Simulation and Preparation of Molecular Imprinting System with Atrazine as Template

In this work, atrazine functions as a template molecule, and trifluoromethacrylic acid （TFMAA）, methacrylic acid （MAA）, methyl methacrylate （MMA）, and acrylamide （AM） serve as functional monomers, respectively. By using density functional theory （DFT）, the computational approach was carried out to simulate the self-assembly system of template and functional monomer. The geometry optimization, action sites, binding energies, and molecular imprinting mechanism of complexes with different functional monomers in different proportions were predicted. The simulation results showed that atrazine and the functional monomers interacted through hydrogen bond. Among the 4 functional monomers, the imprinted complex formed by TFMAA and atrazine with a ratio of （1：6） has the lowest binding energy and the best imprinting effect. Then, the microspheres of molecularly imprinted polymer （MIPs） were prepared by precipitating polymerization using atrazine as the template molecule and TFMAA as the functional monomer. The microspheres were observed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. The results showed that atrazine MIP microspheres had average particle size of 400 nm, which was greater than the non-imprinted polymeric microspheres （NIPs）. Dynamic adsorption experiments of MIPs showed that the adsorption reaction reached balance after 200 min. Analysis of the Scatchard plot revealed that the binding sites of MIPs to atrazine were equal class under the studied concentration range. The dissociation constant （Kd） and apparent maximum adsorption quantity （Qmax） of MIPs were 3.6×10^-5 mol/L and 4.83μmol/g, respectively. The study of selective adsorption between atrazine and metribuzin showed that imprinted microspheres had high selectivity for the template molecule atrazine.

Petrography, Geochemistry and U-Pb Detrital Zircon Dating of the Clastic Phu Khat Formation in the Nakhon Thai Region, Thailand: Implications for Provenance and Geotectonic Setting

The purpose of this paper is to determine the provenance and tectonic setting of the Phu Khat Formation and get a better understanding of the tectonic evolution of the Nakhon Thai region using the petrography and whole-rock geochemistry integrated with the U-Pb detrital zircon dating. The sandstone of the Late Cretaceous to Early Tertiary Phu Khat Formation is chiefly characterized by unsorted texture and highly unstable volcanic lithic fragments. The formation overlies unconformably on a high textural and mineral maturity of clastic sandstone of the Late Cretaceous Khao Ya Puk Formation. Geochemically, the tectonic setting discrimination（K2O/Na2O-SiO2, Al2O3/SiO2-Fe2O3＋Mg O, and Th-Sc-Zr/10） and the petrography indicate that the Phu Khat Formation was accumulated in a passive margin tectonic setting which is the same as the Khao Ya Puk Formation but with a different depositional environment. The plots of geochemical provenance discrimination（La/Th-Hf, Th/Sc-Zr/Sc, Eu anomaly Eu/Eu＊ 0.42 to 0.74） and the petrography reveal that the provenance of the Khao Ya Puk Formation is mainly recycled sedimentary rocks while the Phu Khat Formation consists primarily of recycled sedimentary rocks associated with minor felsic volcanic rocks from the old continental island arc of the uplifted either western or eastern continental terranes or both. However, the U-Pb detrital zircon dating indicates a unique provenance of the Phu Khat Formation from the terrane west of the Nakhon Thai region where the volcanic continental arc is active predominantly in the Middle to Late Triassic. The results indicate that while the Phu Khat Formation was accumulated in Nakhon Thai region, the western terrane was uplifted by reactivation of the preexisting structure probably since the Maastrichtian time to be the source area of sediments. Effects of surfactants on graphene oxide nanoparticles transport in saturated porous media

Transport behaviors of graphene oxide nanoparticles（GONPs） in saturated porous media were examined as a function of the presence and concentration of anionic surfactant（SDBS）and non-ionic surfactant（Triton X-100） under different ionic strength（IS）. The results showed that the GONPs were retained obviously in the sand columns at both IS of 50 and200 mmol/L, and they were more mobile at lower IS. The presence and concentration of surfactants could enhance the GONP transport, particularly as observed at higher IS. It was interesting to see that the GONP transport was surfactant type dependent, and SDBS was more effective to facilitate GONP transport than Triton X-100 in our experimental conditions. The advection–dispersion–retention numerical modeling followed this trend and depicted the difference quantitatively. Derjaguin–Landau–Verwey–Overbeek（DLVO）interaction calculations also were performed to interpret these effects, indicating that secondary minimum deposition was critical in this study.

Effects of seed moisture content, stratification and sowing date on the germination of Corylus avellana seeds

For Corylus avellana, pericarp permeability,seed desiccation tolerance, and the effect of warm and cold moist stratification combinations on germination and of outdoor sowing date on dormancy breaking and seedling emergence were investigated. Seeds with(intact fruit nut)and without the pericarp were subjected to an imbibition test, and water uptake was measured. After nuts had been stored for 5 months at 3–5℃, seeds and desiccated seeds were cold-stratified at 3–5 ℃(for 0, 1, 2 or 3 months),then tested for germination. Nuts were warm-stratified at 20–25℃(for 0, 1 or 2 months), then cold-stratified(for 0,1, 2 or 3 months) and tested for seed germination. The nuts were sown outdoors on three dates in the same year of their collection: 15 September(immediately after collection), 2 November, and 17 December, and emerged seedlings were counted the following spring. The pericarp was not a barrier to water uptake by the seed;however, the seeds imbibed water faster and had more mass when the pericarp was removed. Seeds tolerated desiccation;germinationpercentage was not reduced when seed moisture content was reduced to 8.71%. Germination of seeds without the pericarp(regardless of the moisture content) was the highest when the seeds were cold-stratified for 2 *** seeds with the pericarp were tested for germination,2 months of warm stratification before a 2-month cold stratification maximized seed germination. For outdoor sowing of nuts, sowing date affected percentage of seedling emergence the following spring;early autumn sowing(immediately after collection) resulted in the best emergence.

Mainstreaming Early Warning Systems in Development and Planning Processes: Multilevel Implementation of Sendai Framework in Indus and Sahel

The third UN World Congress on Disaster Risk Reduction, held in Sendai, Japan in March 2015, agreed on a new framework to guide disaster risk reduction policy and practice for the next 15 years. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030(SFDRR) leaves important implementation issues unspecified and potentially creates both problems and opportunities for complex,multilevel governance systems in coping with hazards and disastrous events. Early warning systems(EWS), if built into the mainstream of planning for development and disaster relief and recovery, could present a significant opportunity to realize many SFDRR goals. We explore the complexities of using hydrometeorological EWS to prepare for drought and flood disasters in the densely populated communities of Pakistan’s Indus River Basin in contrast to the African Sahel’s less densely settled grasslands. Multilevel governance systems are often dominated by a topdown, technocentric, centralized management bias and have great difficulty responding to the needs of peripheral and vulnerable populations. People-centered, bottom-up approaches that incorporate disaggregated communities with local knowledge into a balanced, multilevel disaster risk management and governance structure have adramatically better chance of realizing the SFDRR goals for disaster risk reduction.

Analysis on energy demand and CO2 emissions in China following the Energy Production and Consumption Revolution Strategy and China Dream target

A quantitative model was applied to analyze the energy demand and CO2 emissions in China following the Energy Production and Consumption Revolution Strategy(2016e2030)and long-term economic and social development target China *** showed that 1)toward the 2050 China Dream target,total final energy consumption is expected to peak at 3.9 Gtce in 2030 and remain stable until 2050,whereas total primary energy consumption is expected to reach an upper platform by 2040 and around 5.8 Gtce by 2050;2)the proportion of non-fossil fuels is expected to reach approximately 50%and that of natural gas to reach more than 16%by 2050;3)CO2 emissions from energy use are expected to peak at 9.6 Gt by no later than 2030 and then gradually decline to 6.7 Gt by 2050.

Selective removal of nickel from iron substrate by non-cyanide strippers

A novel nickel stripper using ammonia as the key component was developed to substitute cyanide for removing nickel film from iron substrates. Its compositions are: ammonia 150 g/L, hydrogen peroxide 50 g/L, ammonium chloride 100 g/L, EDTA 7.5 g/L, copper chloride 15 g/L and glucopyrone 1.2 g/L. The optimum operating conditions are: pH 9.511, temperature 4050 ℃ and stripping time 1 h. It shows many advantages over the traditional cyanide stripper including no toxicity, mild operation, lower cost, larger holding capacity, faster stripping rate and good protection for the base metal, and can meet the technical requirements in industry.

Lead-phase and red-stripe color morphs of red-backed salamanders Plethodon cinereus differ in hematological stress indices:A consequence of differential predation pressure?

Throughout the animal kingdom there are species that have two or more phenotypic forms or ‘morphs＇, and many of these are amphibians. In North America, the red-backed salamander Plethodon cinereus can have either a red dorsal stripe or no dorsal stripe （lead-phase form）, and evidence to date indicates the lead-phase form incurs a greater number of attacks from predators. In a recent collection of 51 P cinereus, blood smears of both color morphs （35 red-stripe, 16 lead-phase） were examined to obtain numbers of circulating leukocytes （via light microscopy）, which can be used to indirectly estimate levels of stress hormones in vertebrates via a ‘hematological stress index＇, which is the ratio between the number of two leukocyte types （neutrophils and lymphocytes）. Our results showed that lead-phase salamanders tended to have greater numbers of circulating neutrophils and lower numbers of circulating lymphocytes than red-stripe morphs, leading to higher average neutrophil-lymphocyte ratios in lead-phase individuals. Since the salamanders were held （refrigerated） for 7 days before sampling, we cannot be certain if this effect is a stress reaction to the captivity or the normal level for this morph. However comparison with two sets of related salamanders that were captured and sampled immediately indicates the red-stripe salamanders were either not stressed from the captivity at all, or their white blood cell distributions had returned to normal after 7 days of captivity. Taken together, our results indicate that lead-phase forms of P. cinereus have higher stress levels than the red-stripe forms, which may be a consequence of their higher exposure to, and/or attacks from, predators. They may also indicate that the lead-phase form is less-suited to captivity than the red-stripe form of this species.

CO2 emission of urban passenger transportation in China from 2000 to 2014

The Efect of Rich Synthetic Copper-rich Solution on Antiseepage Dense Pre-hydration Geosynthetic Clay Liner

Dense pre-hydrated geosynthetic clay liners(DPH GCLs)were manufactured as innovative materials accompanied by the advantage of lower hydraulic conductivity(k).The k of DPH GCLs permeated with de-ionized water(DIW)was 9.8×10^(−12) m/*** effect of Cu^(2+)synthetic solution on DPH GCLs was ***,the effect mechanism was studied on the basis of test technologies.A significant adverse impact on hydraulic performance of DPH GCLs is found when the concentration of Cu^(2+)is greater than 1 g/***,XRD,XRF,FTIR,and XPS analyses show that the effect of Cu^(2+)on DPH GCLs includes two ***,Cu^(2+)interacts with hydrophobic organic matter(HOM),and the adhesion of bentonite is destroyed,and some holes *** Cu^(2+)contacts with bentonite directly,and Cu^(2+)interacts with bentonite through ion *** phenomenon occurs on the surface of the bentonite,and swelling ability of bentonite is reduced,which causes permeable DPH GCLs.
