Prospects on mangrove knowledge services in the smart era: From plant atlas to knowledge graphs

Mangroves are crucial to the ecological security of the Earth and human well-being. Their management, conservation, and restoration are of great importance and necessitate the support of spatio-temporal information and multidisciplinary knowledge such as biology and ecology. Traditional knowledge services such as plant atlas provide illustrated textual knowledge of mangroves. However, this kind of service is oriented to information retrieval and is incapable of effectively mining and utilizing fragmented knowledge from multi-source heterogeneous data, facing the problem of “massive data, rare knowledge”. Knowledge graphs are capable of extracting, organizing, and fusing the knowledge contained in massive data into semantic networks that can be understood and computed by computers. They provide a solution for the realization of intelligent knowledge services. Focusing on the urgent need for mangrove knowledge acquisition, formal representation, and intelligent services, this paper proposes a research prospect on mangrove knowledge graphs and knowledge services. We first analyze the similarities and differences between various domain-specific concepts of Tupu. On this basis, we define the mangrove knowledge graph as a large-scale knowledge base that integrates multi-disciplinary knowledge and spatio-temporal information with mangrove ecosystems as the core. Then, we propose a research framework for mangrove knowledge services that can realize the transformation from multi-modal data to intelligent knowledge services, including multiple research levels such as ubiquitous data sensing and aggregation, knowledge organization and graph construction, and intelligent mangrove knowledge services. Subsequently, the methods and workflow for constructing mangrove knowledge graphs are introduced. Economic effect of China's carbon neutrality target under shared socioeconomic pathways

Economic feasibility is crucial for achieving the carbon neutrality target. However, current integrated assessments often underestimate the economic impacts of mitigation policies due to the lack of consideration of their economic benefits. This study integrates a warming-labour productivity model with a typical integrated assessment model using shared socioeconomic pathways. It simulates China's economic development and carbon emission levels under both baseline and carbon-neutral policy scenarios, evaluating the economic costs and benefits of emission reduction policies aimed at achieving carbon neutrality. These findings reveal the following:(1) The economic costs of emission reduction policies are projected to peak between 2050 and 2060, ranging from 0.41% to 9.37% of total GDP in the baseline scenario, primarily due to increased energy prices and R&D investments. These costs are expected to decline rapidly after 2070.(2) China's carbon-neutral policies will mitigate global warming, with the economic benefits of mitigation projected to reach 5.65% to 17.24% of China's total GDP by 2100.(3) Lowcarbon scenarios SSP1 and SSP4 could significantly reduce initial economic costs and advance the onset of net economic gains to 2060. This integrated assessment confirms that China's carbon neutrality target offers substantial net economic benefits in the long term. To minimize initial economic costs, efforts should focus on enhancing consumption-side transitions, upgrading lowcarbon technologies, and adopting new energy sources.

Spatio-temporal patterns and climatic drivers of spring phenology in eight forest communities across the north-south transitional zone of China

Effects of water level variations on the water quality of Huayang Lakes, China

To explore water level variations and their dynamic influence on the water quality of Huayang Lakes, the water level from 1967 to 2023 and water quality from 2015 to 2023 were analyzed using the Mann–Kendall trend test, box plots, and violin plots. The results show a notable hydrological rhythm of water level alternation between dry and flood seasons in Huayang Lakes, with an average water level of 12.82 m and a monthly range of 11.21–17.24m. Since 2017, the water level of Huayang Rivers has shown a decreasing trend of –0.02 m/*** phosphorus(TP) has become the primary pollutant. The TP concentrations in Longgan Lake(the largest lake) during the dry, rising, flood, and retreating seasons from 2015 to 2023were 0.083, 0.061, 0.050, and 0.059 mg/L, respectively. The effect of water level on TP was mainly observed during the low-water period. When the water level in the dry season rose to 12.25 and 13.00 m, the percentage of TP exceeding 0.1 mg/L in Longgan Lake decreased to 55.8% and 33.3%, respectively. During the dry season, wind and wave disturbances caused the release of endogenous phosphorus in Huayang Lakes. This led to drastic fluctuations in TP concentration, reducing the correlation between water level and TP. When external control is limited, the water level during the dry season should be maintained between 12.25 and 13.0 m. Additionally, it is necessary to accelerate the restoration of submerged macrophyte species(such as Hydrilla verticillata and Vallisneria natans) in the Huayang Rivers.

The composition of magmatic-hydrothermal fluids and their related metal mineralization

Magmatic hydrothermal deposits are important sources of many bulk, precious, and rare metals, and have attracted interest from both academic and industrial communities. However, it is still unclear if the major enrichment of the ore-forming metals occurs in the parental magma source region, during the magma evolution, or after the fluid exsolution. Fluid inclusions trapped in hydrothermal minerals crystallized in the early, high-temperature stage before metal precipitation record information close to that of the initially exsolved magmatic fluids, which are helpful in revealing whether the metals have been already significantly enriched prior to the hydrothermal stage. In this study, available compositional data of such early-stage fluid inclusions from magmatic hydrothermal systems globally have been compiled. The results indicate that the concentrations of Cu,Sn, and W respectively from the Cu-, Sn-, and W-mineralized fluids are significantly higher than the hydrothermal systems that do not produce ores with the corresponding metals. This suggests that Cu, Sn, and W could have already been enriched in the magma source and/or magma evolution stage. The Mo concentrations show no difference between Mo-mineralized and Mobarren fluid systems, indicating no significant pre-enrichment in the source region or during the magma evolution. This also implies that an efficient collection of Mo from a large volume of magmas is required to account for the formation of a large Mo deposit. Almost all the hydrothermal fluids contain high concentrations of Fe and Zn-Pb, but only a few of them eventually form Fe or Zn-Pb deposits, reflecting an important role of the hydrothermal evolution process on the selective metal *** above results indicate that different metals are enriched in different stages of a magmatic hydrothermal system, and that the major roles played in the formation of a deposit vary with the metal types. In this study,hydrothermal catalytic liquefaction method was adopted to produce bio-oil from *** influence of supported Ni-Catalysts doped neodymium(Nd)on the bio-oil yield from microalgae liquefaction was investigated,aiming to find the optimal preparation procedure of *** proved that under the condition of a temperature of 270℃and a reaction period of 30 min,the bio-oil yield of hydrothermal catalytic liquefaction of spirulina powder could reach 55.1%by means of the catalyst prepared with 1 mol/L neodymium nitrate as the dipping solution after a calcination for 4 h at 800℃.In addition,the characterization on catalyst was discussed in this research.

Studying molecular recognition in aqueous environments is crucial for understanding biological processes. Herein, we present a series of N-doped endo-functionalized anthracene-based cavities by introducing inward-directed pyridine units. The subtle modifications can significantly affect the binding properties of these receptors, which is similar to the mutations in biological systems. Mixed matrix membranes(MMMs)have demonstrated significant promise in energy-intensive gas separations by amalgamating the unique properties of fillers with the facile processability of ***,achieving a simultaneous enhancement of permeability and selectivity remains a formidable challenge,due to the difficulty of achieving an optimal match between polymers and *** this study,we incorporate a porous carbon-based zinc oxide composite(C@ZnO)into high-permeability polymers of intrinsic microporosity(PIMs)to fabricate *** dipole–dipole interaction between C@ZnO and PIMs ensures their exceptional compatibility,mitigating the formation of non-selective voids in the resulting ***,C@ZnO with abundant interconnected pores can provide additional low-resistance pathways for gas transport in *** a result,the CO_(2) permeability of the optimized C@ZnO/PIM-1 MMMs is elevated to 13,215 barrer,while the CO_(2)/N_(2) and CO_(2)/CH4 selectivity reached 21.5 and 14.4,respectively,substantially surpassing the 2008 Robeson upper ***,molecular simulation results further corroborate that the augmented membrane gas selectivity is attributed to the superior CO_(2) affinity of C@*** summary,we believe that this work not only expands the application of MMMs for gas separation but also heralds a paradigm shift in the application of porous carbon materials.
