Mineralogy and geochemistry of trachytic rocks from the Lichi Volcanics, Eastern Himalaya: insights into the Kerguelen mantle plume activity in the Eastern himalayan Region

The Lichi volcanics are a suite of mafic-intermediate-felsic rocks and are considered coeval with the Abor volcanics(~132 Ma) of the Siang window in the Eastern Himalaya. Here, we present the first report of trachytic rocks from the Lichi volcanics, which are exposed in the Ranga valley, along the Kimin-Yazali road section in the Eastern himalayan Region, Northeast India. The trachytes occur in close association with sandstones of the Gondwana Group of rocks and are characterised based on field, petrographical, and geochemical *** fine-grained trachytes are composed of alkali feldspar, biotite, plagioclase, sodic-amphibole, apatite, illmenite, and titanite. The REE profiles of the evolved trachytic rocks(higher SiO_(2)content) display fractionated trends. The fractionation of accessory mineral phases, like apatite and titanite, was possibly responsible for the strongly fractionated REE patterns of the evolved *** trachytic rocks demonstrate high apatite saturation temperatures of 988 ± 14 ℃(1σ, n = 8). The Aluminium Saturation Index(< 1.1) and binary discrimination diagrams of these peralkaline trachytes define their affinity with A-type granitoids. Elemental ratios like Y/Nb, Nb/U,and Ce/Pb signify that the Lichi trachytes are differentiated products of mantle-derived ocean island basalts. Trace elemental discrimination diagrams Th/Yb versus Nb/Yb, Y versus Nb, and Y + Nb versus Rb reflect a within-plate tectonic regime for the trachytes. From the results presented in this work, we infer that the development of rifting events during the breakup of eastern Gondwana due to the onset of Kerguelen plume activity further led to underplating of basic magma in lower crustal levels. The area of the present investigation’s expanse constitutes the southernmost extent of the southeast Kumaun Himalaya and western Nepal *** approaches have been employed to understand the landforms associated with tectonic deformation,through detailed field investigation supplemented by the geodetic,chronological,and morphometric *** morphogenic expressions of the Main Boundary Thrust(MBT)are reflected in the form of~25 km long E-W trending north dipping fault *** deformation along the strike length of the himalayan Frontal Thrust(HFT)is noticed in the form of uplifted and incised fill terraces,and strath *** deformation within the fluvial sequences in the study area can be visualized in the form of sheared boulders and pebbles,tilted and faulted terrace ***,the chronological data of fluvial landforms in the study area suggests two major phases of tectonic deformations that have occurred around 58.7±10.8 ka and 3.88±0.4 *** chronology of late-Quaternary landforms advocates that the initial stage of aggradations in the himalayan foothills commenced around 75.1±0.58 *** aggradational landforms resulted from the diverse depositional regime as evident from the nature of the sediment sequences from clasts dominated to thick mud *** rate of deformation in the southeastern Kumaun and western Nepal Himalaya is±7 mm/yr,as per the data obtained from the Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(PSInSAR).The landform deformation pattern,phase of incision and aggradation,frequent occurrence of landslides,and recent past earthquake activity within the wide zone of the HFT,the MBT,and Ramgarh Thrust suggests that the southernmost front of the Kumaun Himalaya is active and has potential for future *** foothill zone of himalayan towns are actively growing in terms of population and infrastructural ***,such intradisciplinary studies for tectonically active r

Mineralogy and whole-rock geochemistry of the Oligocene Barail Group of rocks of Belt of Schuppen, Northeast India: Implications for tectono-provenance and paleo-weathering

The petrographic and geochemical attributes of the Oligocene Barail Group of rocks are used to decipher the likely source area(s) or tectonic domains, as this sequence of rocks was deposited in a foreland basin governed by orogenic domain, namely the North-east Arunachal *** river system that gave rise to the Brahmaputra River(Yarlung-Tsangpo), which flowed through several tectonic domains of the himalayan ranges, primarily from BomiChayu, Gangadese Granitoid, Higher himalayan Leucogranites, and Namche Barwa into the proto Bengal Basin now a part of Assam Arakan Basin and Naga Schuppen Belt, was the main source of the sandstone formation of the Barail Group. The purpose of sandstone petrography, which combines modal analysis with XRF (Major Oxides) and HR-ICPMS (Trace&Rare Earth Elements) research, is to identify the type of source rock(s), their weathering pattern, and its paleo-environmental circumstances. These sandstones were formed from recycled orogen and include lithic and sublithic arenite variants with advanced texture and chemical maturity. The sediments were felsic (Th/Co:1.38, Cr/Th:9.78,La/Lu:11.58, Th/Sc:0.99, Eu/Eu*:0.66, La/Sc:3.05, La/Co:4.18), with contributions from intermediate source rocks and low-rank metamorphics deposited in an active continental margin to a continental island arc setting. Climatic conditions impacted the sediments of Barails, characterised by being warm and semi-humid to humid which resulted in moderate to a high degree of chemical weathering, as shown by weathering indices like CIA (79.14), PIA (85.47), CIW(86.9), WIP (32.50), ICV (0.71), and Th/U (6.03), which were further additionally supported by C-Value (1.01), PF(1.20), Sr/Cu (2.04), and Rb/Sr (0.97).

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Zhou et *** study reveals the connection between ferroptosis and pyroptosis and the effect of silent information regulator sirtuin 1(SIRT1)activation in acute liver failure(ALF).ALF is characterized by a sudden and severe liver injury resulting in significant hepatocyte damage,often posing a high risk of *** predominant form of hepatic cell death in ALF involves apoptosis,ferroptosis,autophagy,pyroptosis,and *** peroxidase 4(GPX4)inhibition sensitizes the cell to ferroptosis and triggers cell death,while Gasdermin D(GSDMD)is a mediator of *** study showed that ferroptosis and pyroptosis in ALF are regulated by blocking the p53/GPX4/GSDMD pathway,bridging the gap between the two *** inhibition of p53 elevates the levels of GPX4,reducing the levels of inflammatory and liver injury markers,ferroptotic events,and GSDMDN protein *** p53 expression and increased GPX4 on deletion of GSDMD indicated ferroptosis and pyroptosis ***1 is a NAD-dependent deacetylase,and its activation attenuates liver injury and inflammation,accompanied by reduced ferroptosis and pyroptosis-related proteins in ***1 activation also inhibits the p53/GPX4/GSDMD axis by inducing p53 acetylation,attenuating LPS/D-GalN-induced ALF.

A novel design of Return Flow Solar Air Heater(RFSAH)with different arrangements of baffles especially V-Type Artificial roughness is simulated and numerically analyzed with energy balance *** enhance the effectiveness of baffles,numerous studies have been *** performance of the RFSAH is studied in terms of thermal efficiency,thermo-hydraulic efficiency,and optimization of baffle *** Thermal efficiency and thermo-hydraulic efficiency are found in RFSAH with baffle on both sides of the absorber plate and mass flow rate above 0.2kg/*** analysis of the influencing parameters is carried out and reported the best performance of the system on selective geometrical parameters(ψ=0.7,β=20%,e/H=1,p/e=0.8,α=60°).The results obtained from the present model are validated with the published experimental results and have been found in quite reasonable agreement with an average error of 16.45%.Thermal and Thermohydraulic efficiency of RFSAH with a baffle on both sides of the absorber plate is maximum among baffles below,above,and on both sides of the absorber *** is observed that the thermal efficiency of RFSAH is greater than *** proposed optimum baffles roughness is suggested to increase the air upholding time period for more efficient output.

Sedimentological evidence of climate-tectonic interaction in the upper Satluj catchment of NW Himalaya

Quaternary valley fill deposits in the Upper Satluj Valley of NW Himalaya act as archives of changing climate-tectonic dynamics in a *** landforms help in decoding the relationship between climate and *** region is traversed by several active faults and thrusts such as the Kaurik-Chango Fault(KCF)and Sangla Detachment(SD),thereby making upper Satluj Valley tectonically *** parameters such as width of valley floor(Vfw),Normalized Steepness Index(KSn)and geomorphological evidences such as the presence of huge strath terraces,narrowing of the river valley and palaeolake deposits point towards the tectonically active nature of the *** arid,high elevation region is also climatically sensitive as it falls in a transient climatic zone which receives rainfall only during abnormal monsoon *** rainfall causes outburst floods,a common phenomenon in the area due to the blocking of headwater in the upper reaches of the Satluj *** a result,the Quaternary sequence is modified from time to *** transition from hypo concentrated deposits to channel deposits and ponding events are prominent in the depositional sequence,resulting from a response to *** studied Quaternary sediments reveal that the Trans-himalayan region of the upper Satluj valley is affected by tectonic-climate variability,making it vulnerable to geohazards.

High resolution sequence stratigraphy of the Mishrif Formation(Cenomanian-Early Turonian)at zubair oilfield(al-rafdhiah dome),southern Iraq

The Mishrif Formation(Cenomanian-E Turonian)is one of the most important geological formations in the Middle East and Iraq because it contains enormous petroleum *** is considered to be the first reservoir in the region,and is still being studied because of its economic *** carbonate of the Mishrif Formation derives from a variety of depositional settings,including mid-ramp,shoal,lagoon,and *** five main microfacies discussed in this paper are wackestone,packstone,grainstone,floatstone,and *** most frequent fossilised components found in the Mishrif Formation are rudists,benthic foraminifera,echinoderms,burrows molluscs,and *** to the microfacies and analysed wireline log data,the sequence stratigraphy of the studied formation is composed of two regression *** parasequences of transgressive-regressive cycles make up the depositional sequence of the Mishrif *** standard depositional environments seem to demonstrate a gradual regression,beginning with a short period of the outer ramp,then a steady period of the mid-ramp,and ending in the intertidal ***,the study recorded two regional maximum flooding surfaces:K-135 and *** former is present in the lowermost part of the formation,while the other lies in the *** study shows a close relationship between facies(environments)and hydrocarbon *** increased accumulation focuses on the lower part of the studied formation,and seems to be lower in the upper part of the formation as a result of changes in the environment of deposition.

Unraveling the hydrothermal history of the Xinshuijing Na-metasomatite uranium deposit in the Longshoushan metallogenic belt， Northwest China by coupled hydrothermal zircon U–Pb and albite Ar–Ar dating

Na-metasomatite uranium deposits are an important type of large-tonnage low-grade uranium deposit. They are characterized by an intimate association between uranium minerals and albite， and by the common development of syn-ore hydrothermal zircons. Similar to other types of uranium deposits， constraining an accurate age of mineralization remains a challenge for the Na-metasomatite type ones. In this study， we present for the first time， an approach that combines age dating results from the syn-ore albites (40Ar-39Ar) and hydrothermal zircons （U-Pb） for a typical Na-metasomatite uranium deposit， the Xinshuijing deposit in the Longshoushan metallogenic belt of northwest China. The hydrothermal zircon U-Pb and albite40Ar-39Ar ages are consistent with each other （378-366 Ma; within error）， but also identical to the previously reported uraninite chemical U-Pb ages （approximately 370 Ma）. The coupled application of hydrothermal zircon U-Pb and albite40Ar-39Ar age dating is thus regarded as a robust approach for constraining the age of mineralization for Na-metasomatite uranium deposits. An age gap of approximately 70 m.y. between uranium mineralization （～ 370 Ma） and host granitoid emplacement （about 440 Ma） suggests no direct genetic linkage between the two. Further exploration in the surrounding metamorphic units is therefore suggested， rather than only focusing on the host granitoids， especially where intensive wallrock alteration and structural features are pervasive. The varied hydrothermal zircon δ18O isotope compositions are attributed to the significant fluid-wallrock interaction during the uranium mineralization， which is consistent with our previous fluid inclusion and geochemical studies. Our study highlights the importance of selecting appropriate isotopic dating methods， which is informed by detailed paragenetic and geochemical analysis of dateable minerals formed before or coeval to the main-stage uranium mineralization.
