Ten nitrated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(nPAHs)and 4 oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(oPAHs)in fine particulate matter(PM2.5)samples from Mount Tai were analyzed during summer(June to August),*** the observation campaign,themean concentration of total nPAHs and oPAHs was 31.62 pg/m^(3)and 0.15 ng/m^(3),*** of the monitored compounds,namely 9-nitro-anthracene(9N-ANT)(6.86 pg/m^(3))and 9-fluorenone(9FO)(0.05 ng/m^(3))were the predominant compounds of nPAHs and oPAHs,*** potential source and long-range transportation of nPAHs and oPAHs were investigated by the positive matrix factorization(PMF)method and the potential source contribution function(PSCF)*** results revealed that biomass/coal burning,gasoline vehicle emission,diesel vehicle emission and secondary formation were the dominant sources of nPAHs and oPAHs,which were mainly from Henan province and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Bohai *** incremental life cancer risk(ILCR)values were calculated to evaluate the exposure risk of nPAHs and oPAHs for three group people(infant,children and adult),and the values of ILCR were 7.02×10^(−10),3.49×10^(−9)and 1.41×10^(−8)for infant,children and adults,*** these values were lower than the standard of EPA(environmental protection Agency)(<10−6),indicating acceptable health risk of nPAHs and oPAHs.

Combined pollution of 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis （4-chlorophenyl） ethane （DDT） and cadmium （Cd） in agricultural soils is of great concern because they present serious risk to food security and human *** order to develop a cost-effective and safe method for the removal of DDTs and Cd in soil,combined remediation of DDTs and Cd in soil by Sphingobacterium sp.D-6 and the hyperaccumulator,Sedum alfredii Hance was *** treatment for 210 days,the degradation half-lives of DDTs in soils treated by strain D-6 decreased by 8.1% to 68.0% compared with those in the *** inoculation of strain D-6 into soil decreased the uptake of DDTs by pak choi and *** shoots/roots ratios of *** for the Cd accumulation ranged from 12.32 to *** Cd concentration in soil decreased to 65.8%-71.8% for *** treatment and 14.1%-58.2% for *** and strain D-6 combined treatment,respectively,compared with that in the *** population size of the DDTs-degrading strain,Simpson index （1/D） and soil respiratory rate decreased in the early stage of treatment and then gradually increased,ultimately recovering to or exceeding the initial *** results indicated that synchronous incorporation of strain D-6 and *** into soil was found to significantly （p 0.05） enhance the degradation of DDTs in soil and the hyperaccumulation of Cd in *** was concluded that strain D-6 and *** could be used successfully to control DDTs and Cd in contaminated soil.

Objective To investigate oxidative DNA damage in pharmacy technicians preparing antineoplastic drugs at the PIVAS （Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service） in two Chinese hospitals. Methods Urinary 8-OHdG served as a biomarker. 5-Fluorouracil （5-FU） concentrations in air, masks and gloves were determined. The spill exposure of each PIVAS technician to antineoplastic drugs was investigated. Eighty subjects were divided into exposed group t, II, and control group I, II. Results 5-FU concentration ratios for gloves and masks in exposed group I were significantly higher than those in exposed group II （P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）. The average urinary 8-OHdG concentrations in exposed group I, control group I, exposed group II, and control group II were 24.69＋0.93, 20.68＋1.07, 20.57＋0.55, and 12.96_＋0.73 ng/mg Cr, respectively. Urinary 8-OHdG concentration in exposed group I was significantly higher than that in control group I or that in exposed group 11 （P〈0.02）. There was a significant correlation between urinary 8-OHdG concentrations and spill frequencies per technician （P〈0.01）. Conclusion There was detectable oxidative DNA damage in PIVAS technicians exposed to antineoplastic drugs. This oxidative DNA damage may be associated with their spill exposure experience and contamination of their personal protective equipment.

Numerical studies of stepwise radial fuel shuffling in a traveling wave reactor

The concept of travelling wave reactor(TWR)applies the mechanism of self-sustaining and propagating nuclear fission travelling waves in fertile media of 238U and 232Th to achieve very high fuel *** on this concept,a stepwise radial fuel shuffling strategy was proposed and applied to a sodium-cooled fast reactor(SFR)loading metallic 238U *** multi-group deterministic neutronic code ERANOS with JEFF3.1 data library was used as a basic tool to perform the neutronics and burnup *** inward fuel shuffling calculations were first performed in a 1-D cylindrical case for parametric understanding,and then extended to a 2-D R-Z *** shuffling calculations for the 1-D and 2-D SFR model yielded some interesting *** asymptotic keff varied parabolically with the characteristic fluence,while the burnup increased *** highest burnup achieved in 2-D case was 38%.The power peak shifted from the fuel outlet side(core centre)to the fuel inlet side(core periphery)in both 1-D and 2-D cases and the corresponding peaking factor decreased dramatically along with the characteristic *** present research demonstrated that the proposed stepwise radial fuel shuffling in the sodium fast reactor achieved the characteristics of the traveling wave reactor.

Objective To study the effects of environmental multi-media lead pollution on blood lead and sex hormone levels among lead exposed males engaged in E-waste dismantling, and the correlation between confounding factors and sex hormone levels. Methods An E-waste dismantling area in Taizhou of Zhejiang Province was selected as the research site. One hundred and fifty two samples were collected from the groundwater, soil, rice, corn, chicken, and pork in the dismantling area. The effects of the multi-media lead pollution on the male blood lead and sex hormone levels of FSH, LH, and T, as well as the correlation with confounding factors, were studied. Results The blood lead concentrations in the males aged under 31, from 31 to 45 and from 46 to 60 were 98.55, 100.23, and 101.45 I~/L, respectively. Of all the environmental media lead exposures, the groundwater, rice and soil were main contributing factors to the lead accumulation in humans. FSH and LH levels increased with the age while the T levels decreased with the age instead. There was a significant correlation between the FSH and LH levels and wearing masks. Conclusion There was correlation between the FSH, LH, and T levels, and the mean values of lead concentrations in environmental media, and the sex hormone levels were correlated with the confounding factor of wearing masks.

Although VB-group transition metal disulfides(TMDs)VS_(2)nanomaterials with specific electronic properties and multiphase microstructures have shown fascinating potential in the field of electro-magnetic wave(EMW)absorption,the efficient utilization of VS_(2)is limited by the technical bottleneck of its narrow effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)which is attributed to environmental instability and a deficient electromagnetic(EM)loss *** order to fully exploit the maximal utilization values of VS_(2)nanomaterials for EMW absorption through mitigating the chemical instability and optimizing the EM parameters,biomass-based glucose derived carbon(GDC)like sugar-coating has been decorated on the surface of stacked VS_(2)nanosheets via a facile hydrothermal method,followed by high-temperature *** a result,the modulation of doping amount of glucose injection solution(Glucose)could effectively manipulate the encapsulation degree of GDC coating on VS_(2)nanosheets,further imple-menting the EM response mechanisms of the VS_(2)/GDC hybrids(coupling effect of conductive loss,interfacial polarization,relaxation,dipole polarization,defect engineering and multiple reflections and absorptions)through regulating the conductivity and constructing multi-interface heterostructures,as reflected by the enhanced EMW absorption performance to a great *** minimum reflection loss(Rmin)of VS_(2)/GDC hybrids could reach52.8 dB with a thickness of 2.7 mm at 12.2 ***,compared with pristine VS_(2),the EAB of the VS_(2)/GDC hybrids increased from 2.0 to 5.7 GHz,while their environmental stability was effectively enhanced by virtue of GDC ***,this work provides a promising candidate to realize frequency band tunability of EMW absorbers with exceptional perfor-mance and environmental stability.

Soil nitrogen(N)transformation processes in the High Arctic tundra are poorly understood even though nitrogen is one of the main limiting *** analyzed soil samples collected along a High Arctic tundra transect to investigate spatial variability in key nitrogen transformation processes,functional gene abundances,ammonia-oxidizing archaea(AOA)community structures,and key nitrogen transformation *** potential denitrification rates were higher than the nitrification rates in the soil samples,although nitrification may still regulate N2O emissions from tundra *** nutrient(total carbon,total organic carbon,total nitrogen,and NH_(4)^(+)-N)contents were important determinants of spatial variability in the potential denitrification rates of soil along the tundra *** total sulfurcontent was the main variable controlling potential nitrification processes,probably in association with sulfate-reducing *** nitrate content was the main variable affecting potential dissimilatory nitrate reduction to *** and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria amoA,nirS,and anammox 16S rRNA genes were found in all of the soil *** play more important roles than ammonia-oxidizing bacteria in *** bacteria may utilize NO_(2)^(-)produced through *** analysis indicated that the AOA amoA sequences could be grouped into eight unique operational taxonomic units(OTUs)with a 97%sequence similarity and were affiliated with three group 1.1b *** results indicated that heterogeneous environmental factors(e.g.,the carbon and nitrogen contents of soil)along the High Arctic tundra transect strongly affected the nitrogen transformation rate and relevant functional gene abundances in soil.

Traditional recycling processes of LiCoO;2;rely on destructive decomposition, requiring high-temperature roasting or acid leaching to extract valuable Li and Co, which have significant environmental and economic concerns. Herein, a direct repairing method for degraded LiCoO;2;using a LiCl–CH;4;N;2;O deep eutectic solvent（DES） was established. The DES is not used to dissolve LiCoO;2;but directly serves as a carrier for the selective replenishment of lithium and cobalt. Replenishment of lithium restores LiCoO;2;at different states of charge to a capacity of 130 m Ah/g（at 0.1 C rate）, while replenishing the cobalt increases the capacity retention rate of 90% after 100 cycles, which is comparable to pristine LiCoO;2;. The DES is collected and reused multiple times with a high repair efficiency. This process reduces energy consumption by 37.1% and greenhouse gas emissions by 34.8% compared with the current production process of LiCoO;2;, demonstrating excellent environmental and economic viability.
