PdCu alloy anchored defective titania for photocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide into methane with 100% selectivity

The photoreduction of CO_(2)into CH_(4)with simultaneous high activity and selectivity is a promising strategy to increase energy supply and alleviate global ***,the absence of the active sites that is responsible for the adsorption and activation of CO_(2)and the generation of CO and H2via side reactions often lead to poor efficiency and low selectivity of the ***,Cu,Pd,and PdCu metal clusters cocatalyst-anchored defective TiO_(2)nanotubes(Cu/TiO_(2)-SBO,Pd/TiO_(2)-SBO,and Pd1Cu1/TiO_(2)-SBO)were designed via a simple solution impregnation reduction and applied for photocatalytic conversion of CO_(2)to CH_(4).The Pd1Cu1/TiO_(2)-SBO photocatalyst exhibits excellent catalytic performance among the other catalysts for photoreduction of CO_(2)into CH_(4).More interestingly,the product selectivity of CH_(4)reaches up to 100%with a rate of 25μmol g^(-1)h^(-1).In-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS)and density functional theory(DFT)simulations indicate that the main reasons for the high selectivity of CH_(4)are attributed to the PdCu alloy and oxygen vacancies,which jointly enhance the photoinduced carrier separation and lower energy barriers of key ***,due to the tunable d-band center of the Cu site in the PdCu alloy,the generated intermediates can be well prevented from poisoning and promoted to participate in further ***,the current study will provide insight into the development of new,highly selective photocatalysts for the visible light-catalytic reduction of CO_(2)into CH_(4).

An STP look at logical blocking of finite state machines: formulation, detection, and search

The logical blocking of finite state machines(FSMs) is examined at the three levels of formulation,detection, and search from an STP viewpoint(semi-tensor product of matrices). The research idea regards an FSM as a logical system. The realizing method treats the event sequence exciting an FSM as the input signal of a logical system and treats the current states of an FSM as the states of a logical system. Based on a recently developed bilinear dynamic model of FSMs, a difference equation-like model is first proposed to describe the logical blocking. By defining a loop structure of FSMs and using the difference equation-like model, a criterion is built by which whether a given FSM is blocking can be easily judged. If it is, several algorithms are designed to find all the logical blocking of the FSM. Further, these results are extended to apply to the case of nondeterministic FSMs and, thus, to networks of FSMs. The proposed STP approach may provide a new angle for considering the problems of FSMs, and the presented results may strengthen the links between systems governed by human-designed rules and systems governed by natural laws.

Changes in physicochemical characteristics of wheat flour and quality of fresh wet noodles induced by microwave treatment

Fresh wet noodles(FWN) are popular staple foods due to its unique chewy texture and favorable taste. However,the development of FWN is limited by its short shelf life and high browning rate. It has been found that the quantity of original microorganisms in wheat flour produced by traditional method is relatively high, which is detrimental to the processing quality and storage stability of FWN. Consequently, it becomes imperative to decrease microorganisms in wheat flour. Microwave treatment has been regarded as a promising method in the food industry due to its potential in inhibiting microbial growth and inactivating enzymes without causing adverse effect on the food quality. This study aims to investigate the effects of microwave treatment of wheat kernels under different powers(1, 2, 3, 4, 5 kW) on the physicochemical properties of wheat flour and the quality of FWN. The results revealed that microwave treatment had a significant effect on microbial inhibition and enzyme inactivation, wherein the total plate count(TPC) and yeast and mold counts(YMC) decreased by 0.87 lg(CFU/g) and 1.13 lg(CFU/g) respectively, and PPO activity decreased from 11.40 U to 6.31 U. The dough quality properties, such as stability, extensibility, and starch viscosity, improved significantly under different microwave conditions. Confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM) images indicated that starch and proteins aggregated gradually in treated flour, altering rheological properties of dough. From the results of scanning electron microscopy(SEM), microwave treatment led to the appearance of disrupted structure in the gluten proteins, but the secondary structure of proteins altered slightly. Rheological properties of dough confirmed that the microwave treatment greatly affected processing characteristics of wheat flour products, with significant advantageous consequences on product quality, especially for textural properties of FWN. BACKGROUND Drug-induced liver injury(DILI)is one of the most common adverse events of medication use,and its incidence is ***,early detection of DILI is a crucial challenge due to a lack of biomarkers and noninvasive *** To identify salivary metabolic biomarkers of DILI for the future development of noninvasive diagnostic *** Saliva samples from 31 DILI patients and 35 healthy controls(HCs)were subjected to untargeted metabolomics using ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass *** analyses,including partial least squares-discriminant analysis modeling,t tests and weighted metabolite coexpression network analysis(WMCNA),were conducted to identify key differentially expressed metabolites(DEMs)and metabolite *** we utilized least absolute shrinkage and selection operato and random fores analyses for biomarker *** use of each metabolite and metabolite set to detect DILI was evaluated with area under the receiver operating characteristic *** We found 247 differentially expressed salivary metabolites between the DILI group and the HC *** WMCNA,we identified a set of 8 DEMs closely related to liver injury for further prediction ***,the distinct separation of DILI patients and HCs was achieved with five metabolites,namely,12-hydroxydodecanoic acid,3-hydroxydecanoic acid,tetradecanedioic acid,hypoxanthine,and inosine(area under the curve:0.733-1).CONCLUSION Salivary metabolomics revealed previously unreported metabolic alterations and diagnostic biomarkers in the saliva of DILI *** study may provide a potentially feasible and noninvasive diagnostic method for DILI,but further validation is needed.

Cytotoxic lignans from the roots and rhizomes of Diphylleia sinensis,a China's endemic plant species

Eight novel arylnaphthalide lactone lignans, designated as diphylignan A-H(1-8), and a new dibenzyltyrolactone lignan, designated as diphylignan I(9), were isolated from the roots and rhizomes of Diphylleia sinensis, along with two additional novel natural products(11 and 14) and four known metabolites(10, 12, 13, 15). The structural and stereochemical characterization of these compounds was accomplished using NMR spectroscopy and electronic circular dichroism(ECD) analysis. The cytotoxic activities of all isolated compounds were assessed against A-549 and SMMC-7721 cell lines. Notably, compound 2 demonstrated the most significant cytotoxicity, with IC_(50) values of 10.27 and 11.58 μmol·L^(-1) against A-549 and SMMC-7721 cell lines, respectively, exhibiting greater potency than the positive control, cisplatin.

MoS2 as a cocatalyst applied in advanced oxidation processes for enhancing degradation of organic pollutants: a review

Fenton technology,as a typical advanced oxidation processes（AOPs）,can generate reactive oxygen species（ROS） of strong oxidation capacity to degrade organic pollutants,which has attracted wide ***,it is accompanied by the slow Fe3+/Fe2+cycle rate,easy to generate iron sludge and so ***,it has been proven that the inorganic cocatalysts represented by MoS2can effectively solve the above ***,MoS2can accelerate the activation of peroxy mono sulfate（PMS） and peroxodisulfate（PDS） by Fe2+.In this paper,MoS2as the cocatalyst in H2O2+Fe2+,PMS+Fe2+and PDS+Fe2+were comprehensively ***,the cycling processes of Fe3+/Fe2+in different systems,the cocatalytic effect of MoS2by the exposed active sites,the ROS generation mechanism as well as the microscopic mechanism during the reaction were elaborated *** results indicate that the reductive active sites on the surface of MoS2can promote the regeneration of Fe2+through the cycle between Fe3+/Fe2+and Mo4+/Mo5+/Mo6+.Thus,ROS such as ·OH,SO4·-and1O2with strong oxidizing property can be produced to improve the degradation efficiency of organic *** last,the challenges and developments of MoS2cocatalysts in AOPs for practical applications were *** review contributes to a deeper understanding of the cocatalytic effect of two-dimensional metal sulfides in AOPs and facilitates their industrial application.

Most leguminous plants establish symbiotic relationships with rhizobia to form root organs called nodules(Ferguson et al.,2010).Nodules are specialized organs containing bacterial symbionts,which can provide enormous amounts of fixed nitrogen to their plant hosts(Peoples et al.,2009).Soybean(Glycine max),an economically important grain and oil crop,forms symbiotic nitrogen-fixing nodules,which reduces the demand for chemical nitrogen fertilizers and promotes yield(Saito et al.,2014).Nodule development is spatiotemporally regulated by the action of a number of transcription factors(TFs).
