Improving Performance of Recurrent Neural Networks Using Simulated Annealing for Vertical Wind Speed Estimation

An accurate vertical wind speed(WS)data estimation is required to determine the potential for wind farm *** general,the vertical extrapolation of WS at different heights must consider different parameters fromdifferent locations,such as wind shear coefficient,roughness length,and atmospheric *** novelty presented in this article is the introduction of two steps optimization for the Recurrent Neural Networks(RNN)model to estimate WS at different heights using measurements from lower *** first optimization of the RNN is performed to minimize a differentiable cost function,namely,mean squared error(MSE),using the Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno ***,the RNN is optimized to reduce a non-differentiable cost function using simulated annealing(RNN-SA),namely mean absolute error(MAE).Estimation ofWS vertically at 50 m height is done by training RNN-SA with the actualWS data a 10–40 m *** estimatedWS at height of 50 m and the measured WS at 10–40 heights are further used to train RNN-SA to obtain WS at 60 m *** procedure is repeated continuously until theWS is estimated at a height of 180 *** RNN-SA performance is compared with the standard RNN,Multilayer Perceptron(MLP),Support Vector Machine(SVM),and state of the art methods like convolutional neural networks(CNN)and long short-term memory(LSTM)networks to extrapolate theWS *** estimated values are also compared with realWS dataset acquired using LiDAR and tested using four error metrics namely,mean squared error(MSE),mean absolute percentage error(MAPE),mean bias error(MBE),and coefficient of determination(R2).The numerical experimental results show that the MSE values between the estimated and actualWS at 180mheight for the RNN-SA,RNN,MLP,and SVM methods are found to be 2.09,2.12,2.37,and 2.63,respectively.

By means of solvothermal reactions,a novel lanthanide-mercury compound,{[Ho(IA)3(H3O)2]2n[2n(HgCl4)][n(HgCl5)]}·3nH3O·nH2O(1,HIA=isonicotinc acid)was prepared and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray *** 1 crystallizes in the C2/c space group of monoclinic system with a=24.2147(5),b=20.8106(4),c=15.3060(3)Å,β=128.326(2)°,V=6050.8(2)Å3,C36H45Cl13Hg3Ho2N6O20,Mr=2274.26,Z=4,Dc=2.497 g/cm^3,μ(MoKα)=10.817 mm-1 and F(000)=*** exhibits a one-dimensional(1-D)chain-like ***-state photoluminescence measurement shows that it displays brown light emission *** emission bands originate from the characteristic emissions of the 4f electrons intrashell transitions of 5S2→5I8 and 5F5→5I8 of the holmium(Ⅲ)ions in *** photoluminescence emission energy transfer mechanism is elucidated by the energy level diagrams of the holmium(Ⅲ)ions and isonicotinic acid *** 1 has CIE chromaticity coordinates of(0.4361,0.4992).Solid-state UV/Vis diffuse reflectance spectra reveal that it possesses wide optical band gap of 4.94 eV.

Effects of Nano-carbon humic Acid Water-retaining Fertilizer on Citrus Growth and the Soil Bacterial Community in Citrus Field

[Objective] In order to reveal the effects of reducing the amount of novel nano-carbon humic acid water-retaining fertilizer(CSF) on soil microbial community structure and citrus growth. [Method]In this study,conventional fertilization was as the control(KC1) in Wanzhou citrus orchard of Three Gorges Reservoir area. CSF reductions by 0%(KC2),10%(KC3),20%(KC4),30%(KC5) and 40%(KC6) were used to analyze the changes of soil bacterial community structure,citrus yield and quality. [Result]The results showed that the observed species,Shannon index,Chao1 index and PDwholetree of KC6 were higher than those of KC1,and were the same as KC2. The abundance of Xanthomonadaceae was the highest in KC5. Compared with KC1,the Xanthomonadaceae in KC3,KC4 and KC6 was significantly decreased,and the levels of Nitrosomonadaceae and Pseudomonasaceae were higher than that of KC1 after the treatment of KC6. Sphingomonas in different reduction treatments was lower than that of KC1,but Burkholderia and Pseudomonas were significantly higher than those of KC1. It was found that the similarity among treatments was small after bacterial community similarity clustering analysis,and citrus yield increased somewhat after CSF fertilization *** CSF fertilization reduced by 30%,citrus yield increased by 4. 50%. When CSF fertilization reduced by 40%,citrus yield decreased by4. 14%. After CSF fertilization,citrus quality did not change significantly in CSF conventional fertilization and reduction of 10% and 40%,while significantly decreased in 20% and 30% of fertilization reduction. [Conclusion] CSF fertilization reduction changed the diversity of soil bacterial community structure and the yield and quality of citrus.

Two-dimensional correlation spectroscopic analysis on the interaction between humic acids and aluminum coagulant

In this study, two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy integrated with synchronous fluorescence and infrared absorption spectroscopy was employed to investigate the interaction between humic acids and aluminum coagulant at slightly acidic and neutral p H. Higher fluorescence quenching was produced for fulvic-like and humic-like fractions at p H 5. At p H 5, the humic-like fractions originating from the carboxylic acid, carboxyl and polysaccharide compounds were bound to aluminum first, followed by the fulvic-like fractions originating from the carboxyl and polysaccharide compounds. This finding also demonstrated that the activated functional groups of HA were involved in forming the Al-HA complex, which was accompanied by the removal of other groups by ***, at p H 7, almost no fluorescence quenching occurred, and surface complexation was observed to occur, in which the activated functional groups were absorbed on the amorphous Al（OH）3. Two-dimensional FT-IR correlation spectroscopy indicated the sequence of HA structural change during coagulation with aluminum, with IR bands affected in the order of COOH〉 COO-〉NH deformation of amide Ⅱ〉 aliphatic hydroxyl C／OH at p H 5, and COO-〉aliphatic hydroxyl C／OH at p H 7. This study provides a promising pathway for analysis and insight into the priority of functional groups in the interaction between organic matters and metal coagulants.

Comparison of UV/PDS and UV/H_2O_2 processes for the degradation of atenolol in water

UV/H2O2 and UV/peroxodisulfate （PDS） processes were adopted to degrade a typical β-blocker atenolol （ATL）. The degradation efficiencies under various operational parameters （oxidant dosage, pH, HCO3-, humic acid （HA）, NO3- , and Cl-） were compared. Principal factor analysis was also performed with a statistical method for the two processes. It was found that increasing the specific dosage of the two peroxides （[peroxide]0/[ATL]0 ） ranging from 1：1 to 8：1 led to a faster degradation rate but also higher peroxide residual. Within the pH range 3-11, the optimum pH was 7 for the UV/PDS process and elevating pH benefitted the UV/H 2O2 process. The presence of HCO3- , HA, and Cl adversely affected ATL oxidation in both processes. The NO3- concentration 1-3 mmol/L accelerated the destruction of ATL by the UV/PDS process, but further increase of NO3- concentration retarded the degradation process, contrary to the case in the UV/H2O2 process. The rank orders of effects caused by the six operational parameters were pH ≈ specific dosage 〉 [HA]0 〉 [NO3-]0 〉 [HCO3-]0 〉 [Cl-]0 for the UV/H2O2 process and specific dosage 〉 pH 〉 [HA]0 〉 [NO3-]0 〉 [HCO3-]0 〉[Cl-]0 for the UV/PDS process. The UV/PDS process was more sensitive to changes in operational parameters than the UV/H2O2 process but more efficient in ATL removal under the same conditions.

Characterization of cake layer structure on the microfiltration membrane permeability by iron pre-coagulation

A cake layer is formed by coagulation aggregates under certain transmembrane pressure in the coagulation-microfiltration （MF） process. The characteristics of humic acid aggregates coagulated by different iron-based coagulants, such as charge, size, fractal dimension and compressibility, have an effect on the cake layer structure. At the optimum iron dose of 0.6 to 0.8 mmol/L for ferric chloride （FC） and polymer ferric sulfate （PFS） pre-coagulation, at the point of charge neutralization for near zero zeta potential, the aggregate particles produced possess the greatest size and highest fractal dimension, which contributes to the cake layer being most loose with high porosity and low compressibility. Thus the membrane filterability is better. At a low or high iron dose of FC and PFS, a high negative or positive zeta potential with high charge repulsion results in so many small aggregate particles and low fractal dimension that the cake layer is compact with low porosity and high compressibility. Therefore the membrane fouling is accelerated and MF permeability becomes worse. The variation of cake layer structure as measured by scanning electric microscopy corresponds with the fact that the smaller the coagulation flocs size and fractal dimension are, the lower the porosity and the tighter the cake layer conformation. This also explains the MF membrane flux variation visually and accurately.

This study examines the development and sedimentology of Can-Etili lignite basin in Biga Peninsula(NW Turkey) along with the palynologic and petrographic properties of the coals in this *** CanEtili lignite basin discordantly overlies Oligocene-aged Can *** basin consists of caldera type sedimentation developed by the combined effects of volcanism and *** volcanic rocks forming the basement of the basin consist of andesitic,dacitic and basaltic lava flows as well as agglomerates,tuff and silicified tuffs,and kaolin which is their alteration *** basement volcanic rocks cooled from high potassium and calc-alkaline *** trace element geochemistry of different rocks within the volcanics reveals that they are from a volcanic *** Can Formation contains lignites and consists of6 lithofacies representing alluvial,fluvial,marsh and lacustrine *** lithofacies are the lower volcanogenic conglomerate,the claystone,the lignite,the laminated organic claystone,the tuff intercalated sandstone-siltstone and the upper volcanogenic *** lignite in the basin is limnic and is formed in a non-fluvial marsh and marsh-lake *** abundant percentage of vegetation(Engelhardia,Sapotaceae,Cyrillaceae) is compatible with temperate and subtropical climatic conditions in the basin during sedimentation of *** coals of Can-Etili basin are humic with high sulfur content(6-6.5%average) mostly containing huminite compounds belonging to the class of lignitelow bituminous(C-A) *** coalification rank is between 0.38%and 0.56%*** coals are formed in limnic-limnotelmatic marsh zones based on their microlithotype *** inorganic components of the coal mostly consist of pyrite and *** trace elements,As,Th,U and V,are higher than international coal *** coal quality is adversely affected by high sulfur content and sulfur driven trace element *** lignite reserve(possible-proved)

Effects of effluent organic matters on endocrine disrupting chemical removal by ultrafiltration and ozonation in synthetic secondary effluent

Endocrine disrupting chemicals(EDCs) in the secondary effluent discharged from wastewater treatment plants are of great concern when water reuse is intended. Ozonation and ultrafiltration(UF) are powerful technologies reported to eliminate EDCs. Due to the importance of effluent organic matters(EfOMs) in secondary effluent, the effects of three kinds of EfOM on the treatment of five EDCs using ozonation and UF were investigated. The three kinds of EfOM studied were humic acid sodium salt(NaAH), bovine serum albumin(BSA)and sodium alginate(NaAg); and the five EDCs were estrone, 17β-estradiol, estriol, 17α-ethynyl estradiol and bisphenol A. The results showed that EfOM accelerated the decay rate of ozone and inhibited the degradation efficiency of EDCs by ozonation in the order NaAH > BSA > *** ultraviolet absorbance at 280 nm(UVA_(280)) has potential for use as a surrogate indicator to assess EDC removal via ozonation without conducting difficult EDC analyses. When the decline in UVA_(280) exceeded 18%, the five EDCs had been completely removed. The UF behavior of NaAH,BSA and NaAg was found to follow the cake filtration law. The fouling potential of EfOM followed the order NaAg > NaAH > BSA; while EfOM on the membrane surface enhanced EDC removal in the order NaAH > BSA > NaAg. The mean retention rate of the membrane was increased by 24%, 10% and 8%, respectively. The properties of EDCs and EfOM cakes both influenced the EDC removal rates due to adsorption, size exclusion and charge attraction.

Atrazine is a widely used herbicide for controlling weeds on both agricultural and nonagricultural land,which is equally detected in water supplies beyond safe *** the presence of atrazine metabolites is an indication of herbicide degradation,some of them still exhibit toxicity,greater water solubility and weaker interaction with soil components than ***,studies with atrazine in the environment are of interest because of its potential to contaminate drinking water *** on atrazine availability for transport,plant uptake,and microbial degradation and mineralization are therefore required to perform more comprehensive and realistic environmental risk assessments of its environmental *** review presents an account of the sorption-desorption phenomenon of atrazine on soil and other sorbents by revisiting the several mechanisms of atrazine-sorbent binding reported in the *** retention and transport of atrazine in soils;the influence of organic matter on atrazine sorption;the interactions of atrazine with humic substances,atrazine uptake by plants,atrazine bioccumulation and microbial degradation;atrazine transformation in composting environments;and finally atrazine removal by biosorption are discussed.
