Recently, the problems of the environment and energy must be managed on a global scale. The fuelcell is a new co.eneration system well suited for environment preservation, and is positioned asnew energy capable of improving the efficiency of energy utilization. Fuji electric started todevelop fuel cells in 1960s. To date, over 90 on-site PAFC (phosphoric acid fuel cell) plants havemanufactured, and the accumulated operating time exceeds 1.6 million hours. The 2d co.mercialtype 100kW model FP100F will be sold from the seco.d half of 2001. This model achieved40%(LHV) electrical efficiency, and when the heat reco.ery is utilized, overall energy efficiencywill be greater than 80%.The fuel processor is one of main co.ponents of the PAFC power plant. Simplification and sizereduction are required of the fuel processor for co.t reduction. co.ing with this situation, we hasdeveloped new model reformers, and a new model desulfurizer/shift co.verter.

East Africa Region Energy Projection with the Carbon Emissions for co.ventional Energy

In this study we analyzed the generation and the potential of the electricity capacity of energy mix in East Africa from 2020 to 2040 including co. emission. The predicted results show that the electricity generated from hydro will dominate co.pared to gas, oil, co.l, Solar PV, bio-energy and other renewable energy. Some forms of energies such as bio-energy, solar PV will co.tribute less, while the co.tribution of nuclear will remain insignificant. The oil will co.tinue to emit a lot carbon dioxides co.pared to the emission from gas and co.l. The emission of co. from total final co.sumption (TFC) of oil will be high co.pared to its emission from power generation (PG) of oil. More importantly, the results show a linear relationship between the energy outlook and time. This approach of modeling the energy in a linear form simplifies significantly the analysis of the electricity generation and capacity. Due to this high emission of co., a new policy and a transition from co.ventional to renewable should be implemented with clean and energy efficiency technology.

In order to investigate its frequency upco.version luminescence properties,Er-Yb co.doped oxy-fluoro-tungstosilicate glasses were prepared by melting and heat treating *** transmission spectra,optical absorption spectra(in the range of 350-2000 nm) and photoluminescence spectra(in the range of 400-800 nm) were measured to study the optical properties of the samples at ambient *** results showed that intense green and red signals centered at 546 and 665 nm, co.responding to the 4S3/2→4115/2 and 4F9/2→4115/2 transitions of Er,respectively,were simultaneously observed at room *** dependence of upco.version intensities on excitation power presented the two photon absorption processes for the three emission *** possible upco.version mechanisms were discussed based on the energy-matching co.ditions and the quadratic dependence on excitation *** upco.version process was found very sensitive to Er co.tent:with the increase of Er co.tent from 0.5%to 1.5%,the upco.version intensity increased gradually,the luminescence intensity was up to 3 times when Er co.centration was 1.5%co.pared with its co.centration was 1.0%;while further increasing Er co.tent to 3.0%resulted in a significant fluorescence *** quenching mechanism of the samples was also well analyzed.

An experimental investigation of two-co.or polarization spectrosco.y(TCPS) is presented based on the cesium 6 S1/2– 6P3/2– 8S1/2(852.3 nm + 794.6 nm) ladder-type system in a room-temperature vapor cell. The dependency of line shapes of TCPS on the power of a 852.3 nm pump and a 794.6 nm probe laser is measured in detail, and we co.firm that the linewidth of TCPS in a co.nter-propagating co.figuration between the pump and probe laser beams is obviously narrower than that of a co.propagating co.figuration, due to the atomic co.erence effect. It is helpful for laser stabilization of the excited state transition using TCPS without frequency modulation.

Analysis and Optimization of Key Dimensions of co.Axial Dual-Mechanical-Port Flux-Switching Permanent Magnet Machines for Fuel-Based Extended Range Electric Vehicles

In this paper,key dimensions of a co.axial dual-mechanical-port flux-switching permanent magnet(CADMP-FSPM)machine for fuel-based extended range electric vehicles(ER-EVs),including split ratio,stator/rotor pole arcs,rotor yoke thickness,etc.,are analyzed and ***,the topologies and operation principles of an exampled 3-phase CADMP-FSPM are introduced briefly,in which an inner-rotor FSPM machine with 12-stator-slots/10-rotor-poles for high-speed generation and an outer-rotor FSPM machine with 12-stator-slots/22-rotor-poles for low-speed motoring are assembled ***,the relationship between the key dimensions and electromagnetic performance,particularly for electromagnetic torque(power),of the CADMP-FSPM machine is studied by 2D-finite element analysis(FEA).Further,the reasonable matches of split ratio,rotor/stator pole arcs and rotor yoke are determined and the original CADMP-FSPM machine is optimized ***,the static characteristics,including no-load PM flux-linkage,electro-motive-force(EMF),winding inductances,co.ging torques and electromagnetic torques,of the original and optimized machines are co.pared by *** results verify that the optimized CADMP-FSPM machine can exhibit improved torque characteristics than the original one,i.e.,the torque ripples of the inner and outer machines can be reduced by 22.7%and 4.7%,respectively,and the average torque of the inner and outer machines can be increased by 0.43Nm and 2Nm,respectively.

Ultrasmall NiFe layered double hydroxide strongly co.pled on atomically dispersed Feco.NC nanoflowers as efficient bifunctional catalyst for rechargeable Zn-air battery

An atomically dispersed Feco.NC material with the 3D flower-like morphology was used as a unique substrate for the co.trollable deposition of ultrasmall NiFe layered double hydroxide nanodots(termed as NiFe-NDs)to simultaneously promote the sluggish kinetics of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER).The size-limiting growth of NiFe-NDs(~4.0 nm in diameter)was realized via the co.finement of the 3D flower-like mesoporous structure and the rich N/O functionality of *** from the distinctive structure with the simultaneously maximum exposure of both OER and ORR active sites,the NiFe-ND/Feco.NC co.posite showed an ORR halfwave potential of 0.85 V and an OER potential of 1.66 V in0.1 mol L-1KOH at 10.0 mA ***-situ Raman analysis suggested the activity of OER was derived from the Ni sites on NiFe-ND/***,the NiFe-ND/Feco.NC-assembled Zn-air battery(ZAB)exhibited a very small discharge-charge voltage gap of 0.87 V at 20 mA cm-2and robust cycling ***,the NiFe-ND/Feco.NC co.posite was also applicable for fabricating all-solid-state ZAB to power wearable electronics with superior cycling stability under *** work co.ld enlighten a new applicable branch of atomically dispersed metal-nitrogen-carbon materials as unique substrates for fabricating multifunctional electrocatalysts.

Performance of Tractor Diesel Engine with Animal-Fats Biodiesel

Animal fats biodiesel were manufactured and tested for its performance in the tractor engine and fuel adoptability in the field works. Four different fuels, three different co.tent of biodiesel （BD20, BD50 and BD100） and light oil, were prepared and tested in the four strokes diesel engine. power output, fuel co.sumption rate and exhaust gases of the four fuels in the diesel engine were co.pared and discussed. power output of light oil engine was the greatest showing 5.3% difference between light oil and BDI00. But, almost no power difference between light oil engine and BD20 engine, light oil engine produced 0.37% more power than BD20 engine superior to better power than BD20 engine. Less exhaust gases of co., co. NOx and total hydrocarbon （THC） were produced from animal fats biodiesel than light oil, which co.firmed that biodiesel is environmental friendly fuel. For fuel adoptability in the tractor, biodiesel engine tractor showed its fuel co.petitiveness co.paring with light oil for tractor works in the paddy field.
