Desertification and Re-Afforestation of the Coastal Land in Changjiang County,hainan Island

Changjiang County is located to the northwest of the tailing range of the Wuzhi Mountains on hainan Island, facing the sea and being against the Mountains. From southeast to northwest, it gradually descends in relief from mountain, hill, tableland, terrace to coastal plain. Its sandy coastal line is measured at 44.85 km in length and its rocky coastal line at 7.15 km along the county. The desertified coastal land covers an area of about 61.15 km2, ex tending from hundreds of meters to 3 km in width, of which the active sand land accounts for 5. 333 km2 and the semi-active sand land, 7. 333 km2. The dunes are developed at the rate of 10 - 30 m per year from the seashore toward the *** Forest Departments of hainan Province and Changjiang County have done a series of sand-control experiments. The chief technological measures are as follows: (1) to stabilize the drift sand first to create an adequate condition for afforestation; (2) to plant the big and strong saplings of Casuarin equisetifolia with nutrient bags in deep pits; and (3) to apply new tech niques in 'dry-season planting' to guarantee the quality of afforestation. The above experi ments were successful. However, there still exist some problems such as quite seriously wilting shoot, lower survival rate of Pandanus tectorius in the vertical lines to the usual wind direc tion, monotonous tree species in afforestation and subsequent poor management. Thus some suggestions are offered in this paper for future extension: ( 1 ) to apply REE fertilizers in the process of afforestation to increase the resistance of the plants; (2) to increase the vertical lines of Pandanus tectorius to the usual wind direction to raise their survival rate in the network of sand stabilization; (3) to enlarge the area of liana planting to enhance the stability of sand; (4)to try to introduce new tree species from other regions, which are of good performance in sand stabilization; (5) to interplant the adaptable economic crops

UAV target tracking algorithm based on task allocation consensus

In order to adapt to the changes in the states of moving targets and meet the requirements of quality of service in communication among unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the UAVs formation needs to dynamically adjust tracking tasks and tracking paths, when they carry out a mission of tracking multiple moving targets. A multi-targets tracking algorithm based on task allocation consensus is proposed for UAVs to track multiple moving targets under the distributed control architecture in the limited communication range. This algorithm creates a distributed dynamic task allocation model using intermittent asynchronous communication principle to realize the sharing of observation information gathered by each UAV with fewer communications. In addition, this algorithm also makes it possible that multi-UAVs can plan tracking paths for multiple moving targets. We implement the algorithm on the formation with three UAVs to track three moving targets through simulation. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2016 Beijing institute of Aerospace Information.

Trends of the sunshine duration and diffuse radiation percentage on sunny days in urban agglomerations of China during 1960–2005

The long-term observational data of sunshine duration（SD） and diffuse radiation percentage（defined as diffuse solar radiation/total solar radiation, DRP） on sunny days during 1960–2005 were analyzed in 7 urban agglomerations and the whole of China. The results show that the sunny sunshine duration（SSD） has decreased significantly except at a few stations over northwestern China in the past 46 years. An obvious decrease of the SSD is found in eastern China, with the trend coefficients lower than-0.8. Accompanied by the SSD decline, the sunny diffuse radiation percentage（SDRP） in most stations shows obvious increasing trends during the 46 years. The averaged SDRP over China has increased 2.33%per decade, while the averaged SSD shows a decrease of-0.13 hr/day per decade. The correlation coefficient between SDRP and SSD is-0.88. SSD decreased over urban agglomerations（small to large city clusters） in the past 46 years, especially in large cities and medium cities, due to the strong anthropogenic activities and air pollution represented by aerosol option depth（AOD） and tropospheric column NO2（Tro NO2）. On the regional scale, SSD has an opposite trend from SDRP during 1960 to 2005, and the variation trends of regional mean values of SSD and SDRP in southeastern China are more pronounced than those in northwestern China.

Effect of Salinity on the Survival, Ions and Urea Modulation in Red-eared Slider(Trachemys scripta elegans)

To understand the tolerance to salinity and osmoregulation of the introduced Trachemys scripta elegans, the salinity stress of four groups （salinity 5‰, 15‰, 25‰ and control group） were conducted. Inorganic ions, osmotic pressure, glucose and aldosterone of blood and urine in T. s. elegans （BW： 125.60 ±19.84 g） were analyzed at 30 d, 60 d and 90 d stress. The results showed that： 1） inorganic ions concentration of blood and urine increased with ambient salinity, which indicated that high influx of ions was combined with higher outflow when exposed to saline water in T. s. elegans. However, blood aldosterone decreased with increasing salinity, which indicated that an increased sodium intake resulting in a diminished aldosterone production. However, with elapsed time, inorganic ions in urine decreased, which indicated that inorganic ions in blood would be accumulated, and Na^＋ and Cl^- in the plasma inevitably build up to harmful levels, at last death was happening when T. s. elegans was exposed to salinity 25 during 90 d salinity stress; 2） blood osmotic pressure increased as ambient salinity increased, it would reach 400 mOsm/kg in the group of salinity 25, which was about 1.5 fold of the control group. Higher blood osmotic pressure was due to both higher blood ions and urea concentrations. There may be another mechanism to avoid an excess of NaCl together with an important loss of water using one of the end-products of nitrogen metabolism; 3） blood glucose in each group except the group of salinity 5 decreased with time elapsed and with salinity increased. Therefore, we can conclude that T. s. elegans is an osmoregulator that limits the entry of Na^＋ and Cl^-, but can also tolerate certain degrees of increases in plasma Na^＋ and Cl^-. When ambient salinity was lower than 15‰, T. s. elegans can increase blood osmotic pressure by balancing the entry of NaCl with the secretion of aldosterone decreased, and by accumulating blood urea for osmoregulation effectors, and s

The population of the green sea turtle(Chelonia mydas)is under decline,threatened by bycatch and illegal acquisition despite worldwide protection ***,the confiscation of illegally acquired sea turtles could aid in tracking their origin and movement patterns,crucial for effective conservation *** satellite tracking and genetic analysis offers an opportunity to investigate the relationship between the origins and migration directions of green sea turtles in the western ***,we applied two methods to investigate the spatial ecology of 18 green turtles caught as bycatch in the South China *** results revealed the genetic origins and diverse movements of the *** Mixed Stock Analysis(MSA)suggested that these turtles originated from the rookery of the Xisha Islands(49.6%),central Ryukyu(24.6%),NE Borneo(8%),and the Sulu Sea(5.2%),with other rookeries in meagre proportions(<2%each).Satellite tracking showed the ranges of their travel were smaller than the whole contributed rookery range,but *** haplotype diversity of these turtles is high,and CmP19 stands out as both the most frequent and the most diverse haplotype in terms of swimming *** results indicate that the South China Sea is likely an important transportation hub and mating spot for green *** findings provided evidence for the rehabilitation of these green turtles in the wild and illustrated the complexity of movement during the green turtle’s life history,and the“mixed backgrounds”of the green turtles also highlight the need for joint conservation efforts of neighbouring countries in the South China Sea.

Seasonal variation of the shape and location of the Luzon cold eddy

Using observational data from multiple satellites,we studied seasonal variations of the shape and location of the Luzon cold eddy(LCE)northwest of Luzon *** shape and location of the LCE have obvious seasonal *** LCE occurs,develops,and disappears from December to April of the next *** this period,the shape of the LCE changed from a flat ellipse to a circular ellipse,and the change in shape can be reflected by the increase of the ellipticity of the LCE from 0.16 to *** latitude of center location of the LCE changes from 17.4°N to 19°N,and the change in latitude can reach 1.6°.Further study showed that seasonal variation of the northeast monsoon intensity leads to the change in the shape and location of the *** seasonal variation of the LCE shape can significantly alter the spatial distribution of the thermal front and chlorophyll a northwest of the Luzon Island by geostrophic advection.

Preliminary genetic linkage map of the abalone Haliotis diversicolor Reeve

Haliotis diversicolor Reeve is one of the most important mollusks cultured in South China. Preliminary genetic linkage maps were constructed with amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers. A total of 2 596 AFLP markers were obtained from 28 primer combinations in two parents and 78 offsprings. Among them, 412 markers (15.9%) were polymorphic and segregated in the mapping family. Chi-square tests showed that 151 (84.4%) markers segregated according to the expected 1:1 Mendelian ratio (P<0.05) in the female parent, and 200 (85.8%) in the male parent. For the female map, 179 markers were used for linkage analysis and 90 markers were assigned to 17 linkage groups with an average interval length of 25.7 cm. For the male map, 233 markers were used and 94 were mapped into 18 linkage groups, with an average interval of 25.0 cm. The estimated genome length was 2 773.0 cm for the female and 2 817.1 cm for the male map. The observed length of the linkage map was 1 875.2 cm and 1 896.5 cm for the female and male maps, respectively. When doublets were considered, the map length increased to 2 152.8 cm for the female and 2 032.7 cm for the male map, corresponding to genome coverage of 77.6% and 72.2%, respectively.
