This study deals with the valorization of natural residues into activated carbon prepared from waste“Baobab fruit shell”from the Fatick Region,***,after the preparation of the baobab shell,a chemical activation with orthophosphoric acid H3PO4(85%)was performed followed by pyrolysis at 530°*** eliminate possible carbonization residues,the activated carbons were impregnated in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid and/or soda solutions and then washed thoroughly with distilled water to obtain a pH between 6.5 and *** latter were then dried in an oven at 105°C for 24 h.A characterization was carried out to determine the moisture content,the ash content,the iodine and methylene blue indices,the surface functions and the pH at zero charge point(pHpzc).The moisture and ash contents were 1.87%and 0.72%,*** iodine and peroxide indices obtained were 939,09 mg/g and 575.73 mg/g,*** function analysis by Boehm’s method showed that the acidic functions were higher than the basic functions and their pHpzc was lower than *** best efficiency of methylene blue removal was 99.75%and was obtained with a mass of 0.150 g of activated carbon,pH equal to 10,an initial concentration of methylene blue of 200 mg/L and a contact time of 35 min.

This article presents the direct torque control (DTC) strategy for the doubly fed induction motor (DFIM) connected to two three-level voltage source inverters (3LVSIs) with neutral point clamped (NPC) structure. This control method allows to reduce the torque and flux ripples as well as to optimize the total harmonic distortion (THD) of motor currents. The use of 3LVSI increases the number of generated voltage, which allows improving the quality of its waveform and thus improves the DTC strategy. The system modeling and control are implemented in Matlab/Simulink environment. The analysis of simulation results shows the better performances of this control, especially in terms of torque and flux behavior, compared to conventional DTC.

Low-voltage ride-through capability improvement of Type-3 wind turbine through active disturbance rejection feedback control-based dynamic voltage restorer

Disconnections due to voltage drops in the grid cannot be permitted if wind turbines(WTs)contribute significantly to electricity pro-duction,as this increases the risk of production loss and destabilizes the *** mitigate the negative effects of these occurrences,WTs must be able to ride through the low-voltage conditions and inject reactive current to provide dynamic voltage *** paper investigates the low-voltage ride-through(LVRT)capability enhancement of a Type-3 WT utilizing a dynamic voltage restorer(DVR).During the grid voltage drop,the DVR quickly injects a compensating voltage to keep the stator voltage *** paper proposes an active disturbance rejection control(ADRC)scheme to control the rotor-side,grid-side and DVR-side converters in a wind–DVR integrated *** performance of the Type-3 WT with DVR topology is evaluated under various test conditions using MATLAB®/Simulink®.These simulation results are also compared with the experimental results for the LVRT capability performed on a WT emulator equipped with a crowbar and direct current(DC)*** simulation results demonstrate a favourable transient and steady-state response of the Type-3 wind turbine quantities defined by the LVRT codes,as well as improved reactive power support under balanced fault *** the most severe voltage drop of 95%,the stator currents,rotor currents and DC bus voltage are 1.25 pu,1.40 pu and 1.09 UDC,respectively,conforming to the values of the LVRT *** controlled by the ADRC technique significantly increases the LVRT capabilities of a Type-3 doubly-fed induction generator-based WT under symmetrical voltage dip *** setting up ADRC controllers might be challenging,the proposed method has been shown to be extremely effective in reducing all kinds of internal and external disturbances.

Conventional direct torque control (DTC) is one of the excellent control strategies available to control the torque of the induction machine (IM). However, the low switching frequency of the DTC causes high ripples in the flux and torque that leads to an acoustic noise which degrades the control performances, especially at low speeds. Many direct torque control techniques were appeared to remedy these problems by focusing specifically on the torque and flux. In this paper, a state of the art review of various modern techniques for improving the performance of DTC control is presented. The objective is to make a critical analysis of these methods in terms of ripples reduction, tracking speed, switching loss, algorithm complexity and parameter sensitivity. Further, it is envisaged that the information presented in this review paper will be a valuable gathering of information for academic and industrial researchers.

Absolute Stability of Nonlinear Systems with Two Additive Time-varying Delay Components

In this paper, we present a new sufficient condition for absolute stability of Lure system with two additive time-varying delay components. This criterion is expressed as a set of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs）, which can be readily tested by using standard numerical software. We use this new criterion to stabilize a class of nonlinear time-delay systems. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the applicability of the results using standard numerical software.

Synthesis of Green Adhesive with Tannin Extracted from Eucalyptus Bark for Potential Use in Wood Composites

Recently,the exploitation of renewable plant resources in the formulation of adhesives is very promising for their availability at low coast,as well as their richness in biomolecules such as *** this way,many research studies tannins extracted from different sources such as mimosa,quebracho,and pine have been the subject of very satisfactory recent *** this paper,a new complete characterization of the tannins extracted from the bark of eucalyptus globulus harvested from two regions in Algeria was *** structural characterization enabled us to confirm the richness in condensed tannins,particularly in procyanidin and prodelphinidin *** most reactive tannins obtained during extraction at 70℃(yield:27.1%)have a Stiasny number of 75.92%.This extract was used for the formulation of adhesives(tannin/hexamine).The thermal characterizaction of the adhesives showed higher stability for the tannin formulation of eucalyptus/hexamine as well as an excellent mechanical performance with a MOE of 2807 MPa at 180℃and shear strength of 689.4 N/mm^(2).

The electronic and magnetic properties of the zinc-blende aluminum nitride doped with V and Cr are studied using the density functional theory(DFT),namely the KKR-CPA-PBE *** Al N is found to be a wide band gap semiconductor,and doping V and Cr single impurities generate ferromagnetic half-metallic ***,the values of the formation energy reveal that these compounds are stable systems for all dopant concentrations.A self-consistent energy minimization scheme determines the ferromagnetic state as the stable magnetic state for V-and Cr-doping Al N.A double exchange mechanism is identified as the mechanism responsible for magnetism in our *** increasing doping impurities,the total magnetic moments increase linearly and the Curie temperature TC,calculated using the mean-field approximation,shows a significant *** present findings reveal Cr-and V-doped zincblende Al N as potential candidates for high Curie temperature ferromagnetic materials.

In this paper,we present a detailed procedure to determine the semiconductor losses for both structures of a shunt STATCOM(Static Compensator),STATCOM based on Current Source Inverter(CSI)and STATCOM based on Voltage Source Inverter(VSI),both used for voltage unbalance *** a first step,we study the VSI-based STATCOM and the CSI-based STATCOM used in high speed railway *** we analyze the design and the sizing of the unbalance compensator in order to obtain an unbalance factor that does not exceed the limits imposed by the standards or by the energy *** that,we compare the performances obtained with both structures VSI-STATCOM and CSI-STATCOM,after calculating the semiconductor power losses in the STATCOM ***,we validate our approach by simulation over real data of unbalance compensation caused by the new high-speed railway in *** use the tools MATLAB/Simulink/Simpowersys for performing our simulations.

Synthesis and application of biocompatible nontoxic nanoparticles for reclamation of Ce^3＋ from synthetic wastewater： Toxicity assessment, kinetic, isotherm and thermodynamic study

The aim of present study is to synthesize forsterite nanoparticles（FRST） for the reclamation of cerium ions（Ce3＋） from synthetic *** aim to synthesize FRST nanoparticles is due to its biocompatible and nontoxic *** formation of nanoparticles with average diameter of 58 nm was confirmed by TEM *** images of bare FRST nanoparticles show a heterogeneous surface with porous *** surface area of FRST nanoparticles is calculated to be 33.69 m2/*** significant uptake of Ce3＋ ions can be obtained for all the selected concentrations（25-150 mg/L） within 2 h of adsorbent—adsorbate *** pH study shows that by increasing pH from acidic to alkaline range,higher removal can be *** study demonstrates the endothermic nature of Ce3＋*** value of sticking probability suggests very high sticking probability of Ce3＋ ion for FRST ***3＋ uptake is favored by higher temperature and with the increase in temperature from298 to 328 K,Langmuir adsorption capacity increases from 36.45 to 42.99 m2/*** of FRST nanoparticles was also investigated for other light and heavy rare earth elements in single solute and multisolute systems,FRST nanoparticles show the significant removal of divalent metallic pollutants as *** assessment of chemical toxicity of treated wastewater was carried out with the bioluminescent photobacterium（Vibrio fischeri） and decreased toxicity was observed in treated water *** outcome of present study suggests that the FRST nanoparticles can be efficiently utilized for the removal of Ce3＋ ions and a wide range of other pollutant species as well.
