Pilocytic astrocytoma(PA)may be seen in both adults and children as a distinct histologic and biologic subset of low-grade *** is the principal treatment for the management of PAs;however,selected patients may benefit from irradiation particularly in the setting of inoperability,incomplete resection,or recurrent *** conventionally fractionated radiation therapy has been traditionally utilized for radiotherapeutic management,stereotactic irradiation strategies have been introduced more recently to improve the toxicity profile of radiation delivery without compromising tumor *** may be suitable for radiosurgical management due to their typical appearance as well circumscribed *** and precise targeting of these well-defined lesions under stereotactic immobilization and image guidance may offer great potential for achieving an improved therapeutic ratio by virtue of radiosurgical *** the high conformality along with steep dose gradients around the target volume allowing for reduced normal tissue exposure,radiosurgery may be considered a viable modality of radiotherapeutic *** advantage of radiosurgery may be the completion of therapy in a usually shorter overall treatment time,which may be particularly well suited for children with requirement of anesthesia during *** studies have addressed the utility of radiosurgery particularly as an adjuvant or salvage treatment modality for ***,despite the growing body of evidence supporting the use of radiosurgery,there is need for a high level of evidence to dictate treatment decisions and establish its optimal role in the management of ***,we provide a concise review of radiosurgery for PA in light of the literature.

Objective: Panitumumab administered as monotherapy in colorectal cancer(CRC) has shown response and disease stabilization rates of approximately 30%. The current study aimed to evaluate the progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS) of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC) treated with panitumumab every 3 weeks as a second line ***: This study is a retrospective analysis of 18 patients, aged more than 18 years, with wild-type KRAS exon 2 mCRC treated with panitumumab as a second-line single agent after progression on first-line ***: The median number of courses received was 10(range, 4-29), and the median duration of treatment was 30 weeks(range,12-96 weeks). After a median follow-up period of 13 months, the median PFS was 6 months(range, 4.3-7.7 months) and the median OS was 11 months(range, 7.4-14.5 months). The median PFS was 4 months for patients with < grade 2 skin toxicity and 6months(range, 4.5-7.5 months) for patients with ≥ grade 2 skin rash(P=0.05). The median OS was 9 months(range, 6.4-11.5months) and 14 months(range, 11.6-16.3 months) for the two groups of patients(P=0.002).Conclusions: Panitumumab given every 3 weeks is effective and well tolerated in patients with advanced CRC that progressed after standard chemotherapy.

Background： We examined the impact of adjuvant modalities on resected pancreatic and periampullary adenocarcinoma（PAC）.Methods： A total of 563 patients who were curatively resected for PAC were retrospectively analyzed between 2003 and ***： Of 563 patients, 472 received adjuvant chemotherapy（CT） alone, chemoradiotherapy（CRT） alone, and chemoradiotherapy plus chemotherapy（CRT-CT） were analyzed. Of the 472 patients, 231 were given CRT-CT, 26 were given CRT, and 215 were given CT. The median recurrence-free survival（RFS） and overall survival（OS） were 12 and 19 months, respectively. When CT and CRT-CT groups were compared, there was no significant difference with respect to both RFS and OS, and also there was no difference in RFS and OS among CRT-CT, CT and CRT groups. To further investigate the impact of radiation on subgroups, patients were stratified according to lymph node status and resection margins. In node-positive patients, both RFS and OS were significantly longer in CRT-CT than CT. In contrast, there was no significant differencebetween groups when patients with node-negative disease or patients with or without positive surgical margins were ***： Addition of radiation to CT has a survival benefit in patients with node-positive disease following pancreatic resection.

AIM To evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of neoadjuvant hyperfractionated accelerated radiotherapy(HART)and concurrent chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced infraperitoneal rectal cancer. METHODS A total of 30 patients with histopathologically confirmed T2-3/N0+ infraperitoneal adenocarcinoma of rectum cancer patients received preoperative 42 Gy/1.5 Gy/18 days/bid radiotherapy and continuous infusion of 5-fluorouracil(325 mg/m^2). All patients were operated 4-8 wk after neoadjuvant concomitant therapy. RESULTS In the early phase of treatment, 6 patients had grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ gastrointestinal toxicity, 2 patients had grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ hematologic toxicity, and 1 patient had grade Ⅴ toxicity due to postoperative sepsis during chemotherapy. Only 1 patient had radiotherapy-related late side effects, i.e., grade Ⅳ tenesmus. Complete pathological response was achieved in 6 patients(21%), while near-complete pathological response was obtained in 9(31%). After a median follow-up period of 60 mo, the local tumor control rate was 96.6%. In 13 patients, distant metastasis occurred. Disease-free survival rates at 2 and 5 years were 63.3% and 53%, and corresponding overall survival rates were 70% and 53.1%, *** Although it has excellent local control and complete pathological response rates, neoadjuvant HART concurrent chemotherapy appears to not be a feasible treatment regimen in locally advanced rectal cancer, having high perioperative complication and intolerable side effects. Effects of reduced 5-fluorouracil dose or omission of chemotherapy with the aim of reducing toxicity may be examined in further studies.

The aim of this study was to examine the prognostic factors and treatment outcomes of cervical esophageal carcinoma(CEC)patients who underwent definitive chemoradiotherapy(CRT).The clinical data of 175 biopsyconfirmed CEC patients treated with definitive CRT between April 2005 and September 2021 were retrospectively *** prognostic factors predicting overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),and local recurrence-free survival(LRFS)were assessed in uni-and multivariable *** median age of the entire cohort was 56 years(range:26–87 years).All patients received definitive radiotherapy with a median total dose of 60 Gy,and 52%of the patients received cisplatin-based concurrent *** 2-year OS,PFS,and LRFS rates were 58.8%,46.9%,and 52.4%,respectively,with a median follow-up duration of 41.6 ***’performance status,clinical nodal stage,tumor size,and treatment response were significant prognostic factors for OS,PFS,and LRFS in univariate ***-complete treatment response was an independent predictor for poor OS(HR=4.41,95%CI,2.78–7.00,pradiation doses were found to have no effect on treatment outcomes,but a better response to treatment and a better patient performance status did.

AIM: To investigate the antif ibrotic effects of peginterferon- alpha 2b and taurine on oxidative stress markers and hepatocellular apoptosis. METHODS: Sixty rats with CCl4-induced liver fibrosis were divided into 4 groups (n = 15). Group 1 was left for spontaneous recovery (SR). Groups 2-4 received peginterferon-alpha 2b, taurine, and their combination, respectively, for four weeks. Histological f ibrosis scores, histomorphometric analysis, tissue hydroxyproline, tissue MDA, GPx and SOD activities were determined. Activated stellate cells and hepatocellular apoptosis were also evaluated. RESULTS: The degree of f ibrosis decreased in all treatment groups compared to spontaneous recovery group. Taurine alone and in combination with peginterferon-alpha 2b reduced oxidative stress markers, but peginterferon-alpha 2b alone did not. Apoptotic hepatocytes and activated stellate cells were higher in groups 2-4 than in group 1. Combined taurine and peginterferon-alpha 2b further reduced fibrosis and increased activated stellate cell apoptosis, but could not improve oxidative stress more than taurine ***: Peginterferon-alpha 2b exerts anti- f ibrotic effects on rat liver fibrosis. It seems ineffective against oxidative stress in vivo. Peginterferon-alpha 2b in combination with taurine seems to be an antif ibrotic strategy.

BACKGROUND Infiltration of the breast by leukemic cells is uncommon but may manifest as an oncological emergency requiring prompt *** relapse of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia(T-ALL)within the breast is exceedingly rare and there is paucity of data in the literature regarding this *** consensus exists on management of isolated extramedullary breast relapses of ***,we report a case of isolated extramedullary breast relapse of T-ALL treated with breathing adapted radiation therapy(BART)using the active breathing control(ABC)*** SUMMARY The patient was a 33-year-old female with diagnosis of *** received intensive systemic chemotherapy that resulted in complete remission of her disease,and then underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell *** a 15 mo period without symptoms and signs of progression,the patient presented with palpable masses in both *** complained from severe pain and swelling of the *** workup showed bilateral breast lesions,and diagnosis of breast infiltration by leukemic cells was confirmed after immunohistopathological *** patient suffering from severe pain,discomfort,and swelling of both breasts due to leukemic infiltration was referred to the radiation oncology department for symptomatic *** breast irradiation was delivered to both breasts of the patient with BART using the ABC *** patient had complete resolution of her symptoms after treatment with *** BART with the ABC system resulted in complete resolution of the patient’s symptoms due to leukemic infiltration of both breasts with *** contemporary treatment technique should be preferred for radiotherapeutic management of patients with leukemic infiltration of the breasts to achieve effective symptomatic palliation.

AIM:To investigate the role of triamcinolone in the management of acute and chronic enteritis caused by pelvic ***:Twenty-eight patients with rectum adenocarcinoma or endometrium adenocarcinoma were *** compared the results of 14 patients treated with injected triamcinolone acetonide(TA)with those of 14 patients who were not treated with *** the TA group,40 mg of TA was injected intramuscularly on the 1st,11th and 21st d of radiotherapy;the control group received no *** of the study participants had a median age of 65 years,had undergone postoperative radiotherapy and were evaluated weekly using radiation Therapy oncology Group and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Acute Morbidity Score Criteria,and complete blood counts for every 10 ***:Triamcinolone was found to effectively prevent and treat radiation-induced acute gastrointestinal(enteritis)and genitourinary(cystitis)side effects(P=0.022 and P=0.023).For the lower GI side effect follow up,11 patients in the control group had Grade 2toxicity and 3 patients had Grade 1 *** the TA group,5 patients had Grade 2 toxicity and 9 patients had Grade 1 *** the genitourinary system side effect follow up,4 patients had Grade 2 toxicity and 6patients had Grade 1 ***,2 patients had Grade 2 toxicity and 2 patients had Grade 1 *** neutrophil counts did not differ between the TA group and the control *** was no meaningful difference between age groups and primary *** the 12th mo of follow up,there were no differences between groups for chronic side ***:Triamcinolone is a moderately potent steroid,that is inexpensive and has a good safety *** would be beneficial for reducing medical expenses related to treatment of radiation induced enteritis.
