Herb-partitioned moxibustion alleviates colon injuries in ulcerative colitis rats

Muscovite nanoparticles mitigate neuropathic pain by modulating the inflammatory response and neuroglial activation in the spinal cord

Despite numerous efforts to overcome neuropathic pain,various pharmacological drugs often fail to meet the needs and have many side *** is an aluminosilicate mineral that has been reported to have an anti-inflammatory effect,but the efficacy of muscovite for neuropathic pain has not been ***,we assessed whether muscovite nanoparticles can reduce the symptoms of pain by controlling the inflammatory process observed in neuropathic *** analgesic effects of muscovite nanoparticles were explored using partial sciatic nerve ligation model of neuropathic pain,in which one-third to onehalf of the nerve trifurcation of the sciatic nerve was tightly tied to the dorsal *** nanoparticles(4 mg/100μL)was given intramuscularly to evaluate its effects on neuropathic pain(3 days per week for 4 weeks).The results showed that the muscovite nanoparticle injections significantly alleviated partial sciatic nerve ligation-induced mechanical and cold *** the spinal cord,the muscovite nanoparticle injections exhibited inhibitory effects on astrocyte and microglia activation and reduced the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines,such as interleukin-1β,tumor necrosis factor-α,interleiukin-6 and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,which were upregulated in the partial sciatic nerve ligation ***,the muscovite nanoparticle injections resulted in a decrease in activating transcription factor 3,a neuronal injury marker,in the sciatic *** results suggest that the analgesic effects of muscovite nanoparticle on partial sciatic nerve ligation-induced neuropathic pain may result from inhibiting activation of astrocytes and microglia as well as pro-inflammatory *** propose that muscovite nanoparticle is a potential anti-nociceptive candidate for neuropathic *** experimental protocols in this study were approved by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee(IACUC)at Dongguk University,South Korea(approval No.2017-022-1)

OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of herb-partitioned moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture on polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)in patients with symptom pattern of kidney deficiency and ***:Totally 62 PCOS patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into intervention group and control *** the intervention group,acupoints were subjected to(43±1)℃herb-partitioned moxibustion and electroacupuncture *** the control group,acupoints were subjected to(37±1)℃herb-partitioned moxibustion and sham electroacupuncture *** was provided 3 times per week for 12 weeks,and the treatment was stopped during *** the treatment,the clinical efficacy,the Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom pattern score,basal body temperature(BBT)levels,menstrual cycle,and related sex hormone levels of the two groups were ***:Sixty patients were eventually included in the study(30 in the intervention group and 30 in the control group).There were not obvious between-group differences in the baseline efficacy parameters(all P>0.05).(a)After treatment,the two groups have improved in terms of clinical efficacy,TCM symptom pattern score,menstrual cycle and,BBT(P<0.01,<0.05),and the intervention group was better than the control group(P<0.01,<0.05).(b)In the intervention group,the estradiol(E2)and P450 aromatase(P450 arom)levels were increased(all P<0.05),the testosterone(T)level was decreased(P<0.05),and the luteotropic hormone(LH)and anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH)levels were significantly decreased(P<0.01).In the control group,E2 level was increased(P<0.05),and LH level was decreased(P<0.05).After treatment,the T,LH,and AMH levels of the intervention group were decreased compared with those of the control group(all P<0.05),and the P450 arom level was increased(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Herb-partitioned moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture can effectively improve the related clinical symptoms of PCOS patient

Comparison of Electroacupuncture and Mild-Warm Moxibustion on Brain-Gut Function in Patients with Constipation-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective： To compare the effects of electroacupuncture （EA） and mild-warm moxibustion （Mox） therapies for constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome （C-IBS） patients. Methods： Sixty C-IBS patients were assigned to 2 groups by simple randomized method, i.e. EA group （30 cases） and Mox group （30 cases）. Both EA and Mox treatments were performed on bilateral Tianshu （ST 25） and Shangjuxu （ST 37） for 30 min each time, 6 times per week, for 4 consecutive weeks. The gastrointestinal symptoms and psychological symptoms of the two groups were scored before and after treatment. The effects on the corresponding functional brain areas, namely the anterior cingulate cortex （ACC）, insular cortex （IC） and prefrontal cortex （PFC） were observed by functional magnetic resonance imaging （fMRI） before and after treatment. Results： Compared with the Mox group, greater improvements in abdominal distension, defecation frequency, difficulty in defecation and stool features were observed in the EA group （all P〈0.01）, both Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale scores were significantly decreased in the EA group （all P〈0.01）. Finally, decreased activated voxel values were observed in the ACC, right IC and PFC brain regions of EA group with 150 mL colorectal distension stimulation （P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）. Conclusions： Both EA and Mox could significantly improve some of the most intrusive symptoms of C-IBS patients, and EA was more effective than Mox. The therapeutic effect of these two therapies might through modulating of the brain-gut axis function. （Registration No. ChiCTR- TRC-11001349）.

目的:观察电针(EA)治疗干眼症(DES)的临床疗效及其对患者生活质量(QOL)、焦虑和抑郁情绪的调节作用.方法:采用随机对照方法,将符合纳入标准的DED患者分为电针组(EAG)和针刺组(AG).AG采用单纯针刺治疗;EAG在AG治疗的基础上,加用攒竹、太阳电刺激治疗.观察患者治疗前后的临床症状、眼表疾病指数(OSDI),泪液分泌量Schirmer 1试验(STT-1)、泪膜破裂时间(TF-BUT)、角膜荧光素染色(CFS)评分和角膜知觉(CS)的变化,并检测患者治疗前后的简明健康测量量表(SF-36)、医院焦虑抑郁情绪量表(HADS)评分的变化.结果:与治疗前比较,EAG及AG患者治疗后临床症状、OSDI及CFS评分均显著降低(P<0.05),TF-BUT和CS明显提高(P<0.05),EAG患者泪液分泌增加(P<0.05).与治疗前比较,EAG及AG患者治疗后生理职能、一般健康、情感职能、精神健康生活质量评分均升高(P<0.05),焦虑情绪评分降低(P<0.05).与AG比较,EAG的STT-1增加更显著(P<0.05).结论:电针及针刺疗法对DES症状均有改善作用,均能延长TF-BUT,促进CS修复;同时,还能提高DES患者的QOL,缓解焦虑情绪.在增加泪液分泌量方面,EA疗效优于单独针刺.

目的:观察650 nm-10.6 μm复合激光治疗膝骨关节炎患者的有效性以及与红光照射相比,在减轻疼痛和改善关节功能方面是否具有更好疗效。方法:48名膝骨关节炎患者被随机分到两组(每组24人),分别接受650 nm-10.6 μm复合激光或红光照射犊鼻穴,每次治疗20 min,第一疗程(共2星期)每星期治疗3次,第二疗程(共4星期)每星期治疗2次。主要结果采用 McMaster 大学关节炎量表(Western Ontario and McMasterUniversities Osteoarthritis Index,WOMAC)进行打分。并对患者关于疗效的自评、治疗的副作用及盲法的有效性进行统计分析。结果:所有患者均完成了第一疗程,但有12名患者在第二疗程脱落。由于第二疗程的脱落率较高,故只对第一疗程的数据进行分析。治疗前,两组患者一般情况及 WOMAC 得分无显著性差异(P>0.05)。治疗后,复合激光组及红光照射组患者 WOMAC 得分与基线期相比均有显著降低(P0.05)。两组患者对疗效的自评及脱落率比较均无统计学差异(P>0.05)。两组患者对自己所属分组的猜测无统计学差异(P>0.05),且两组患者对自己所属分组的猜测未对其 WOMAC 得分改善率及对疗效的自评产生影响(P>0.05)。结论:复合激光和红光照射犊鼻穴对膝骨关节炎患者均有疗效,需扩大样本量,控制脱落率,以进一步观察两者的差异。

Corneal astigmatism correction with scleral flaps in trans-scleral suture-fixed posterior chamber lens implantation:a preliminary clinical observation

AIM: To study the impact of scleral flap position, under which the posterior chamber intraocular lenses (PC-IOL) were sulcus-fixed by trans-scleral suture, on cornea astigmatism. METHODS: Twenty-six aphakic or cataract eyes were comprised in this prospective noncomparative case series study. Eleven eyes had traumatic cataract removed without sufficient capsular support, 3 had blunt trauma with subluxated traumatic cataract, 8 had undergone vitreoretinal surgery and 4 had congenital cataract removed. The average age was 54 years (range 21-74 years), with 17 men and 7 women. The foldable PC-IOL was fixed in sulcus by trans-scleral suture. The incision for IOL implantation was made 1mm posterior to limbus along the steepest meridian of cornea, while scleral flaps to bury the knots of trans-scleral suture were made along the flattest meridian. All the surgeries were performed by a single doctor (Ma L), and the follow up was at least 13 months (range 13-28 months). The preoperative, 3 months and 1 year postoperative corneal curvature along the steepest and flattest cornea meridian and overall cornea astigmatism were compared. RESULTS: The curvature along the steepest meridian changed from 44.25 +/- 2.22D preoperatively to 44.08 +/- 2.16D at 3 months postoperatively, and 43.65 +/- 5.23D at 1 year postoperatively (P>0.05); the curvature along the flattest meridian changed from 41.24 +/- 2.21D preoperatively to 43.15 +/- 3.94D at 3 months postoperatively, and 42.85 +/- 5.17D at 1 year postoperatively (Pmeridian, under which the posterior chamber intraocular lenses (PCIOL) were sulcus-fixed by trans-scleral suture, can steepen the cornea in varying degrees, thus reducing preexi
