Genetic Variations and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: Field Synopsis, Systematic Meta-Analysis, and Epidemiological Evidence*

Objective: To systematically summarize the published literature on the genetic variants associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Methods: Literature from Web of Science, PubMed, and Embase between January 1980 and September 2022 was systematically searched. Meta-analyses of the genetic variants were conducted using at least five data sources. The epidemiologic credibility of the significant associations was graded using the Venice criteria. Results: Based on literature screening, 399 eligible studies were included, comprising 381 candidate gene association, 16 genome-wide association, and 2 whole-exome sequencing studies. We identified 465 genetic variants in 173 genes in candidate gene association studies, and 25 genetic variants in 17 genes were included in the meta-analysis. The meta-analysis identified 11 variants in 10 genes that were significantly associated with NAFLD, with cumulative epidemiological evidence of an association graded as strong for two variants in two genes (HFE, TNF), moderate for four variants in three genes (TM6SF2, GCKR, and ADIPOQ), and weak for five variants in five genes (MBOAT7, PEMT, PNPLA3, LEPR, and MTHFR). Conclusion: This study identified six variants in five genes that had moderate to strong evidence of an association with NAFLD, which may help understand the genetic architecture of NAFLD risk. © 2024 The Editorial Board of Biomedical and Environmental Sciences

This paper investigates the prescribed-time state-feedback stabilization and prescribed-time inverse optimality problems for stochastic high-order nonlinear systems. First, a time-varying controller is designed by developing scaled quartic Lyapunov functions, which can guarantee that the system has a unique strong solution almost surely on the prescribed interval for any system initial conditions and that the states and the control converge to the origin in a mean-square form within the prescribed time. Then, the controller is redesigned to address the problem of prescribed-time inverse optimal mean-square stabilization. Finally,a concrete example is provided to confirm the efficiency of the proposed design schemes.

Strong orthogonal arrays(SOAs) were recently introduced and studied as a class of spacefilling designs for computer experiments. To surely realize better space-filling properties, SOAs of strength three or higher are desirable. In addition, orthogonality is also an important property for designs of computer experiments, because it guarantees that the estimates of the main effects are uncorrelated. This paper first provides a systematic study on the construction of(nearly) orthogonal strength-three SOAs with better space-filling properties. The newly proposed strength-three SOAs enjoy almost the same space-filling properties of strength-four SOAs, and can accommodate much more columns than the latter. Moreover, they are(nearly) orthogonal and flexible in run sizes. The construction methods are straightforward to implement, and their theoretical supports are well established. In addition to the theoretical results, many designs are tabulated for practical needs.

In this paper,we analyze the relationship between the equilibrium reinsurance strategy and the tail of the distribution of the *** Mean Residual Life(MRL)has a close relationship with the tail of the distribution,we consider two classes of risk distributions,Decreasing Mean Residual Life(DMRL)and Increasing Mean Residual Life(IMRL)distributions,which can be used to classify light-tailed and heavy-tailed distributions,*** assume that the underlying risk process is modelled by the classical CramérLundberg model *** the mean-variance criterion,by solving the extended Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation,we derive the equilibrium reinsurance strategy for the insurer and the reinsurer under DMRL and IMRL,***,we analyze how to choose the reinsurance premium to make the insurer and the reinsurer agree with the same reinsurance *** find that under the case of DMRL,if the distribution and the risk aversions satisfy certain conditions,the insurer and the reinsurer can adopt a reinsurance premium to agree on a reinsurance strategy,and under the case of IMRL,the insurer and the reinsurer can only agree with each other that the insurer do not purchase the reinsurance.

In evolutionary games,most studies on finite populations have focused on a single updating ***,given the differences in individual cognition,individuals may change their strategies according to different updating *** this reason,we consider two different aspiration-driven updating mechanisms in structured populations:satisfied-stay unsatisfied shift(SSUS)and satisfied-cooperate unsatisfied defect(SCUD).To simulate the game player’s learning process,this paper improves the particle swarm optimization algorithm,which will be used to simulate the game player’s strategy selection,i.e.,population particle swarm optimization(PPSO)*** find that in the prisoner’s dilemma,the conditions that SSUS facilitates the evolution of cooperation do not enable cooperation to *** contrast,SCUD conditions that promote the evolution of cooperation enable cooperation to *** addition,the invasion of SCUD individuals helps promote cooperation among SSUS *** by the PPSO algorithm,the theoretical approximation results are found to be consistent with the trend of change in the simulation results.
