This paper aims to enhance the compression capacity of underwater cylindrical shells by adopting the corrugated sandwich structure of *** cuttlebone suffers uniaxial external compression,while underwater cylindrical shells are in a biaxial compressive stress *** suit the biaxial compressive stress state,a novel bidirectional corrugated sandwich structure is proposed to improve the bearing capacity of cylindrical *** static and buckling analysis for the sandwich shell and the unstiffened cylindrical shell with the same volume-weight ratio are studied by numerical *** is indicated that the proposed sandwich shell can effectively reduce the ratio between circumferential and axial stress from 2 to 1.25 and improve the critical buckling load by about 1.63 *** simulation shows that optimizing and adjusting the structural parameters could significantly improve the advantage of the sandwich ***,the hydrostatic pressure tests for shell models fabricated by 3D printing are carried *** to the experimental results,the overall failure position of the sandwich shell is at the center part of the sandwich *** has been found the average critical load of the proposed sandwich shell models exceeds two times that of the unstiffened shell ***,the proposed bio-inspired bidirectional corrugated sandwich structure can significantly enhance the pressure resistance capability of cylindrical shells.

Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)have emerged as integral gene-expression regulators underlying plant growth,development,and *** adapt to the heterogeneous and dynamic rhizosphere,plants use interconnected regulatory mechanisms to optimally fine-tune gene-expression-governing interactions with soil biota,as well as nutrient acquisition and heavy metal ***,high-throughput sequencing has enabled the identification of plant lncRNAs responsive to rhizosphere biotic and abiotic ***,we examine lncRNA biogenesis,classification,and mode of action,highlighting the functions of lncRNAs in mediating plant adaptation to diverse rhizosphere *** then discuss studies that reveal the significance and target genes of lncRNAs during developmental plasticity and stress responses at the rhizobium interface.A comprehensive understanding of specific lncRNAs,their regulatory targets,and the intricacies of their functional interaction networks will provide crucial insights into how these transcriptomic switches fine-tune responses to shifting rhizosphere *** ahead,we foresee that single-cell dissection of cell-type-specific lncRNA regulatory dynamics will enhance our understanding of the precise developmental modulation mechanisms that enable plant rhizosphere *** future challenges through multi-omics and genetic approaches will more fully reveal the integral roles of lncRNAs in governing plant adaptation to the belowground environment.

Background The reliance on a solitary linear reference genome has imposed a significant constraint on our compre-hensive understanding of genetic variation in *** constraint is particularly pronounced for non-reference sequences(NRSs),which have not been extensively *** In this study,we constructed a pig pangenome graph using 21 pig assemblies and identified 23,831 NRSs with a total length of 105 *** findings revealed that NRSs were more prevalent in breeds exhibiting greater genetic divergence from the reference ***,we observed that NRSs were rarely found within coding sequences,while NRS insertions were enriched in immune-related Gene Ontology ***,our investigation also unveiled a close association between novel genes and the immune capacity of *** observed substantial differences in terms of frequencies of NRSs between Eastern and Western pigs,and the heat-resistant pigs exhibited a substantial number of NRS insertions in an 11.6 Mb interval on chromosome ***,we discovered a 665 bp insertion in the fourth intron of the TNFRSF19 gene that may be associated with the ability of heat tolerance in South-ern Chinese *** Our findings demonstrate the potential of a graph genome approach to reveal important functional features of NRSs in pig populations.

We studied sexual dimorphism in body size and shape and female reproductive characteristics in the hainan Water Skink(Tropidophorus hainanus)from hainan,South *** our sample the largest female and male were 61.1 and 55.2 mm snout-vent length(SVL),*** mean SVL was larger in adult females(52.0 mm)than in adult males(48.3 mm).Juveniles were sexually dimorphic in head length but not in other examined morphological *** males were longer in head length and shorter in abdomen length and fore-limb length than adult females of the same *** shifts in sexual dimorphism in body shape were evident,as revealed by the fact that morphological differences between the sexes were more pronounced in adults than in *** produced a single litter of 3–6 offspring per season from early August to early *** size,litter mass and offspring(neonate)mass were positively related to female *** mass was independent of relative *** the above findings we draw three main ***,females are the larger sex in ***,and sexual dimorphism in body shape is more pronounced in adults than in ***,larger female *** produce more and larger offspring and thus heavier litters than smaller ***,the offspring size-number trade-off does is not evident in ***.

Cotton has enormous economic potential,providing high-quality protein,oil,and *** the comprehensive utilization of cottonseed is limited by the presence of pigment gland and its *** gland is a common characteristic of Gossypium genus and its relatives,appearing as visible dark opaque dots in most tissues and organs of cotton *** metabolites,such as gossypol,synthesized and stored in the cavities of pigment glands act as natural phytoalexins,but are toxic to humans and other monogastric ***,only a few cotton genes have been identified as being associated with pigment gland morphogenesis to date,and the developmental processes and regulatory mechanism involved in pigment gland formation remain largely ***,the research progress on the process of pigment gland morphogenesis and the genetic basis of cotton pigment glands is reviewed,for providing a theoretical basis for cultivating cotton with the ideal pigment gland trait.

Seeds play a crucial role in plant reproduction,making it essential to identify genes that affect seed devel*** this study,we focused on UDP-glucosyltransferase 71C4(UGT71C4)in cotton,a member of the glycosyltransferase family that shapes seed width and length,thereby influencing seed index and seed cotton *** of UGT71C4 results in seed enlargement owing to its glycosyltransferase activity on flavonoids,which redirects metabolic flux from lignin to flavonoid *** shift promotes cell proliferation in the ovule via accumulation of flavonoid glycosides,significantly enhancing seed cotton yield and increasing the seed index from 10.66 g to 11.91 *** contrast,knockout of UGT71C4 leads to smaller seeds through activation of the lignin metabolism pathway and redirection of metabolic flux back to lignin *** redirection leads to increased ectopic lignin deposition in the ovule,inhibiting ovule growth and development,and alters yield components,increasing the lint percentage from 41.42%to 43.40%and reducing the seed index from 10.66 g to 8.60 *** research sheds new light on seed size development and reveals potential pathways for enhancing seed yield.

In applications such as marine rescue,marine science,archaeology,and offshore industries,autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs)are frequently used for survey missions and monitoring tasks,with most operations being performed by manned submersibles or remotely operated vehicles(ROVs)equipped with robotic arms,as they can be operated remotely for days without ***,they require expensive marine vessels and specialist pilots to operate *** exploring oceans are no longer satisfied with the use of manned submersibles and *** is a growing desire for seabed exploration to be performed using smarter,more flexible,and automated *** improving the field operation and intervention capability of AUVs,large-scale and long-range seafloor exploration and sampling can be performed without the support of a mother ship,making it a more effective,economical,convenient,and rapid means of seafloor exploration and sampling operations,and playing a critical role in marine resource *** this study,we explored the integration technology of underwater electric robotic arms and AUVs and designed a new set of electric manipulators suitable for water depths greater than 500 *** reliability of the key components was analyzed by finite element analysis and,based on the theory of robot kinematics and dynamics,simulations were performed to verify the reliability of the key *** were conducted on land and underwater,trajectory tracking experiments were completed,and the experimental data in air and water were compared and ***,the objectives for further research on the autonomous control of the manipulator underwater were proposed.

Silver-copper electrocatalysts have demonstrated effectively catalytic performance in electroreduction CO_(2) toward CH_(4),yet a revealing insight into the reaction pathway and mechanism has remained ***,we construct chemically bonded Ag-Cu_(2)O boundaries,in which the complete reduction of Cu_(2)O to Cu has been strongly impeded owing to the presence of surface Ag *** interfacial confinement effect helps to maintain Cu^(+)sites at the Ag-Cu_(2)O *** in situ/operando spectroscopy and theoretical simulations,it is revealed that CO_(2) is enriched at the Ag-Cu_(2)O boundaries due to the enhanced physisorption and chemisorption to CO_(2),activating CO_(2) to form the stable intermediate^(*)*** boundaries between Ag shell and the Cu_(2)O mediate local^(*)CO coverage and promote^(*)CHO intermediate formation,consequently facilitating CO_(2)-to-CH_(4) *** work not only reveals the structure-activity relationships but also offers insights into the reaction mechanism on Ag-Cu catalysts for efficient electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction.

Pectin is a major constituent of the plant cell *** lyase(PEL,EC 4.***.2.2)uses anti-β-elimination chemistry to cleave theα-1,4 glycosidic linkage in the homogalacturonan region of ***,limited information is available on the comprehensive and evolutionary analysis of PELs in the *** this study,we identified 597PEL genes from 10 Malvaceae *** and motif analyses revealed that these PELs are classified into six subfamilies:Clades I,II,III,IV,Va,and *** two largest subfamilies,Clades I and II,contained 237 and222 PEL members,*** members of Clades Va and Vb only contained four or five motifs,far fewer than the other *** duplication analysis showed that segmental duplication played a crucial role in the expansion of the PEL gene family in Gossypium *** PELs from Clades I,IV,Va,and Vb were expressed during the fiber elongation stage,but nearly all PEL genes from Clades II and III showed no expression in any of the investigated fiber developmental *** further performed single-gene haplotype association analysis in 2,*** accessions and 229 *** ***,14 PELs were significantly associated with fiber length and strength traits in *** with superior fiber quality,while only eight GhPEL genes were found to be significantly associated with fiber quality traits in *** findings provide important information for further evolutionary and functional research on the PEL gene family members and their potential use for fiber quality improvement in cotton.
