This study presents a calibration process of three-dimensional particle flow code(PFC3D)simulation of intact and fissured granite ***,laboratory stressestrain response from triaxial testing of intact and fissured granite samples is ***,PFC3D is introduced,with focus on the bonded particle models(BPM).After that,we present previous studies where intact rock is simulated by means of flatjoint approaches,and how improved accuracy was gained with the help of parametric ***,models of the pre-fissured rock specimens were generated,including modeled fissures in the form of“smooth joint”type ***,triaxial testing simulations of 1 t 2 and 2 t 3 jointed rock specimens were *** show that both elastic behavior and the peak strength levels are closely matched,without any additional fine tuning of micro-mechanical *** the postfailure behavior,models reproduce the trends of decreasing dilation with increasing confinement and ***,the dilation values simulated are larger than those observed in *** is attributed to the difficulty in modeling some phenomena of fissured rock behaviors,such as rock piece corner crushing with dust production and interactions between newly formed shear bands or axial splitting cracks with pre-existing joints.

Hydrocarbon microseepage can result in related near-surface mineral *** this study,we evaluated the potential of detecting these alterations with field measured and satellite acquired hyperspectral *** soil samples and reflectance spectra were collected in the Xifeng Oilfield,a loess covered *** samples were analyzed in the laboratory for calcite,dolomite,kaolinite,illite,and mixedlayer illite/smectite content,and we processed reflectance spectra for continuum removal to derive clay and carbonate mineral absorption depth(H).High correlation between absorption depth and mineral content was shown for clay and mineral carbonate with field measured *** on the result for the field spectra,we proposed and tested a fast index based on the absorption depth of clay and carbonate minerals with a hyperspectral image of the *** detected hydrocarbon microseepage anomalies matched well with those shown in the geological map.

Type division and controlling factor analysis of 3rd-order sequence are of practical significance to tec-tonic analysis, sedimentary environment identification, and other geological researches. Based on the comprehensive analysis of carbon and oxygen isotope trends, paleobathymetry and spectral-frequency of representative well logs, 3rd-order sequences can be divided into 3 types：（a） global sea level （GSL） sequence mainly controlled by GSL change;（b） tectonic sequence mainly controlled by regional tectonic activity;and （c） composite sequence jointly controlled by GSL change and regional tectonic activity. This study aims to identify the controlling factors of 3rd-order sequences and to illustrate a new method for classification of 3rd-order sequences of the middle Permian strata in the Sichuan Basin, China. The middle Permian strata in the Sichuan Basin consist of 3 basin-contrastive 3rd-order sequences, i.e., PSQ1, PSQ2 and PSQ3. Of these, PSQ1 is a GSL sequence while PSQ2 and PSQ3 are composite sequences. The results suggest that the depositional environment was stable during the deposition of PSQ1, but was activated by tectonic activity during the deposition of the middle Permian Maokou Formation.

The fossil hamster(an isolated m1) from the early Early Pleistocene Houhecun fauna found in Dali, Weinan, Shaanxi, China, originally identified as Kowalskia dalinica, is reexamined. Its unique characters, including a high crown, very small degree of division of the anteroconid and relatively large size, is taken as evidence of its attribution to the genus Sinocricetus, instead of Kowalskia(junior synonym of Neocricetodon) suggested by the original author. Therefore, the specific name of the species established based on this m1 should be changed to S. dalinicus(Wang, 1988). S. dalinicus probably has a relatively close affinity with S. major Li, 2010, but there are still some obvious differences of characters between them. The discovery of S. dalinicus in the Houhecun fauna confirms that the genus indeed survived into the Pleistocene. A broken hamster mandible, which was found in Weinan, Shaanxi, China and belongs to the late Pliocene Youhe fauna, is also described here and identified as Tscherskia sp.. This specimen represents the earliest Tscherskia in Asia so far, but fails to refute the hypothesis that the genus originated in Europe during the early Pliocene.

^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar Fast Neutron Activation Ages of Quartz from the Jinman Vein Copper Deposit in Western Yunnan and Their Significance

Quartz samples collected from the Jinman vein copper deposit in the Lanping Basin of western Yunnan were determined by \{\}\+\{40\}Ar/\{\}\+\{39\}Ar fast neutron activation techniques, and the spectra are characterized as being saddle\|shaped. The samples yielded a plateau age of \{58.05\}±\{0.54\} Ma, a minimum appearance age of \{56.76\}±\{0.81\} Ma and an isochron age of \{54.30\}±\{0.15\} Ma, the three ages being close to each other, indicating that the ages of the quartz samples so far determined are true and reliable. The plateau age represents the time of formation of Cu\|bearing quartz veins, which is corresponding to Early himalayan. This age is also consistent with the time at which a tectonically thermal event (60 Ma) took place within the Lanping Basin, Yunnan Province. In consideration of the fact that copper ore and other ore types in the vast area of western Yunnan are concentrated mainly in the Early himalayan strata, the authors believe that there must have existed some indispensable key factors leading to metallogenesis on a large scale during the Early himalayan period in western Yunnan and also constraining in union the formation of ore deposits there.

The recently discovered definite giant fleas from the Middle Jurassic Daohugou fauna and the Early Cretaceous Jehol fauna of northeastern China represent significant evidence for understanding ectoparasitism in the Mesozoic as well as the evolution of these giant blood feeders with their putative hosts (i.e. hairy or feathered vertebrates). On the basis of seven well-preserved specimens from Daohugou and Huangbanjigou we analyse the systematic classification of these primitive fleas, establishing two new genera and three new species as Pseudopulex wangi sp. nov., Hadropsylla sinica gen. et sp. nov., and Tyrannopsylla beipiaoensis gen. et sp. nov. All of them are assigned to the extinct siphonapteran family Pseudopulicidae, while the Early Cretaceous genus Tarwinia is transferred to Tarwiniidae fam. nov. The basal morphological disparities of Siphonaptera in the Mesozoic are evidenced by the occurrence of at least three distinct groups (pseudopulicids, tarwiniids, and saurophthirids). These disparate morphologies likely indicate adaptations to different hosts.

The paper focuses on geological and geochemical evidence of thermal brine genesis of Pb Zn deposits in Wuqia district, Xinjiang. The results suggest that the known Pb Zn deposits, such as Wulagen, are thermal brine genesis, which is supported by the features of tectonic setting, magma and regional metamorphism, and the characteristics of trace element distribution in strata and redistribution in the ore forming process, the REE patterns and their main parameters of main type ores, the composition features and the source indicators of Pb, S isotopes. Ore forming conditions of superlarge Pb Zn deposits studies show that there exists tectonic and sources setting of Jinding type superlarge Pb Zn deposits in this area. Five Pb Zn ore belts and central uplift belts discovered lately have not only confirmed that the genesis of Wulagen Pb Zn deposits is thermal genesis, but also further proved that there exists tectonic and source setting of Jinding type superlarge Pb Zn deposit in the study area. Mineral deposit model was described and prospecting potentiality of superlarge Pb Zn deposit and their significance were discussed.
