Introduction: Primary extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors (E-GIST) of the liver are rare. The clinical presentation can range from asymptomatic to bleeding or manifestations of mass effect. Cancer surgery followed by adjuvant treatment with imatinib is the standard of care. However, in special circumstances, a cytoreductive approach may represent a therapeutic option. We describe here the case of two patients who presented with a painful and protruding epigastric mass, the first case was a localized E-GIST candidate for neoadjuvant treatment with imatinib with complete resection surgery thereafter with very good evolution, and the second is that of an E-GIST of the liver at an advanced stage with an evolution very quick to death. Conclusion: Primary liver E-GIST is a rare condition. Treatment is based on systemic therapy and total resection surgery. However, cytoreductive surgery will be required when complete resection is not possible.

Hydration process, crack potential and setting time of concrete grade C30, C40 and C50 were monitored by using a non-contact electrical resistivity apparatus, a novel plastic ring mould and penetration resistance methods, respectively. The results show the highest resistivity of C30 at the early stage until a point when C50 accelerated and overtook the others. It has been experimentally confirmed that the crossing point of C30 and C50 corresponds to the final setting time of C50. From resistivity derivative curve, four different stages were observed upon which the hydration process is classified; these are dissolution, induction, acceleration and deceleration periods. Consequently, restrained shrinkage crack and setting time results demonstrated that C50 set and cracked the earliest. The cracking time of all the samples occurred within a reasonable experimental period thus the novel plastic ring is a convenient method for predicting concrete＇s crack potential. The highest inflection time（t_i） obtained from resistivity curve and the final setting time（t_f） were used with crack time（t_c） in coming up with mathematical models for the prediction of concrete＇s cracking age for the range of concrete grade considered. Finally, an ANSYS numerical simulation supports the experimental findings in terms of the earliest crack age of C50 and the crack location.

Inoperable Pancreatic Metastasis of Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report and a Review of Literature

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a common cancer, but its pancreatic metastasis is unusual. We report a case of a 50-year-old male who was under the first line of treatment for a metastatic RCC since 2009. In August 2015, he showed up to the day unit with a cholestatic jaundice, and the investigations led to the discovery of a liver function alteration and a pancreatic mass. The biopsy of the inoperable mass revealed a RCC metastasis. The localization of this metastasis complicated the management of the disease due to haemorrhage and anemia. An embolization was performed to control the local complications. The patient was commenced on everolimus but with modest results forcing us to start exclusive palliative care.

This study aimed to describe the factors associated with biofilms formation in dental pathology by comparison of bacterial growth on dental and stainless-steel surfaces. We studied in vitro the behavior of Staphylococcus aureus Métis in order to observe the capacity of adhesion, to evaluate quantitatively the potential of proliferation and to compare the behavior of this germ in contact with the two surfaces. The biomaterials used were cylinders in Stainless steel (AISI 316L), dental fragments and stainless-steel fragments, all were disinfected for 15 minutes and then sterilized in a wet autoclave at 120˚C for 30 min. Macroscopic observation with a binocular magnifier of bacterial proliferation was carried out regularly after 6 h and 24 h of incubation. Observation by optical microscope based on GRAM staining made it possible to visualize the presence or absence of bacteria and to differentiate them. The adhesion of Staphylococcus aureus Méti S on dental fragments was compared to the one obtained on stainless steel fragments. We also carried a Bacterial count by optical dosing. Colic tuberculosis is rare even in countries endemic to Mycobacterium spp. Its incidence seems to be increasing over the last decade. Presentation in the form of abdominal mass is exceptional and often misdiagnosed as gastrointestinal tumor. The possibility of a colic involvement of this infection needs to be considered given the broad spectrum of clinical manifestations of TB infection. We present a case of pseudo colic tuberculosis in a 58-year-old patient with no history of disease.

Metastatic small bowel tumors in the testes are uncommon often indicating an advanced stage of sickness with poor prognosis. The route of spread to the scrotal level has not yet been defined. Aggressive fibromatosis arising from the small bowel mesentery is extremely rare. It may occur in association with previous trauma, abdominal surgery, drugs, Gardner’s syndrome, or familial adenomatous polyposis. This paper presents a 32-year-old man with no significant medical or surgical history, complaining of diffuse abdominal pain and discomfort. His computed tomography scan revealed a well-defined soft tissue mass in the peritoneal cavity. He underwent surgical excision of the mass with resection and anastomosis of the involved loop of the small intestine. Histological examination confirmed mesenteric fibromatosis without infiltration of the bowel. The patient remained well during the 8 months follow-up.

The weather-dependent uncertainty of wind and solar power generation presents a challenge to the balancing of power generation and demand in highly renewable electricity *** energy storage can provide flexibility to firm up the variability of renewables and to respond to the increased load demand under decarbonization *** paper explores how the battery energy storage capacity requirement for compressed-air energy storage(CAES)will grow as the load demand *** we used an idealized lowest-cost optimization model to study the response of highly renewable electricity systems to the increasing load demand of California under deep *** show that providing bulk CAES to the zero-emission power system offers substantial benefits,but it cannot fully compensate for the 100%variability of highly renewable power *** capacity requirement of CAES increases by≤33.3%with a 1.5 times increase in the load demand and by≤50%with a two-times increase in the load *** this analysis,a zero-emission electricity system operating at current costs becomes more cost-effective when there is firm power *** least competitive nuclear option plays this role and reduces system costs by 16.4%,curtails the annual main node by 36.8%,and decreases the CAES capacity requirements by≤80.7%in the case of a double-load *** CAES has potential in addressing renewable variability,its widespread deployment is constrained by geographical,societal,and economic fac***,if California is aiming for an energy system that is reliant on wind and solar power,then an additional dispatchable power source other than CAES or similar load flexibility is *** fully harness the benefits of bulk CAES,the development and implementation of cost-effective approaches are crucial in significantly reducing system costs.
