Experimental and Numerical Studies on Sea Sand co.crete Filled Stainless Steel Tube with Inner FRP Tube Subjected to Axial co.pression

Since fibre-reinforced polymer(FRP) and stainless steel(SS) offer advantages of co.rosion resistance and hybrid co.finement, this study proposed a new type of co.posite co.umn: sea sand co.crete(SSC)-filled SS tubular co.umns with an inner FRP tube(CFSTFs) to help exploit abundant ocean resources in marine engineering. To study co.pressive behaviours of these novel members, eight CFSTFs and two SSC-filled SS tubular co.umns(CFSTs)were tested under axial co.pression. Their axial load-displacement curves, axial load-strain curves in SS or FRP tubes were obtained, and influences of key test parameters(the existence of glass FRP(GFRP) tubes, steel tube shapes, and GFRP tube thicknesses and diameters) were discussed. Further, specimen failure mechanism was analyzed employing the finite element method using ABAQUS software. Test results co.firmed the excellent ductility and load-bearing capacity of CFSTFs. The existence of GFRP tubes inside can postpone SS tube buckling, and the co.tent of inner FRP tubes, particularly increasing diameters, was found to improve co.pressive behaviours. GFRP co.tents helped develop the seco.d elastic-plastic stage of the load-displacement curves. Furthermore, the bearing capacity of CFSTFs with a circular cross-section was approximately 26% higher than that with a square cross-section, and this difference narrowed with the increase in GFRP ratios.

In situ and simultaneous remediation of a variety of pollutants in sediments remains a *** this study,we report that the co.bination of electroco.gulation(EC)and electrooxidation(EO)is efficient in the immobilization of phosphorus and heavymetals and in the oxidation of ammonium and toxic *** integratedmixed metal oxide(MMO)/Fe anode system allowed the facile removal of ammonium and phosphorus in the overlying water(99% of 10 mg/L NH_(4)^(+)-N and 95% of 10 mg/L P disappeared in 15 and 30 min,respectively).co.pared with the co.trols of the single Fe anode and single MMO anode systems,the dual MMO/Fe anode system significantly improved the removal of phenanthrene and promoted the transition of Pb and Cu from the mobile species to the immobile *** co.centrations of Pb and Cu in the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure extracts were reduced by 99%and 97% after an 8 hr *** tests with four real polluted samples indicated that substantial proportions of acid-soluble fraction Pb and Cu were reduced(30%-31% for Pb and 16%–23% for Cu),and the amounts of total organic carbon and NH_(4)^(+)-N decreased by 56%–71% and 32%–63%,*** was proposed that the in situ electrogenerated Fe(II)at the Fe anode and the active oxygen/chlorine species at the MMO anode are co.ducive to outstanding performance in the co.treatment of multiple *** results suggest that the EC/EO method is a powerful technology for the in situ remediation of sediments co.taminated with different pollutants.

Exploring plant adaptation strategies to phosphorus limitation induced by nitrogen addition:foliar phosphorus allocation and root functional traits analysis in two dominant subalpine tree species

Enhanced wear prediction of tunnel boring machine disc cutters for accurate remaining useful life estimation using a hybrid model

In tunnel construction with tunnel boring machines(TBMs),accurate prediction of the remaining useful life(RUL)of disc cutters is critical for timely maintenance and replacement to avoid delays and co.t *** paper introduces a novel hybrid model,integrating fundamental and data-driven approaches,to enhance wear prediction of TBM disc cutters and enable accurate RUL *** fundamental model is improved by inco.porating co.posite wear mechanisms and load estimation techniques,showcasing superior prediction accuracy co.pared to single-mechanism ***,the hybrid model innovatively inco.porates a data-driven supplementary residual term into the improved fundamental model,leading to a high-performance wear prediction *** actual field data from a highway tunnel project in Shenzhen,the performance of the hybrid model is rigorously tested and co.pared with pure fundamental and data-driven *** hybrid model outperforms the other models,achieving the highest accuracy in predicting TBM disc cutter wear(mean absolute error(MAE)=0.53,root mean square error(RMSE)=0.64).Furthermore,this study thoroughly analyzes the hybrid model’s generalization capability,revealing significant impacts of geological co.ditions on prediction *** model’s generalization capability is also improved by expanding and updating the data *** RUL estimation results provided by the hybrid model are straightforward and effective,making it a valuable tool by which construction staff can monitor TBM disc cutters.

Estimation of PM_(10) in the trafc-related atmosphere for three road types in Beijing and guangzhou, China

The levels of roadside PM10 in Beijing, China, were investigated in 2011 and 2012 on a seasonal basis to estimate the population exposure to particulates for three road types. The measurements of PM10 were also co.ducted in the southern Chinese megacity of guangzhou for co.parison purposes. The results showed that roadside PMlo in Beijing co.related strongly with the PM10 background in the urban atmosphere. The levels of PM10 in street canyons were markedly higher than those along the open roads and in crossroad areas because of limited ventilation. An elevation of PM10 was observed in April, which was possibly due to the sand storms that frequently occur in the spring. Based on these observations, roadside PM10 in Beijing co.ld have multiple origins and was to some extent dispersion- governed. In guangzhou, the roadside PM10 did not closely relate to the background values. The PM10 pollution was greatly affected by local traffic co.ditions. The simulation of PM10 for different road types was co.pleted during the study period using the Motor Vehicle Emissions Factor Model （MOBILE6.2） as an emission model and the California Line Source Dispersion Model （CALINE4） and Operational Street Pollution Model （OSPM） as dispersion models. The MOBILE6.2/CALINE4 software package was demonstrated to be sufficient for the simulation of PM10 in the open roads and crossroad areas in both Beijing and guangzhou, and the simulation results of roadside PM10 in the street canyons by the MOBILE6.2/OSPM package were in close agreement with those of the measurements.

STUDY ON THE FALLING FILM ABSORPTION OUTSIDE SMOOTH AND ENHANCED TUBES

In this paper, mathematical models of smooth and enhanced tubes were established. A new mathematical model in evaluating single-tube falling film absorption effect outside enhanced tubes is proposed. The liquid film outside enhanced tubes is assumed to co.sist of two layers, i.e. internal and external layers. The analytical solutions to the distribution of the velocity, temperature and co.centration in the internal layer are obtained by means of theoretical analysis, while the solutions in the external layer are calculated by using numerical method. The governing equations of the two layers are co.pled using a seco.d-order co.pling method. The effects of the height and the angle of the ribs on the performances of the heat and mass transfer of the liquid film are discussed. It is shown that the agreement is good between the calculation results and the experimental data.

Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution from the Splitting of Water over Cd_(1-x)Zn_xS/K_2La_2Ti_3O_(10) co.posites under Visible Light Irradiation

A series of Cd1-xZnxS/K2La2Ti3O10 co.posites were synthesized via a simple co.precipitation method. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microsco.y(SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectrosco.y(EDX), ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflection(UV-Vis), X-ray photoelectron spectrosco.y(XPS) and photoluminescence(PL) measurements. The co.posite structures co.sisted of Cd1-xZnxS nanoparticles evenly distributed on the surface of K2La2Ti3O10. The absorption edge of K2La2Ti3O10 shifted to the visible light region upon introduction of the Cd1-xZnxS nanoparticles. The photocatalytic activities of the catalysts were evaluated by hydrogen production under visible light irradiation. The prepared Cd0.8Zn0.2S(30wt%)/K2La2Ti3O10 exhibited higher photocatalytic activity, evolving 6.92 mmol/g H2 under visible light irradiation for 3 h. The promoted photocatalytic activity of the co.posites was attributed to the synergistic effect between Cd1-xZnxS and K2La2Ti3O10, which resulted in enhanced separation of photogenerated electrons and holes.

Monitoring Study of Long-Term Land Subsidence during Subway Operation in High-Density Urban Areas Based on DInSAR-GPS-GIS Technology and Numerical Simulation

During subway operation,various factors will cause long-term land subsidence,such as the vibration subsidence of foundation soil caused by train vibration load,inco.plete co.solidation deformation of foundation soil during tunnel construction,dense buildings and structures in the vicinity of the tunnel,and changes in water level in the stratum where the tunnel is *** monitoring of long-term land subsidence during subway operation in high-density urban areas differs from that in low-density urban construction *** former is the gathering point of the entire urban *** are many co.plex buildings around the project,busy road traffic,high pedestrian flow,and less vegetation *** existing items ***,monitoring distance is long,and providing early warning is *** study uses the 2.8 km operation line between Wulin Square station and Ding’an Road station of Hangzhou Subway Line 1 as an example to propose the integrated method of DInSAR-GPS-GIS technology and the key algorithm for long-term land subsidence ***,it selects multiscene image data to analyze long-termland subsidence of high-density urban areas during subway *** show that long-term land subsidence caused by the operation of Wulin Square station to Ding’an Road station of Hangzhou Subway Line 1 is small,with maximumsubsidence of 30.64 mm,and minimumsubsidence of 11.45 mm,and average subsidence ranging from 19.27 to 21.33 *** FLAC3D software was used to verify the monitoring situation,using the geological co.ditions of the soil in the study area and the tunnel profile to simulate the settlement under vehicle load,and the simulation results tended to be co.sistent with the monitoring situation.

Deformation co.trol criterion of shield tunnel under lateral relaxation of soft soil

Metro shield tunnels under the lateral relaxation of soil(LRS)are susceptible to significant lateral deformations,which jeopardizes the structural safety and ***,deformation co.trol standards for such situations have not been clearly ***,based on a specific case,a model test is co.ducted to realize the LRS of a shield tunnel in a sandy stratum to reveal its effect on segment ***,a deformation co.trol criterion is *** LRS is simulated by linearly reducing the loads applied to the lateral sides of the segment *** lateral unloading,the lateral earth pressure co.fficient on the segment decreases almost exponentially,and the structural deformation is characterized by horizontal expansion at the arch haunches and vertical shrinkage at the arch vault and arch *** on the mechanical pattern of the segment structure and the aco.stic emission,the deformation response of a segment can be classified into three stages:elastic and quasi-elastic,damage,and rapid deformation *** a shield tunnel with a diameter of approximately 6 m and under the lateral relaxation of sandy soil,when the ellipticity of the segment is less than 2.71%,reinforcement measures are not ***,the segment deformation must be co.trolled when the ellipticity is 2.71%to 3.12%;in this regard,an ellipticity of 3%can be used as a benchmark in similar engineering projects.
