High-intensity ultrasonic vibration was focused on the tip of conical steel specimens to induce severe plastic deformation at room temperature. We found, for the first time, that grain size smaller than 200 nm was obtained. Furthermore, the sharp tip of the conical specimen became umbrella-shaped or disk-shaped. The tip size changed from 0.5 mm diameter to a disk about 5 mm diameter, representing a large amount of plastic deformation in the metal at the tip of the conical specimen.

Conjugated polymers and oligomers have great potentials in various fields,especially in materials and biological sciences because of their intriguing electronic and optoelectronic *** recent years,the through-space conjugation system has emerged as a new assembled pattern of multidimensional ***,a novel series of structurally condensed multicolumn/multilayer 3D polymers and oligomers have been designed and synthesized through one-pot Suzuki polycondensation(SPC).The intramolecularly stacked arrangement of polymers can be supported by either X-ray structural analysis or computational *** all cases,polymers were obtained with modest to good yields,as determined by GPC and 1 ***-TOF analysis has proven the speculation of the step-growth process of this *** computational study of ab initio and DFT calculations based on trimer and pentamer models gives details of the structures and the electronic *** results of optical and AIE research confirmed by calculation indicates that the present work would facilitate the research and applications in materials.

In this study all energy in the universe, here called energy quanta, originate from a singularity at the centre of the universe. These energy quanta have different frequencies and at each frequency the energy quanta can have positive or negative spin direction. There is a force of attraction between energy quanta which have exactly the same frequency but opposite spins. This is the dominating force in the universe and accounts for the strong nuclear force, the Coulomb force and the gravitational force. The universe contains one more basic entity;the oscillator quantum which absorbs and re-emits energy quanta at one specific frequency. The oscillator quantum can have positive or negative spin. Thus, there is a force of attraction between oscillator quanta with opposite spins and which amalgamates oscillator quanta into larger structures, i.e. particles (e.g. electron). These particles also have spin at a specific spin frequency and they have positive or negative spin. Thus they absorb and re-emit energy quanta at a frequency specific to the particle and where they can have positive or negative spin. This amalgamates particles into larger structures, e.g. quarks, neutron, proton and atomic nucleus. Using this model enables simple and stringent descriptions of elementary particle physics, electromagnetic theory, gravity, photon and inertial mass. The present model may be a step towards unification of elementary particle physics, general relativity, quantum physics and electromagnetic theory into one comprehensive theory.

It is well known that seawater that migrates deep into the Earth’s crust will pass into its supercritical domain at temperatures above 407°C and pressures above 298 bars. In the oceanic crust, these pressures are attained at depths of 3 km below sea surface, and sufficiently high temperatures are found near intruding magmas, which have temperatures in the range of 800°C to 1200°C. The physico-chemical behaviour of seawater changes dramatically when passing into the supercritical domain. A supercritical water vapour (ScriW) is formed with a density of 0.3 g/cc and a strongly reduced dipolar character. This change in polarity is causing the ScriW to lose its solubility of the common sea salts (chlorides and sulphates) and a spontaneous precipitation of sea salts takes place in the pore system. However, this is only one of many cases where the very special properties of ScriW affect its surroundings. The objective of this paper is to increase awareness of the many geological processes that are initiated and governed by ScriW. This includes interactions between ScriW and its geological surroundings to initiate and drive processes that are of major importance to the dynamics and livelihood of our planet. ScriW is the driver of volcanism associated with subduction zones, as ScriW deriving from the subduction slab is interacting with the mantle rocks and reducing their melting point. ScriW is also initiating serpentinization processes where olivines in the mantle rocks (e.g. peridotite) are transformed to serpentine minerals upon the uptake of OH-groups from hydrolysed water. The simultaneous oxidation of Fe2+ dissolved from iron-bearing pyroxenes and olivines leads to the formation of magnetite and hydrogen, and consequently, to a very reducing environment. ScriW may also be the potential starter and driver of the poorly understood mud and asphalt volcanism;both submarine and terrestrial. Is it possible that a measurement of a spin component of a spin-1/2 particle yields the value 100?In 1988 Aharonov,Albert and Vaidman argued that upon pre-and postselection of particular spin states,weakening the coupling of a standard measurement procedure ensures this paradoxical *** theoretical prediction,called weak value,was realised in numerous experiments2-9,but its meaning remains very controversialsince its"anomalous"nature,i.e.z the possibility to exceed the eigenvalue spectrum,as well as its"quantumness"are *** address these questions by presenting the first experiment measuring anomalous weak values with just a single click,without the need for statistical *** measurement uncertainty is significantly smaller than the gap between the measured weak value and the nearest *** clarifying the meaning of weak values,demonstrating their non-statistical,single-particle nature,this result represents a breakthrough in understanding the foundations of quantum measurement,showing unprecedented measurement capability for further applications of weak values to quantum photonics.

Sub-nanometer armchair graphene nanoribbons(GNRs)with moderate band gap have great potential towards novel *** can be synthesized in the confined tubular space of single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs),in which precursor molecules have been specifically designed to form the GNRs with certain width and ***,it is still unexplored how the diameter and metallicity of SWCNTs influence the synthesis of the ***,we applied a series of SWCNTs with different average diameters to study the diameter-dependent synthesis of *** using Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy,we found that the width of the GNRs can be tailored by the diameter of the ***,the SWCNTs with average diameter of 1.3 nm produced 6 and 7 armchair GNRs with the highest yield,which can be well explained by considering the width of the GNRs and van der Waals radius of hydrogen and carbon *** addition,semiconducting and metallic SWCNTs produced GNRs with different yields,which could attribute to different diameter distributions and density of *** results enable the possibility of a high-yield production of certain armchair graphene nanoribbons in large scale,which would benefit future applications as semiconductor with sub-nanometer in width.
