Impact of a new pesticide on rhizosphere microbes and plant health:Case study of Y17991 against sharp eyespot in wheat

Sharp eyespot(Rhizoctonia cerealis) is a widespread soil-borne fungal disease that poses a severe threat to wheat health, and it is one of the main obstacles to achieving stable and high-quality wheat yields in China. Our collaborative team has developed a novel, efficient, and low-toxicity fungicide named Y17991(N-(2-(2,4-bis-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy)phenyl)-3-(difluoromethyl)-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide). Preliminary laboratory tests confirmed the significant inhibitory effect of this agent on R. cerealis. Large-area field trials also demonstrated its efficacy, with a disease prevention index of 83.52%, which is 1.97% greater than that of the widely used thifluzamide, and it significantly increased the wheat yield. Moreover, this study explored the impacts of Y17991 on the structure and function of the microbial community in wheat rhizosphere soil. Bacterial communities were more strongly affected than fungal communities. Y17991 significantly modulated key amino acid metabolic pathways and certain biosynthetic processes in diseased wheat rhizospheres, and it also enhanced certain biosynthetic pathways and metabolic activities in healthy wheat rhizospheres. Additionally, the application of Y17991 regulated rhizosphere metabolites, thus exerting significant control over the microbial community. We identified 15 microbial strains potentially involved in the prevention and treatment of R. cerealis, and Y17991 treatment promoted the growth of Pedobacter and Bacillus strains. These strains not only aid in plant growth but they also have the potential for disease prevention. In summary, Y17991 application at a reasonable dose does not cause significant disruption to nontarget rhizosphere microbial communities. In future studies, we will continue to investigate the impacts of Y17991 on nonmicrobial components in soil ecosystems, such as protozoa and nematodes. Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)are regarded as one of the most promising rivals in the upcoming high-energy secondary battery market because of their safety and ***,the zinc dendrites growth and hydrogen evolution corrosion of the Zn anode have seriously restricted the application of ***,to overcome these constraints,a three-dimensional(3D)porous PFA-COOH-CNT artificial solid electrolyte interface(SEl)film with high hydrophobic and zincophilic properties was constructed on Zn anode surface by in-situ polymerization of furfuryl alcohol(FA)and carboxyl carbon nanotubes(COOH-CNT).A series of in-situ,ex-situ characterizations as well as the density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that the formed PFA-COOH-CNT SEI film with an abundant oxygen-containing group can provide abundant zincophilic sites and induce homogeneous deposition of Zn^(2+),as well as the hydrophobic alkyl and carbon skeleton in PFA-COOH-CNT SEI film can isolate the direct contact of H_(2)O with Zn anode,and inhibit the occurrence of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Accordingly,the Zn anode with PFA-COOH-CNT layer can attain an ultra-long cycle life of 2200 h at 1 mA·cm^(-2),1 mAh·cm^(-2).Simultaneously,the assembled PFA-COOH-CNT@ZnllV2Os full cell can also achieve a high reversible capacity of up to 150.2 mAh•g^(-1) at 1 A·g^(-1) after 400 cycles,with a high average coulombic efficiency(CE)of 98.8%.The designed PFA-COOH-CNT artificial SEI film provides a broad prospect for highly stable zinc anode,and can also be extended to other energy storage systems based on metal anodes.

Periodic microscale array structures play an important role in diverse applications involving photonic crystals and diffraction gratings.A polarized holographic lithography system is proposed for patterning high-uniformity microscale two-dimensional crossed-grating structures with periodic *** two-axis Lloyd’s mirror interference and polarization modulation produce three sub-beams,enabling the formation of two-dimensional crossed-grating patterns with wavelength-comparable periods by a single *** two-dimensional-pattern period can also be flexibly tuned by adjusting the interferometer spatial *** states of three sub-beams,defining the uniformity of the interference fringes,are modulated at their initial-polarization states based on a strict full polarization tracing model in a three-dimensional space.A polarization modulation model is established considering two conditions of eliminating the unexpected interference and providing the desired identical interference *** proposed system is a promising approach for fabricating high-uniformity two-dimensional crossed gratings with a relatively large grating period range of 500–1500 ***,our rapid and stable approach for patterning period-tunable two-dimensional-array microstructures with high uniformity could be applicable to other multibeam interference lithography techniques.

Control of polymorphism in solution-processed organic thin film transistors by self-assembled monolayers

Polymorphism of organic semiconductor films is of key importance for the performance of organic thin film transistors(OTFTs).Herein,we demonstrate that the polymorphism of solution-processed organic semiconductors in thin film transistors can be controlled by finely tuning the surface nanostructures of substrates with self-assembled monolayers(SAMs).It is found that the SAMs of 12-cyclohexyldodecylphosphonic acid(CDPA)and 12-phenyldodecylphosphonic acid(Ph DPA)induce different polymorphs in the dip-coated films of 2-dodecyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene(BTBT-C12).The film of BTBT-C12 on CDPA exhibits field effect mobility as high as 28.1 cm2 V-1 s-1 for holes,which is higher than that of BTBT-C12 on Ph DPA by three *** high mobility of BTBT-C12 on CDPA is attributable to the highly oriented films of BTBT-C12 with a reduced in-plane lattice and high molecular alignment.

Mechanism on minimization of excess sludge in oxic-settling- anaerobic (OSA) process

The oxic-settling-anaerobic(OSA)process is a promising wastewater treatment technique for efficiently reducing sludge production and improving the stability of process *** this paper,the possible factors of sludge reduction such as sludge decay,uncoupled metabol-ism,and anaerobic oxidation with low sludge production were discussed in the OSA *** has been confirmed that sludge decay is the decisive cause in the OSA process,accounting for 66.7%of sludge production *** decay includes hydrolysis and acidogenesis of dead microorganisms and particle organic carbon adsorbed in sludge floc and endogenous *** batch experi-ments,it has been proven that there is energetic uncoupling in the OSA system since microorganisms were exposed to alternative anaerobic and aerobic *** accounts for about 7.5%of sludge production *** chemical oxygen demand(SCOD)released from the anaerobic sludge tank in the OSA process was used as the substrate for cryptic *** substrate was used for anoxic denitrifying,anaerobic phosphorus release,sulfate reduction,and methane *** anaerobic reactions in the sludge anaerobic tank have lower sludge production than in the aerobic oxidation when equivalent SCOD is consumed,which may lead to approximately 23%of sludge reduction in the OSA *** has been concluded that multiple causes resulted in the minimization of excess sludge in the OSA *** microbial community structure and diversity of sludge samples from the CAS(conventional activated sludge)and OSA systems were investigated by 16 SrDNA PCR-DG-DGGE(poly-merase chain reaction-double gradient-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis).DGGE profile and cluster analysis showed more abundant species in the OSA system contrasting to microbial communities in the CAS system.

In recent years,wearable electrochemical biosensors have received increasing attention,benefiting from the growing demand for continuous monitoring for personalized medicine and point-of-care medical *** electrochemical biosensing and corresponding power supply into everyday textiles could be a promising strategy for next-generation non-invasive and comfort interaction mode with *** review starts with the manufacturing and structural design of electrochemical biosensing textiles and discusses a series of wearable electrochemical biosensing textiles monitoring various biomarkers(e.g.,pH,electrolytes,metabolite,and cytokines)at the molecular *** fiber-shaped or textile-based solar cells and aqueous batteries as corresponding energy harvesting and storage devices are further introduced as a complete power supply for electrochemical biosensing ***,we discuss the challenges and prospects relating to sensing textile systems from wearability,durability,washability,sample collection and analysis,and clinical validation.
