Small object detection on highways via balance feature fusion and task-specific encoding network

Detecting small objects on highways is a novel research topic. Due to the small pixel of objects on highways, traditional detectors have difficulty in capturing discriminative features. Additionally, the imbalance of feature fusion methods and the inconsistency between classification and regression tasks lead to poor detection performance on highways. In this paper, we propose a balance feature fusion and task-specific encoding network to address these issues. Specifically, we design a balance feature pyramid network(FPN) to integrate the importance of each layer of feature maps and construct long-range dependencies among them, thereby making the features more discriminative. In addition, we present task-specific decoupled head, which utilizes task-specific encoding to moderate the imbalance between the classification and regression tasks. As demonstrated by extensive experiments and visualizations, our method obtains outstanding detection performance on small object detection on highways(HSOD) dataset and AI-TOD dataset.

In the video captioning methods based on an encoder-decoder,limited visual features are extracted by an encoder,and a natural sentence of the video content is generated using a ***,this kind ofmethod is dependent on a single video input source and few visual labels,and there is a problem with semantic alignment between video contents and generated natural sentences,which are not suitable for accurately comprehending and describing the video *** address this issue,this paper proposes a video captioning method by semantic topic-guided ***,a 3D convolutional neural network is utilized to extract the spatiotemporal features of videos during the ***,the semantic topics of video data are extracted using the visual labels retrieved from similar video *** the decoding,a decoder is constructed by combining a novel Enhance-TopK sampling algorithm with a Generative Pre-trained Transformer-2 deep neural network,which decreases the influence of“deviation”in the semantic mapping process between videos and texts by jointly decoding a baseline and semantic topics of video *** this process,the designed Enhance-TopK sampling algorithm can alleviate a long-tail problem by dynamically adjusting the probability distribution of the predicted ***,the experiments are conducted on two publicly used Microsoft Research Video Description andMicrosoft Research-Video to Text *** experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms several state-of-art ***,the performance indicators Bilingual Evaluation Understudy,Metric for Evaluation of Translation with Explicit Ordering,Recall Oriented Understudy for Gisting Evaluation-longest common subsequence,and Consensus-based Image Description Evaluation of the proposed method are improved by 1.2%,0.1%,0.3%,and 2.4% on the Microsoft Research Video Description dataset,and 0.1%,1.0%,0.1%,and 2.8% on the Microsoft Research-Video to Text dataset

The structural transformation from a liquid into a crystalline solid is an important subject in condensed matter physics and materials science. In the present study, first-principles molecular dynamics calculations are performed to investigate the structure and properties of aluminum during the solidification which is induced by cooling and compression. In the cooling process and compression process, it is found that the icosahedral short-range order is initially enhanced and then begin to decay, the face-centered cubic short-range order eventually becomes dominant before it transforms into a crystalline solid.

pH-responsive charge reversal loaded miRNA nanocomposite was prepared by electrostatic *** morphology,particle size and zeta potential of the nanocomposites were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light *** synthesis of the polymer was analyzed by^(1)*** zeta-potential changes and cellular uptake effects of the nanocomplexes under different pH environments were *** experimental results show that the surface morphology of the nanocomposite is spherical,and the average particle size is about 135 *** the pH value of the solution gradually decreases,the surface charge of the nanocomposite reverses from negative charge to positive charge(from-9.4 to+17.1 mV).Cellular uptake mediated by pH-responsive nanocomposite is selective for tumor cells,and the cellular uptake effect in tumor cells at pH 6.5 was approximately 3 times higher than that at pH *** pH responsive charge reversal nanocomposite has promising application prospects for gene delivery in the weak acid environment of tumors.

Graphene prepared by non-covalent modification of sulfonated poly(ether-ether-ketone)(SPG)was combined with polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)/Al to improve the PVDF/Al thermal conductivity while reducing the effect of the thermal resistance at the graphene-polymer *** regulation rule of SPG with different contents on the energy release of fluorine-containing system was *** the content of SPG is 4%,the peak pressure and rise rate of SPG/PVDF/Al composite powder during ignition reach the maximum of 4845.28 kPa and 8683.58 kPa/*** the content of SPG is 5%,the PVDF/Al composite powder is completely coated by SPG,and the calorific value of the material reachs the maximum of 29.094 kJ/*** the design and micro-control of the composite powder,the calorific value of the material can be effectively improved,but the improvement of the mass release rate still depends on the graphene content and surface modification state.

With the booming development of fifth-generation network technology and Internet of Things,the number of end-user devices(EDs)and diverse applications is surging,resulting in massive data generated at the edge of *** process these data eficiently,the innovative mobile edge computing(MEC)framework has emerged to guarantee low latency and enable eficient computing close to the user ***,federated learning(FL)has demonstrated its empirical success in edge computing due to its privacy-preserving ***,it becomes a promising solution for analyzing and processing distributed data on EDs in various machine learning tasks,which are the major workloads in ***,EDs are typically powered by batteries with limited capacity,which brings challenges when performing energy-intensive FL *** address these challenges,many strategies have been proposed to save energy in *** the absence of a survey that thoroughly summarizes and classifies these strategies,in this paper,we provide a comprehensive survey of recent advances in energy-efficient strategies for FL in ***,we first introduce the system model and energy consumption models in FL,in terms of computation and *** we analyze the challenges regarding improving energy efficiency and summarize the energy-efficient strategies from three perspectives:learning-based,resource allocation,and client *** conduct a detailed analysis of these strategies,comparing their advantages and ***,we visually illustrate the impact of these strategies on the performance of FL by showcasing experimental ***,several potential future research directions for energy-efficient FL are discussed.

Small tracking error correction for electro-optical systems is essential to improve the tracking precision of future mechanical and defense *** threats,such as“low,slow,and small(LSS)”moving targets,pose increasing challenges to *** core goal of this work is to address the issues,such as small tracking error correction and aiming control,of electro-optical detection systems by using mechatronics drive modeling,composite velocity–image stability control,and improved interpolation filter design.A tracking controller delay prediction method for moving targets is proposed based on the Euler transformation model of a two-axis,two-gimbal cantilever beam coaxial *** tracking error formation is analyzed in detail to reveal the scientific mechanism of composite control between the tracking controller’s feedback and the motor’s velocity–stability *** improved segmental interpolation filtering algorithm is established by combining line of sight(LOS)position correction and multivariable typical tracking fault ***,a platform with 2 degrees of freedom is used to test the *** LSS moving target shooting object with a tracking distance of S=100 m,target board area of A=1 m^(2),and target linear velocity of v=5 m/s is *** show that the optimal method’s distribution probability of the tracking error in a circle with a radius of 1 mrad is 66.7%,and that of the traditional method is 41.6%.Compared with the LOS shooting accuracy of the traditional method,the LOS shooting accuracy of the optimized method is improved by 37.6%.

Nowadays,with the rapid development of industrial Internet technology,on the one hand,advanced industrial control systems(ICS)have improved industrial production ***,there are more and more cyber-attacks targeting industrial control *** ensure the security of industrial networks,intrusion detection systems have been widely used in industrial control systems,and deep neural networks have always been an effective method for identifying cyber *** intrusion detection methods still suffer from low accuracy and a high false alarm ***,it is important to build a more efficient intrusion detection *** paper proposes a hybrid deep learning intrusion detection method based on convolutional neural networks and bidirectional long short-term memory neural networks(CNN-BiLSTM).To address the issue of imbalanced data within the dataset and improve the model’s detection capabilities,the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique-Edited Nearest Neighbors(SMOTE-ENN)algorithm is applied in the preprocessing *** algorithm is employed to generate synthetic instances for the minority class,simultaneously mitigating the impact of noise in the majority *** approach aims to create a more equitable distribution of classes,thereby enhancing the model’s ability to effectively identify patterns in both minority and majority *** the experimental phase,the detection performance of the method is verified using two data *** results show that the accuracy rate on the CICIDS-2017 data set reaches 97.7%.On the natural gas pipeline dataset collected by Lan Turnipseed from Mississippi State university in the United States,the accuracy rate also reaches 85.5%.

Influence of cerium and yttrium addition on strength and electrical conductivity of pure aluminum alloys

To develop pure aluminum alloys with high conductivity and strength, Al-0.2Ce and Al-0.2Ce-0.1Y alloys were prepared by rolling and annealing processes in this study. The effects of trace rare earth elements on the strength and electrical conductivity of the pure aluminum alloys were investigated. It is revealed that the addition of Ce and Y to pure aluminum can effectively enhance the strength and electrical conductivity of the alloys. In Al-0.2Ce, the addition of Ce can effectively refine the grain size of a-Al, with an average grain size of 90.68 μm in the as-cast state. The grain size of the alloy is further reduced to 87.55 μm by the simultaneous addition of Y. The synergistic addition of Ce and Y changes the properties of the alloy. The addition of Ce and Y also produces the Al_(11)Ce_(3) and Al_(3)Y second phases, which have coherent relationship with a-Al. The two-dimensional mismatch degree was calculated to be only 4.43%and 0.85%, respectively, which can provide a certain amount of nucleation substrate for a-Al in the incubation stage. The interfacial match between the L1_(2)structure of Al_(3)Y and a-Al was calculated using first-principles simulations. The results indicate that Al_(3)Y has a strong bonding effect with a-Al. Nanoscale second phases at grain boundaries can be effective in reducing resistivity due to dislocation *** second phases with better matching interfaces to the substrate have no positive effect on the scattering motion of electrons.
