.0182%capacity decay per cycle,as well as excellent rate performance even at 6 mA·cm^(−2).These superior achievements resulted from the enhanced interfacial stability of Li anode induced by the salt-type 2-MP-Li molecule and the avoiding of using neutral catholyte as the initial active material,thereby mitigating the side reactions originating from the polysulfide shuttle ***,density functional theory(DFT)calculation and kinetics investigations proved the pseudocapacitive characteristic and faster ion diffusion coefficient with this ***,the fabricated energy storage device showed excellent performance but with low economic cost and easy *** a LMB with an alterable amount of capacity has a high potential to be applied in flow-cell type batteries for large-scale grid energy storage in the future.

The in vivo assembly of ribosomal subunits is a highly complex process, with a tight coordination between protein assembly and rRNA maturation events, such as folding and processing of rRNA precursors, as well as modifications of selected bases. In the cell, a large number of factors are required to ensure the efficiency and fidelity of subunit production. Here we characterize the immature 30S subunits accumulated in a factor-null Escherichia coil strain （ArsgAArbfA）. The immature 30S subunits isolated with varying salt concentrations in the buffer system show interesting differences on both protein composition and structure. Specifically, inter- mediates derived under the two contrasting salt condi- tions （high and low） likely reflect two distinctive assembly stages, the relatively early and late stages of the 3＇ domain assembly, respectively. Detailed structural analysis demonstrates a mechanistic coupling between the maturation of the 5＇ end of the 17S rRNA and the assembly of the 30S head domain, and attributes a unique role of S5 in coordinating these two events. Furthermore, our structural results likely reveal thelocation of the unprocessed terminal sequences of the 17S rRNA, and suggest that the maturation events of the 17S rRNA could be employed as quality control mech- anisms on subunit production and protein translation.
