Genesis of LCT Pegmatites during Early Paleozoic Orogeny of the North Qinling Orogenic Belt, China:Emplacement Conditions and Structural Control

The Guanpo pegmatite field in the North Qinling orogenic belt（NQB）, China, hosts the most abundant LCT pegmatites. However, their emplacement conditions and structural control remain unexplored. In this contribution, we investigated it combining pegmatite orientation measurement with oxygen isotope geothermometry and fluid inclusion study. The orientations of type A1 pegmatites（P_f < σ2） are predominantly influenced by P-and T-fractures due to simple shearing in Shiziping dextral thrust shear zone during D2deformation, whereas type A2 pegmatites（contemporaneous with D4） are governed by hydraulic fractures aligned with S0and S0+1stemming from fluid pressure（P_f < σ2）. Additionally, type B pegmatites（P_f ≤ σ2） exhibit orientations shaped by en echelon extensional fractures in local ductile shear zones（contemporaneous with D3）. The albite-quartz oxygen isotope geothermometry and microthermometric analysis of fluid inclusions in elbaites from the latest pegmatites（including types B and A2） suggest that the crystallization P-T for late magmatic and hydrothermal stages are 527.5–559.2℃, 320℃, 3.1–3.6 kbar and 2.0 kbar, respectively. Our observations along with previous studies suggest that the genesis of the LCT pegmatites was a long-term, multi-stage event during early Paleozoic orogeny（including the collision stage） of the NQB, and was facilitated by various local fractures.

Petrogenesis and Tectonic Implications of the Paleoproterozoic A-Type Granites in the Xiong’ershan Area along the Southern Margin of the North China Craton

Paleoproterozoic A-type granites are widely distributed in the southern margin of the North China Craton(SNCC),providing important information for understanding the Paleoproterozoic tectonic regimes in this *** paper reports newly obtained whole-rock compositions and zircon U-Pb ages for the Tieluping syenogranite porphyry(TLP)and Huoshenmiao alkali granite porphyry(HSM)in the *** from the TLP and HSM have U-Pb ages of 1805±12 and 1792±14 Ma,*** ages are taken to date the emplacement of these *** had high total alkali contents(K_(2)O+Na_(2)O>7.13 wt.%),with high 10000×Ga/Al ratios(3.06–3.41)and Zr+Y+Nb+Ce values(709 ppm–910 ppm)as well as high zircon saturation temperatures(864–970℃),indicative of A-type granite *** Y/Nb(1.75–3.32),Ce/Nb(7.72–9.72),and Yb/Ta(2.89–5.60)ratios suggested that TLP and HSM belonged to the A2-type *** negative whole rockε_(Nd)(t)values(−8.4 to−6.6)and negative zirconε_(Hf)(t)values(−15.9 to−6.3)confirmed that TLP and HSM were likely generated by the partial melting of an ancient continental ***εHf(t)(−7.4 to+4.0)values of inherited zircons in the TLP suggested that they were derived from the partial melting of Archean basement *** the geochemical similarity of the 1.80 Ga A-type granitoids in the SNCC,we propose that the TLP and HSM were formed in a post-collisional regime that was likely associated with the break-off of the Paleoproterozoic subducted *** of the asthenosphere provided huge heat to generate the regional 1.80 Ga A-type granite in the SNCC.

Unconfined compressive strength and failure behaviour of completely weathered granite from a fault zone

Understanding the strength characteristics and deformation behaviour of the tunnel surrounding rock in a fault zone is significant for tunnel stability *** this study,a series of unconfined compression tests were conducted to investigate the mechanical characteristics and failure behaviour of completely weathered granite(CWG)from a fault zone,considering with height-diameter(h/d)ratio,dry densities(ρd)and moisture contents(ω).Based on the experimental results,a regression mathematical model of unconfined compressive strength(UCS)for CWG was developed using the Multiple Nonlinear Regression method(MNLR).The research results indicated that the UCS of the specimen with a h/d ratio of 0.6 decreased with the increase ofω.When the h/d ratio increased to 1.0,the UCS increasedωwith up to 10.5%and then ***ρd is conducive to the improvement of the UCS at anyω.The deformation and rupture process as well as final failure modes of the specimen are controlled by h/d ratio,ρd andω,and the h/d ratio is the dominant factor affecting the final failure mode,followed byωandρ*** specimens with different h/d ratio exhibited completely different fracture mode,i.e.,typical splitting failure(h/d=0.6)and shear failure(h/d=1.0).By comparing the experimental results,this regression model for predicting UCS is accurate and reliable,and the h/d ratio is the dominant factor affecting the UCS of CWG,followed byρd and thenω.These findings provide important references for maintenance of the tunnel crossing other fault fractured zones,especially at low confining pressure or unconfined condition.

The underappreciated role of fugitive VOCs in ozone formation and health risk assessment emitted from seven typical industries in China

Druse Calcite Crystals Formed by Mesoproterozoic Paleo-Earthquake Activity in the Northern Margin of the North China Craton

Spatial Distribution and Temporal Variation of the Winter Wheat Late Frost Disaster in henan,China

The winter wheat late frost disaster（WFD） occurs mainly in the Yellow and Huaihe River area,of which henan Province covers the most *** is the major area of wheat production in China,but it is severely hit by the *** this study,we construct a WFD index based on the minimum temperature and the winter wheat development period（WDP）.The WFD degrees and days at 30 agrometeorological stations in henan Province during the period of 1981-2004 are *** the large-scale temporal variation analysis of WFD,the 24-yr WDP observation series is relatively short,so it is expanded by using the relation between the turning green date of winter wheat and the 5-day running mean temperature and that between the stem elongation phase and the effective cumulative temperature above a critical value of 2.5 ℃.The WFD data are also expanded for the last 50 years and are analyzed by using the empirical orthogonal function（EOF） and the Morlet wavelet *** in the spatial distribution and temporal variation of WFD are *** results show that the frequency of WFD is generally high,exceeding 40% in parts of henan,and exhibits a rising trend in the period of *** variation trend of WFD degrees is similar to that of WFD days,and the areas with higher WFD degrees coincide the areas with more WFD ***,the WFD degree has a greater impact on the winter wheat yield than the WFD *** areas with high WFD degrees lie in the southeast and southwest of henan,and the areas with low WFD degrees lie in the south of the Huaihe River and parts of western *** variations of the first and second EOF modes of the WFD degree display 16-and quasi-22-yr periodicities,*** areas of high（low） WFD frequency are distributed in the northern henan and the southwest border of henan（the northeast henan and the middle part of southwest henan）.The temporal variation of the first（second） EOF mode of WFD days exhibits a periodicity（periodicities

Trends in Annual and Seasonal Pan Evaporation in the Lower Yellow River Basin from 1961 to 2010

The annual and seasonal trends in pan evaporation in the lower Yellow River Basin based on quality-controlled data from 10 meteorological stations in 1961-2010 are analyzed. The causes for the changes in annual and seasonal pan evaporation are also discussed. The results suggest that, despite the 1.15~C increasing in annual mean surface air temperature over the past 50 years （0.23°C per decade）, the annual pan evaporation has steadily declined by an average rate of-7.65 mm per year. By comparison, this change is greater than those previously reported in China. Significant decreasing trends in annual pan evaporation have been observed at almost all stations. As a whole, seasonal pan evaporation decreased significantly, especially in summer, whereas seasonal temperature increased significantly, except in summer. Thus, the pan evaporation paradox exists in the lower Yellow River Basin. The trend analysis of other meteorological factors indicates significant decrease in sunshine duration and wind speed, but no significant variations in precipitation and relative humidity at annual and seasonal time scales. By examining the relationship between precipitation and pan evaporation, it did not show a concurrent decrease in pan evaporation and increase in precipitation. The partial correlation analysis discovered that the primary cause of decrease in annual and seasonal pan evaporation is the decrease in wind speed. A further examination using a stepwise regression shows that decrease in wind speed and sunshine duration, and increase in mean temperature axe likely to be the main meteorological factors affecting the annual and seasonal pan evaporation in the lower Yellow River Basin over the past 50 years.
