Structural characteristics and tectonic division of the Zambezi Delta basin in the offshore East Africa:evidences from gravity and seismic data

The Zambezi Delta basin is a passive marginal basin located on the East African coast that has good oil and gas exploration *** to the special geological evolutionary background of the Beira High in the Zambezi Delta basin,it has a low gravity anomaly,and the existing seismic survey lines do not cover the whole basin;therefore,it is difficult to interpret the structural characteristics of the whole basin based solely on gravity or seismic *** on satellite altimetry gravity anomaly data,this study infers the distribution characteristics of faults in the Zambezi Delta basin by using the normalized vertical derivative of the total horizontal derivative(NVDR-THDR)***,constrained by seismic data,the gravity anomaly at the Moho interface is extracted by using the fast forward method of the double-interface model of the gravity anomaly,and this anomaly is then removed from the Bouguer gravity anomaly to obtain the sedimentary layer gravity *** thickness of the sedimentary strata is obtained by inversing the sedimentary basement depth of the whole ***,uplifts and depressions are divided based on a sedimentary layer thickness of 3 *** research demonstrates that the Zambezi Delta basin mainly features nearly SN-trending and NE-trending faults and that these faults exhibit east-west *** nearly SN-trending strike-slip faults controlled the sedimentary development of the basin,and the NE-trending tensile faults may have acted as migration channels for oil,gas and ***“overcompensation”effect of the Moho interface gravity anomaly on the gravity anomaly of the sedimentary layer is caused by the depression of the Moho interface beneath the Beira High,which results in a low gravity anomaly value for the Beira *** pattern of uplifts and depressions trends NE and has the structural characteristics of east-west blocks.

There is a global need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to limit the extent of climate change.A better understanding of how our own activities and lifestyle influence our energy use and carbon emissions can help us enable changes in activities that can lead to reductions in carbon *** we discuss an approach based on examining carbon emissions from the perspective of the unit C,where 1 C is the co_(2)from food a person would on average eat every *** approach shows that total co_(2)emissions in China,normalized by the population,is 22.5 C while carbon emissions for a person in the US is 43.9 C.A better appreciation of our own energy use can be obtained by calculating carbon emissions from our own activities in units of C,for example for driving a car gasoline or electric vehicle a certain number of kilometers,using electricity for our homes,and eating different *** this information,we can see how our carbon emissions compare to national averages in different countries and make decisions that could lower our personal co_(2)emissions.

Large porewater exchange reshapes saltmarsh carbon and greenhouse gas budgets on local and global scales

Saltmarshes are carbon-rich ecosystems that play a role in climate regulation by efficiently sequestrating atmospheric co_(2).Climate change is a major threat to saltmarshes and will impact saltmarsh carbon ***,porewater-derived carbon outwelling emerges as a crucial pathway for carbon sequestration,but it has been largely overlooked in ***,we assessed the drivers of dissolved carbon exports and greenhouse gas emissions in a saltmarsh and placed those observations into a global *** our study site,porewater exchange(PEX)was the major process controlling dissolved carbon and greenhouse gas *** our results with 33 other studies in saltmarshes worldwide,porewater-derived carbon fluxes were equivalent to~48% of average global saltmarsh primary productivity and 2.2 times greater than global organic carbon ***,our local observations and global upscaling demonstrate the major role played by PEX in saltmarsh carbon *** part of dissolved inorganic carbon returns to the atmosphere as co_(2),the remaining bicarbonate fraction is stored in the ocean over long time *** findings strengthen global blue carbon assessments and build arguments for the use of saltmarshes as nature-based solutions for global climate change.

Bed inventory balance and stability of dual circulating fluidized bed systems

Experiments and modelling are conducted for general understanding on the imbalance phenomenon and for discussion on the strategies to improve the bed inventory balance and stability of a dual circulating fluidized bed(DCFB)*** experiments are carried out in a 15.5 m high pilot-scale DCFB cold test system.A fluid-dynamic DCFB model is developed based on a 1.5-dimensional semi-empirical model of an industrial CFB boiler,validated by experimental *** effects of control methods and operation conditions on the bed inventory balance and on the stability of the pilot-and large-scale DCFB systems are discussed.A"stable-unbalanced"state,where the system reaches a steady state,consisting of un-balanced bed inventories,is observed in both experiments and model *** maintain a balanced state and similar bed inventory in the DCFB systems with similar cross-sectional areas,it is recom-mended to keep similar total pressure drops or gas velocities in both reactors.

Attention-Based CNN Fusion Model for Emotion Recognition During Walking Using Discrete Wavelet Transform on EEG and Inertial Signals

Walking as a unique biometric tool conveys important information for emotion *** in different emotional states exhibit distinct walking *** this purpose,this paper proposes a novel approach to recognizing emotion during walking using electroencephalogram(EEG)and inertial *** recognition of emotion is achieved by training in an end-to-end deep learning fashion and taking into account multi-modal *** wear virtual reality head-mounted display(VR-HMD)equipment to immerse in strong emotions during *** environment shows excellent imitation and experience ability,which plays an important role in awakening and changing *** addition,the multi-modal signals acquired from EEG and inertial sensors are separately represented as virtual emotion images by discrete wavelet transform(DWT).These serve as input to the attention-based convolutional neural network(CNN)fusion *** designed network structure is simple and lightweight while integrating the channel attention mechanism to extract and enhance *** effectively improve the performance of the recognition system,the proposed decision fusion algorithm combines Critic method and majority voting strategy to determine the weight values that affect the final decision *** investigation is made on the effect of diverse mother wavelet types and wavelet decomposition levels on model performance which indicates that the 2.2-order reverse biorthogonal(rbio2.2)wavelet with two-level decomposition has the best recognition *** experiment results show that the proposed method outperforms other existing state-of-the-art works with an accuracy of 98.73%.

Poultry is a light-sensitive animal and the light environment has an important influence on the growth and development of these *** studies have mainly focused on the effects of the light environment on various physiological indicators of poultry but seldom explored the light demand characteristics of broilers under free *** experiment mainly studied the light demand characteristics of broilers under a yellow LED light environment and the influence of different breeding densities[low-density(2.5 broilers/m^(2)),high-density(7.5 broilers/m^(2))]on the production performance and diet characteristics of *** showed that the production performance indexes of low-density groups are higher than those of high-density *** feed and water consumption in the light area of the two experimental groups were significantly higher than those in the dark area,which means that the broilers showed a great preference for the light ***,as the age of the broilers increased,the food and water consumption of the broilers decreased,indicating that broilers had a lower preference for light in the middle and late stages of *** statistical results for the residence frequency distribution characteristics showed that broiler chickens had different light requirements at different growth stages under the condition of active selection:1)low-density breeding environment:23.8L(light):0.2D(dark)for chicks and 22.3L:1.7D for adult broilers;2)high-density breeding environment:22.6L:1.4D for chicks and 15.0L:9.0D for adult *** study will provide a reference for the optimization and control of light environment in broiler breeding.

Multimodal Machine Learning Guides Low Carbon Aeration Strategies in Urban Wastewater Treatment

The potential for reducing greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions and energy consumption in wastewater treatment can be realized through intelligent control,with machine learning(ML)and multimodality emerging as a promising ***,we introduce an ML technique based on multimodal strategies,focusing specifically on intelligent aeration control in wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs).The generalization of the multimodal strategy is demonstrated on eight ML *** results demonstrate that this multimodal strategy significantly enhances model indicators for ML in environmental science and the efficiency of aeration control,exhibiting exceptional performance and *** random forest with visual models achieves the highest accuracy in forecasting aeration quantity in multimodal models,with a mean absolute percentage error of 4.4%and a coefficient of determination of *** testing in a full-scale plant reveals that the multimodal model can reduce operation costs by 19.8%compared to traditional fuzzy control *** potential application of these strategies in critical water science domains is *** foster accessibility and promote widespread adoption,the multimodal ML models are freely available on GitHub,thereby eliminating technical barriers and encouraging the application of artificial intelligence in urban wastewater treatment.

Bi^(3+)-activated dual-wavelength emitting phosphors toward effective optical thermometry

Optical thermometry as an important local temperature-sensing technique,has received increasing attention in scientific and industrial ***,it is still a big challenge to develop luminescent materials with self-activated dual-wavelength emissions toward high-sensitivity optical ***,a novel ratiometric thermometric strategy of Bi^(3+)-activated dual-wavelength emission band was realized in the same lattice position with two local electronic states of La_(3)Sb_(1-x)Ta_xO_(7):Bi^(3+)(0≤x≤1.0)materials based on the different temperature-dependent emission behaviors,benefiting from the highlysensitive and regulable emission to the coordination environment of Bi^(3+).The structural and spectral results demonstrate that the emission tremendously shifted from green to blue with 68 nm and the intensity was enhanced 2.6 ***,the visual dual-wavelength emitting from two emission centers was presented by increasing the Ta^(5+)substitution concentration to 20%or 25%,mainly originating from the two local electronic states around the Bi^(3+)emission ***,the dual-wavelength with different thermal-quenching performance provided high-temperature sensitivity and good discrimination signals for optical thermometry in the range between 303 and 493 *** maximum relative sensitivity reached 2.64%/K(La_(3)Sb_(0.8)Ta_(0.2)O_(7):0.04Bi^(3+)@383 K)and 1.91%/K(La_(3)Sb_(0.75)Ta_(0.25)O_(7):0.04Bi^(3+)@388 K).This work reveals a rational design strategy of different local electronic states around the singledoping multiple emission centers towards practical applications,such as luminescence thermometry and white LED lighting.
