A unusual flavone glycoside named Shamimarin(1) and a new compound Acetoxy-8-methyl-chromen-2H-one(2) were isolated from aerial parts of Rhododendron lepidotum *** with four known coumarins daphnin(3),daphnetin 8-O-β-D-glucopyrano-side (4),daphnetin(5) and umbelliferone(6).The structural elucidations were based on analyses of chemical and spectroscopic data by including ID and 2D NMR analyses.

Prediction of CO2 Solubility in Polymers by Radial Basis Function Artificial Neural Network Based on Chaotic Self-adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization and Fuzzy Clustering Method

To replace costly and time-consuming experimentation in laboratory, a novel solubility prediction model based on chaos theory, self-adaptive particle swarm optimization （PSO）, fuzzy c-means clustering method, and radial ba- sis function artificial neural network （RBF ANN） is proposed to predict CO2 solubility in polymers, hereafter called CSPSO-FC RBF ANN. The premature convergence problem is overcome by modifying the conventional PSO using chaos theory and self-adaptive inertia weight factor. Fuzzy c-means clustering method is used to tune the hidden centers and radial basis function spreads. The modified PSO algorithm is employed to optimize the RBF ANN connection weights. Then, the proposed CSPSO-FC RBF ANN is used to investigate solubility of CO2 in polystyrene （PS）, polypropylene （PP）, poly（butylene succinate）（PBS） and poly（butylene succinate-co-adipate）（PBSA）, respec- tively. Results indicate that CSPSO-FC RBF ANN is an effective method for gas solubility in polymers. In addition, compared with conventional RBF ANN and PSO ANN, CSPSO-FC RBF ANN shows better performance. The values of average relative deviation （ARD）, squared correlation coefficient （R2） and standard deviation （SD） are 0.1071, 0.9973 and 0.0108, respectively. Statistical data demonstrate that CSPSO-FC RBF ANN has excellent prediction capability and high-accuracy, and the correlation between prediction values and experimental data is good.

Some studies document that odorants influence in sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, and neurophysiological brain activity. Odors compounds can act on the neuroendocrine system, neurotransmitters and neuromodulators, influencing psychological behavior as well as body function. The study was conducted in 20 individuals in each test to analyze the effects of essential oil inhalation on psychomotor performance in the healthy volunteers. Two tests were performed in the present study （1） SLCT （six letter cancellation test） and （2） DLST （digit letter substitution test）. These tests were carded out for the assessment of psychopharmacological activity of essential oil of Rosa damascena Mill., in healthy young human individuals belonging to the age group 18 to 22 years. The results of the psychomotor performance test in healthy human individuals revealed that there was improvement in psychomotor functions.

AIM:To evaluate the therapeutic uses of Achillea millifolium in diabetic ***:Diabetes was induced bysingle intraperitoneal injection of freshly prepared solution of alloxan monohydrate(150 mg·kg.1 body weight) in Wistar rats of150.200 g body *** this study,the aqueous and methanolic extract of Achillea millifolium was studied for its hypoglycemic andhypolipidemic *** rats were divided into several groups,serving as Normal group,Diabetic Control group,Diabetictreated with glibenclamide,and extract treated *** blood serum collected from the various groups of rats was analysed for itsvarious biochemical parameters like glucose,cholesterol,triglycerides,VLDL,SGOT,SGPT and *** the 14th day of the experimentthe rats were scarified and pancreas was collected for histopathological ***:The extracts at dose levels of 250and 500 mg·kg.1 body weight showed significant(P ≤ 0.05) decrease in blood glucose level,TGL,VLDL,cholesterol,SGOT,SGPT,and ALP in diabetic *** extracts prevented the β-cells of pancreas from the cytotoxic effects of Alloxan ***:The results indicate that the extracts as mentioned above are effective in hyperglycemia and can effectively protectagainst other metabolic aberrations caused by alloxan monohydrate.

There is a growing interest in traditional uses of plants for health care among different communities especially in the developing countries. Kashmir valley is a temperate agro-climatic zone of north-west temperate Himalayan region of India and is blessed with a diverse variety of medicinal flora. The traditional uses of plants against parasitic infections in human beings and their live-stock is a common practice in the valley as most of the populations are rural and conventional veterinary drugs are very expensive and therefore unaffordable. This study is an ethno-botanical survey of those plant species traditionally used as anthelmintic that may warrant scientific validation for efficacy. The survey utilized well structured questionnaire and detailed discussions and recorded 44 plant species belonging to 37 genera and 26 families claimed as traditional anthelmintics in different preparations and forms. Out of these some plant species like Artemisia absinthium (tethwen) and Achillea millifolium (pahel-ghassa) were scientifically validated for their claimed anthelmintic action against gastrointestinal nematode infections in sheep. A few of other plants like Allium sativum (rohun), Myrsine africana have been scientifically validated for their claim by other people in various parts of the world. These plants together with other species reported in this study could be further scientifically evaluated for in vitro and in vivo anthelmintic activity against a diverse variety of parasitic groups in host and non host animals. That will lay a foundation and set a targeted platform for pharmacological studies and development of novel anthelmintic products to fill a gap in the anthelmintic drug industry, which is facing the crisis of anthelmintic resistance to conventional anthelmintic drugs.
