It is largely unknown whether lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)or acute retention of urine(AROU)is linked to shorter life expectancy in *** conducted a multicenter,retrospective database analysis of patients undergoing transurethral resection of prostate(TURP)to study their *** Cox regression analysis and Kaplan-Meier analysis with stratification to age and indication of TURP were *** further performed an age-and sex-matched survival analysis with the general population using data from the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(Hong Kong,China).From January 2002 to December 2012,3496 patients undergoing TURP were included in our study,with 1764 patients in the LUTS group and 1732 patients in the AROU *** age,ischemic heart disease,cerebrovascular accident,and AROU were risk factors of *** aged80 *** to the general population,younger patients in the LUTS group appeared to have better survival(80 years,survival was similar with the general population in both the LUTS and AROU *** conclusion,AROU at young age was associated with mortality,while early detection and management of LUTS may improve survival.

1,4-Bis(Imidazol-1-yl)butane was used to modify SBA-15, SBA-15prImCl was ***-15 prImCCl and SBA-15prImCCl were obtained by extending the length of alkyl chain. These adsorbents were characterized by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, infrared spectra, thermogravimetric analysis, elemental analysis, BET analysis, HNMR, and X-ray diffraction, which indicated the validity of preparation methods and operation. The effects of physico-chemical parameters such as initial concentrations, adsorbent dosage, temperature, contact time, solution p H and inorganic anions on adsorption of 2,4-dinitrophenol were investigated in detail. High-energy diets and lipid metabolism can lead to high levels of total cholesterol,a decrease in antioxidant,enzyme activity,and an increase in oxidative stress and dyslipidemia *** this study,the in vivo antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant effects of 1,3-dioleoyl-2-palmitoyl triglyceride(OPO)using a high fat-diet model were *** mice were divided into groups including high-fat model group(HF),auxiliary group(AG),positive Control group(PC),low OPO dose group(LO),medium OPO dose group(MO)and high *** was administrated to 60 hyperlipidemia induced male Kunming mice at the dosage of 200,400 and 800 mg/kg•d body weight,for 35 *** results showed that the administration of OPO decreased the body weight from 43.92 g in HF to 37.74 g in HO group,liver index from 3.94%in HF to 3.43 in HO group and kidney index from 1.38 in HF%to 1.17%in HO *** administration of OPO significantly decreased hyperlipidemia mice's serum triglyceride,total cholesterol,and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels at P<***-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were increased with reductions of visceral hypertrophy and fat accumulation in model ***,in the HO group,superoxide dismutase,catalase and glutathione peroxidase levels increased significantly by 27.39,38.33 and 22.90%at(P<0.05),*** also significantly reduced the enzyme activity of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase in serum at P<*** findings suggested that OPO has potential use in hyperlipidemia treatment and other health-related complications.

Background and Aims:The clinicopathological features and long-term outcomes of patients with vanishing bile duct syndrome(VBDS)have yet to be *** study aims to investigate these features and identify factors associated with poor ***:This multicenter retrospective study recruited patients with liver biopsy-proven VBDS who were followed up at five hospitals in northern China from January 2003 to April *** and pathological data at time of biopsy were *** outcomes including cirrhosis,decompensation events,liver transplantation(LT),and liver-related death were *** regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors associated with poor ***:A total of 183 patients were *** median age was 47 years,with 77.6%being *** a median follow-up of 4.8 years,88 patients developed compensated or decompensated cirrhosis,27 died,and 15 received *** Cox regression analysis showed that hepatocellular cholestasis(HR 2.953,95%CI:1.437–6.069),foam cells(HR 2.349,95%CI:1.092–5.053),and advanced fibrosis(HR 2.524,95%CI:1.313–4.851)were independent predictors of LT or liver-related deaths.A nomogram formulated with the above factors showed good consistency with a concordance index of 0.746(95%CI:0.706–0.785).Conclusions:Nearly half of VBDS patients studied progressed to end-stage liver disease and 23%of them had LT or liver-related death within two years of *** cholestasis,foam cells and advanced fibrosis rather than the degree of bile duct loss or underlying etiologies were independently associated with poor prognosis in VBDS patients.

Background Asthma is a significant chronic health problem worldwide. Management aims at disease control by reducing functional impairment and exacerbations and improving quality of life (QoL). We report a multi-center study to survey asthma control and QoL in four cities in the Pearl River Delta. Methods The conjoint survey involved ten Hong Kong pediatric hospitals/units, two Shenzhen hospitals, two Macao hos-pitals, and two Guangzhou hospitals on asthma control (using Asthma Control Test) and QoL (Pediatric Allergic Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire, PADQLQ). Acceptability of a treatment is graded as very good/good/fair/poor. Results Good asthma control was only reported in 80% subjects in Hong Kong, but higher in sister cities (85–94%, P<0.001). Allergic rhinitis, 'incense burning', and 'smoker in family' were prevalent among the four cities. Logistic regres-sion showed better control of asthma was associated with better PADQLQ (B=?0.029, P < 0.001), better acceptability of bronchodilator (B=?1.488, P = 0.025), negatively with 'smoker in family' (B=?0.83, P = 0.015) and various PADQLQ domains. Conversely, worse PADQLQ was associated with allergic rhinitis severity (B=4.77, P <0.001), poor control of asthma (B=7.56, P <0.001), increased frequency of traditional Chinese medicine use (B=1.7, P < 0.05), increased fre-quency of bronchodilator usage (B=1.05, P < 0.05), 'smoker in family' (B=4.05, P < 0.05), and incense burning at home (B=3.9, P < 0.05). Conclusions There are some clinical and cultural differences among the four southern Chinese cities within the Guangdong province. This study identifies potentially modifiable environmental and treatment factors associated with poor asthma control and QoL for health-care interventions. Having a smoker in the family is independently associated with poor asthma control and QoL.
