Endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury:PERK as a potential target for intervention

Several studies have shown that activation of unfolded protein response and endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress plays a crucial role in severe cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** occurs within hours after cerebral ischemia,but the relationship between ER stress and autophagy remains *** this study,we established experimental models using oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation in PC12 cells and primary neurons to simulate cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** found that prolongation of oxygen-glucose deprivation activated the ER stress pathway protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase(PERK)/eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit alpha(e IF2α)-activating transcription factor 4(ATF4)-C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP),increased neuronal apoptosis,and induced ***,inhibition of ER stress using inhibitors or by si RNA knockdown of the PERK gene significantly attenuated excessive autophagy and neuronal apoptosis,indicating an interaction between autophagy and ER stress and suggesting PERK as an essential target for regulating *** autophagy with chloroquine exacerbated ER stress-induced apoptosis,indicating that normal levels of autophagy play a protective role in neuronal injury following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** from this study indicate that cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury can trigger neuronal ER stress and promote autophagy,and suggest that PERK is a possible target for inhibiting excessive autophagy in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.

In this study,ionosonde observations over Fuke(19.5°N,109.1°E),Wuhan(30.5°N,114.4°E),and Mohe(53.5°N,122.3°E)were analyzed to demonstrate the responses of the sporadic E()to the severe atmospheric disturbances caused by the Tonga volcanic eruptions on January 15,*** most prominent signature was the disappearance of the layer after~10:00 UT over Wuhan and Fuke,which was attributed to the vertical drift caused by the *** occurred intermittently after 13:00 UT following the arrival of the tropospheric Lamb *** examine the causal mechanism for the intermittence,we also included data of horizontal winds in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere region recorded by the meteor radars at Wuhan and Mohe in this *** wind disturbances with periods of~20 hours contributed to the formation of the layer in the nighttime on January 15.

Terrestrial ecosystems heavily depend on vegetation,which responds to carbon dioxide （CO2） fertilization in hot and humid *** subtropical humid karst region is a hot and humid region;whether and to what extent CO2fertilization affects vegetation changes in such regions remains *** this study,we investigated the degree to which CO2fertilization influences vegetation changes,along with their spatial and temporal differences,in the subtropical humid karst region using time-lag effect analysis,a random forest model,and multiple regression *** showed that CO2fertilization plays an important role in vegetation changes,exhibiting clear spatial variations across different geomorphological zones,with its degree of influence ranging mainly between 11%and 25%.The highest contribution of CO2fertilization was observed in the karst basin and non-karstic region,whereas the lowest contribution was found in the karst plateau *** studies have primarily attributed vegetation changes in subtropical humid karst region to ecological engineering,leading to an overestimation of its contribution to these *** findings of this study enhance the understanding of the mechanism of vegetation changes in humid karst region and provide theoretical and practical insights for ecological and environmental protection in these regions.

运用磁电导效应（MC）方法研究了高温环境下基于TBRb/C60结构的OLED的激基复合物演化过程.首次在室温下直接观测到源于器件内部激基复合物EX1←EX3过程的反向系间窜跃（RISC）.该器件具备半带隙开启特性.原位加热器件至400 K,发现MC特征线型由RISC变为三重态激子-电荷湮灭（TQA）这一奇特现象.通过综合分析器件的MC曲线、电流-电压特性曲线、瞬态电致发光光谱和光学显微镜图像以及TBRb薄膜的原子力显微镜图像,我们发现温度的升高破坏了有机材料的分子结构,导致组成OLED的有机薄膜内产生许多陷阱.这些陷阱将捕获极化子对、EX和激子态,然后影响它们的相互作用,最终导致MC迹线的变化.这项工作加深了我们对高温环境下TBRb/C60平面异质结器件内部复杂的演化过程的物理机制的理解,还为研究高温环境下OLED的微观机制提供了一种新方法.

Alzheimer's disease,the primary cause of dementia,is characterized by neuropathologies,such as amyloid plaques,synaptic and neuronal degeneration,and neurofibrillary *** amyloid plaques are the primary characteristic of Alzheimer's disease in the central nervous system and peripheral organs,targeting amyloid-beta clearance in the central nervous system has shown limited clinical efficacy in Alzheimer's disease *** abnormalities are commonly observed in patients with Alzheimer's *** liver is the primary peripheral organ involved in amyloid-beta metabolism,playing a crucial role in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's ***,impaired cholesterol metabolism in the liver may exacerbate the development of Alzheimer's *** this review,we explore the underlying causes of Alzheimer's disease and elucidate the role of the liver in amyloid-beta clearance and cholesterol ***,we propose that restoring normal cholesterol metabolism in the liver could represent a promising therapeutic strategy for addressing Alzheimer's disease.

The effect of decoherence on the phase transition of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a symmetric double-well potential is determined by the mean atom number difference. It still has two phases, the tunneling phase and the self-trapping phase, even under decoherence. The density matrix and the operator fidelity also show very different behaviors in the two phases. This suggests that operator fidelity can be used to characterize the phase transition of this Bose-Einstein condensate model, even under decoherence.

Currently, the escalation of water pollution due to heavy metals has reached a critical point, posing a significant threat to human existence. Lead and its compounds, among these metals, exhibit notable stability, making them resistant to metabolic breakdown and degradation. However, the persistence of lead in water can endanger human well-being by infiltrating the food chain, leading to various ailments, including cancer. The adsorption approach has gained considerable prominence in the realm of heavy metal treatment methodologies, owing to its broad applicability, pronounced selectivity, and the potential for renewing and reusing adsorbents. Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs), characterized by their porous structure, have emerged as a premier choice for adsorbing heavy metal ions, thanks to their substantial specific surface area, robust stability, and minimal density. This comprehensive review aims to encapsulate and delve into the adsorption parameters, kinetics, and mechanisms inherent in the utilization of highly efficient and recyclable MOF composites for Pb(Ⅱ) adsorption in water. This effort seeks to provide a foundational guide for prospective research endeavors and practical implementations.

Based on a first order nonlinear ordinary differential equation with at most a sixth-degree nonlinear term which is extended from a type of elliptic equation, and by converting it into a new expansion form, this paper proposes a new algebraic method to construct exact solutions for nonlinear evolution equations. Being concise and straightforward, the method is applied to modified Benjamin-Bona-Mahony （mBBM） model, and some new exact solutions to the system are obtained. The algorithm is of important significance in exploring exact solutions for other nonlinear evolution equations.
