Effects of Enteromorpha prolifera polysaccharides on growth performance,intestinal barrier function and cecal microbiota in yellow-feathered broilers under heat stress

Background Global warming leading to heat stress(HS)is becoming a major challenge for broiler *** study aimed to explore the protective effects of seaweed(Enteromorpha prolifera)polysaccharides(EPS)on the intestinal barrier function,microbial ecology,and performance of broilers under HS.A total of 144 yellow-feathered broilers(male,56 days old)with 682.59±7.38 g were randomly assigned to 3 groups:1)TN(thermal neutral zone,23.6±1.8℃),2)HS(heat stress,33.2±1.5℃ for 10 h/d),and 3)HSE(HS+0.1%EPS).Each group contained 6 replicates with 8 broilers per *** study was conducted for 4 weeks;feed intake and body weights were measured at the end of weeks 2 and *** the end of the feeding trial,small intestine samples were collected for histomorphology,antioxidant,secretory immunoglobulin A(s Ig A)content,apoptosis,gene and protein expression analysis;cecal contents were also collected for microbiota analysis based on 16S r DNA *** Dietary EPS promoted the average daily gain(ADG)of broilers during 3–4 weeks of HS(P<0.05).At the end of HS on broilers,the activity of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD),glutathione S-transferase(GST),and the content of s Ig A in jejunum were improved by EPS supplementation(P<0.05).Besides,dietary EPS reduced the epithelial cell apoptosis of jejunum and ileum in heat-stressed broilers(P<0.05).Addition of EPS in HS group broilers'diet upregulated the relative m RNA expression of Occludin,ZO-1,γ-GCLc and IL-10 of the jejunum(P<0.05),whereas downregulated the relative m RNA expression of NF-κB p65,TNF-αand IL-1βof the jejunum(P<0.05).Dietary EPS increased the protein expression of Occludin and ZO-1,whereas it reduced the protein expression of NF-κB p65 and MLCK(P<0.01)and tended to decrease the protein expression of TNF-α(P=0.094)in heat-stressed ***,the proportions of Bacteroides and Oscillospira among the three groups were positively associated with jejunal apoptosis and pro-inflammatory cytokine ex

How are multiple satellites seen from the ground? Relative apparent motion and formation stabilization

This paper answers how multiple satellites are seen from the ground. This question is inspired by space-advertising, a public exhibition in the night sky using a dot matrix of satellites that are bright enough to be seen by the naked eye. Thus, it is important for space advertisement that the specific dot matrix is seen. Moreover, the stability of the dot matrix during a visible span is very valuable. To stabilize the dot matrix, this study formulates an apparent position of a dot from a representative dot seen from the ground. The formulation, linear functions of a set of relative orbital elements, reveals the appearance of the dot matrix. The proposed relative variable in the formulation drives the instability of the dot matrix, thereby revealing an initial stable configuration of deputies from a chief. The arbitrary dot matrix designed using the configuration is stable even at low elevations without orbital control during the visible span.

The combination of horseradish peroxidase(HRP)and a fluorescence substrate has been attracting great interests in developing sensitive biochemical analysis and immunoassays.10-Acetyl-3,7-dihydroxyphenoxazine(ADHP or Amplex red)is the most sensitive fluorogenic substrate known for HRP in current market,however,it suffers from some drawbacks,such as non-specific reactivity to carboxylesterase and limited fluorescence *** the present study,a novel HRP substrate10-cyclopropylcarbonyl-dichloro-dihydroxyphenoxazine(AR-2),has been prepared,which exhibited improved sensitivity than ADHP in sensing ***,the fluorescence of AR-2/HRP demonstrated improved tolerance to physiological relevant p H fluctuation as compared to ADHP/*** detection of uric acid/urate oxidase reaction indicated excellent application prospect of AR-2/HRP for monitoring H_(2)O_(2)-generating biochemical *** interestingly,an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)using AR-2 as the fluorescence reporter has been successfully used in detecting IgG against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)from human serum ***,AR-2 exhibits improved performances over the commercial ADHP,which will be an ideal alternative to ADHP in HRP-based fluorescence biochemical analysis and immunoassays.

Feasibility of Integrating Leprosy Post-Exposure Prophylaxis with Single-Dose Rifampicin (LPEP) into Routine Leprosy Control Program in Bukedi and Teso Regions in Uganda

Background: World health Organization recommends the implementation of contact tracing and Leprosy Post Exposure prophylaxis (LPEP) to interrupt the chain of transmission. To accelerate the uptake of this recommendation, a cross-sectional study among contacts of leprosy patients was conducted to investigate the feasibility of integrating leprosy systematic contact tracing and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) into the routine leprosy control program. Methods: This was a mixed methods cross-sectional study. The study was implemented in Kumi, Ngora, Serere, Soroti, Budaka and Kibuku Districts. Results: The 45 enrolled index patients (97.8% of the registered) identified a total of 135 contacts, of which 134 (99·2%) consented and were screened. Among them, one new leprosy patient was identified and started on treatment with multidrug therapy (MDT). All the eligible contacts, received the prophylactic treatment with Single Dose Rifampicin (SDR). Overall, SDR was administered to 133(98.5% of the listed contacts) with no adverse event reported. Factors associated with successful contact investigation and management included: Involvement of index patients, health care workers during the contact screening and SDR A administration, counselling of the index patients and contacts by the health care works, LPEP being administered as Directly observed Therapy (DOT) among others. Results Interpretation: The integration of leprosy post-exposure prophylaxis with administration of SDR and contact tracing is feasible, generally accepted by the patient, their contacts and health workers and can be integrated into the National Leprosy control programmes with minimal additional efforts once contact tracing has been established. Therefore, we recommend integration of administration of SDR in to the routine leprosy control program.

Discharge and mass transfer characteristics of atmospheric pressure gas-solid two-phase gliding arc

In this work,a gas-solid two-phase gliding arc discharge(GS-GAD)reactor was *** arc was formed in the gap between the blade electrodes,and solid powder was deposited on the sieve plate positioned beneath the blade electrodes.A range of experimental parameters,including the inter-electrode spacing,gas flow rate,applied voltage,and the type of the powder,were systematically varied to elucidate the influence of solid powder matter on the dynamics of gliding arc discharge(GAD).The discharge images were captured by ICCD and digital camera to investigate the mass transfer characteristics of GS-GAD,and the electrical parameters,such as the effective values of voltage,current,and discharge power were record to reveal the discharge characteristics of *** results demonstrate that powder undergoes spontaneous movement towards the upper region of the gliding arc due to the influence of electric field *** the discharge voltage,decreasing relative dielectric constant of the powder and reducing the electrode-to-sieve-plate distance all contribute to a greater involvement of powder in the GAD process,subsequently resulting in an enhanced powder concentration within the GAD ***,powder located beneath the gliding arc experiences downward resistance caused by the opposing gas flow and *** gas flow rate notably hampers the powder concentration within the discharge region,and the velocity of powder motion in the upper part of the GAD region is *** the condition of electrode-to-sieve-plate distance of 30 mm,gas flow rate of 1.5 L/min,and peak-to-peak voltage of 31 kV,the best combination of arc gliding and powder spark discharge phenomena can be achieved with the addition of Al_(2)O_(3) powder.

Background:Lung adenocarcinoma is a very pervasive histological form of lung cancers,and inhibiting metastasis is crucial for effective *** this investigation,we explored the functional interaction of miR-30a-5p and the putative transcription factor 2 of the homeodomain(PHTF2)in dictating the aggressiveness and metastasis of lung ***:We collected clinical samples to evaluate the expression patterns of miR-30a-5p and PHTF2 in lung adenocarcinoma along with normal *** experiments including cell count kit(CCK)-8 growth assay,apoptosis analysis,migration and invasion examinations were performed to assess the aggressiveness of lung adenocarcinoma ***,we examined tumorigenesis and metastasis in a nude mouse ***:MiR-30a-5p exhibited downregulation pattern in lung adenocarcinoma *** of miR-30a-5p mimic in lung adenocarcinoma cells resulted in the suppression of malignant ***,the administration of miR-30a-5p mimic also curbed tumorigenesis and metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma cells in animal ***,PHTF2 was found to be a molecular target of *** PHTF2 counteracted the tumor-suppressive effect of the miR-30a-5p ***:miR-30a-5p functions as a tumor-suppressive molecule while PHTF2 acts as an oncogenic factor in the development and metastasis of lung ***,targeting miR-30a-5p and PHTF2 could be developed into a promising therapeutic approach for inhibiting metastasis in lung adenocarcinoma.
