Assessment of Tidal Range Energy Resources Based on Flux conservation in Jiantiao Bay, China

La Rance Tidal Range Power Station in France and Jiangxia Tidal Range Power Station in China have been both long-term successful commercialized operations as kind of role models for public at large for more than 40 years. The Sihwa Lake Tidal Range Power Station in South Korea has also developed to be the largest marine renewable power station with its installed capacity 254 MW since 2010. These practical applications prove that the tidal range energy as one kind of marine renewable energy exploitation and utilization technology is becoming more and more mature and it is used more and more widely. However, the assessment of the tidal range energy resources is not well developed nowadays. This paper summarizes the main problems in tidal range power resource assessment, gives a brief introduction to tidal potential energy theory, and then we present an analyzed and estimated method based on the tide numerical modeling. The technical characteristics and applicability of these two approaches are compared with each other. Furthermore, based on the theory of tidal range energy generation combined with flux conservation, this paper proposes a new assessment method that include a series of evaluation parameters and it can be easily operated to calculate the tidal range energy of the sea. Finally, this method is applied on assessment of the tidal range power energy of the Jiantiao Harbor in Zhejiang Province, China for demonstration and examination.

Resistance to powdery mildew in the pea cultivar Xucai 1 is conferred by the gene er1

Powdery mildew, caused by Erysiphe pisi D.C., is a major constraint to pea production worldwide. The pea cultivar Xucai 1 has shown high resistance to E. pisi under greenhouse and field conditions. The objectives of this study were to identify and characterize genes conferring resistance to powdery mildew in Xucai 1. Three crosses, Qizhen 76 × Xucai 1,Bawan 6 × Xucai 1, and Xucai 1 × Bawan 6, were made to generate populations for genetic analysis. The resistance to E. pisi and segregation ratios in the F_1, F_2, and F_(2:3)populations suggested a single recessive gene conferring the resistance of Xucai 1. Bulked segregant analysis was used to map the resistance gene using two F2 populations. The resistance gene was close to markers AD60 and c5 DNAmet on linkage group VI with genetic distances of9.9 c M and 15.4 c M in the Xucai 1 × Bawan 6 F_2 population and 8.7 c M and 8.1 c M in the Qizhen 76 × Xucai 1 F_2 population, respectively, suggesting that the resistance gene was an er1 allele. This hypothesis was confirmed by comparison of the c DNA sequences of the Ps MLO1 gene between the parents and the Ps MLO1 wild type. Three distinct types of transcripts in Xucai 1, characterized by a 129-bp deletion and 155- and 220-bp insertions,were detected, consistent with the structure of the er1-2 allele. We concluded that resistance in Xucai 1 was conferred by er1-2 and that its linked markers will be useful in pea breeding programs.

Background: Silk has numerous unique properties that make it a staple of textile manufacturing for several thousand years. However, wider applications of silk in modern have been stalled due to limitations of traditional silk produced by Bombyx mori. While silk is commonly produced by B. mori, several wild non-mulberry silkmoths--especially members of family Saturniidae--produce silk with superior properties that may be useful for wider applications. Further utilization of such silks is hampered by the non-domestication status or limited culturing population of wild silkworms. To date there is insufficient basic genomic or transcriptomic data on these organisms or their silk production. Results: We sequenced and compared the transcriptomes of silk glands of six Saturniidae wild silkmoth species through next-generation sequencing technology, identifying 37758 51734 silkmoth unigenes, at least 36.3% of which are annotated with an e-value less than 10-5. Sequence analyses of these unigenes identified a batch of genes specific to Saturniidae that are enriched in growth and development. Analyses of silk proteins including fibroin and sericin indicate intra-genus conservation and inter-genus diversification of silk protein features among the wild silkmoths, e.g., isoelectric points, hydrophilicity profile and amino acid composition in motifs of silk H-fibroin. Interestingly, we identified p25 in two of the silkmoths, which were previously predicted to be absent in Saturniidae. There are rapid evolutionary changes in sericin proteins, which might account for the highly heterogeneity of sericin in Saturniidae silkmoths. Within the six sikmoths, both colored-cocoon silkmoth specific transcripts and differentially expressed genes between the colored-cocoon and non-colored-cocoon silkmoths are significantly enriched in catalytic activity, especially transferase activity, suggesting potentially viable targets for future gene mining or genetic manipulation. 由于其独特的海陆过渡特性和极高的物质生产能力,红树林被列为国际湿地生态保护和生物多样性保护的重要对象.准确可靠的大尺度空间格局信息是红树林湿地保护与利用的重要基础.然而,现有大尺度数据集缺乏空间细节和合理的地理信息.在此,本文使用面向对象的随机森林分类方法,结合专家后处理,创建了具有时空一致性的10 m分辨率全球红树林数据集,命名为“高分辨率全球红树林(HGMF2020)”.然后,从保护、威胁和抵御海洋灾害的角度分析了全球红树林的状况.结果表明:(1) 2020年全球红树林面积为145068 km^(2),其中亚洲红树林面积最大(39.2%);(2)南亚红树林的保护比例较高,斑块整体性较高,而东亚和东南亚红树林面临严峻的威胁;(3)近99%的红树林斑块宽度大于100 m,表明几乎所有的红树林在抵御热带风暴等海洋灾害方面均有一定作用.本文提供了高精度全球红树林空间分布数据集,并分析其斑块信息,研究结果和讨论可为全球红树林生态系统的保护和合理利用提供决策依据,对于我国履行国际湿地公约、进行环境外交具有积极意义.

The community forest program in Nepal is one of the successful conservation *** species in a forest ecosystem have a fundamental role in maintaining the vegetation structure,complexity,and *** study analyzes the composition and regeneration of tree species in five community forests(CFs)of the sub-tropical region,Lamjung district,Nepal for preparing baseline data for long-term research projects and helps the community to manage their CFs *** species data were generated by stratified random sampling using 35 quadrate plots(size:20 m x 20 m).The density of adult trees in the forests ranged from 575 Ind ha^(-1)(Tilahar CF)to 1196 Ind/ha(Deurali Thadopakha CF).The sapling ranged from 2533 Ind ha^(-1)(Tilahar CF)to 4000 Ind ha^(-1)(Thuliban CF)and seedling from 19583 Ind ha^(-1)(Tilahar CF)to 37500 Ind ha^(-1)(Thuliban CF).Similarly,the adult tree basal area varied from 28.34 m^(2) ha^(-1)(Tilahar CF)to 49 m^(2) ha^(-1)(Deurali CF).The adult tree diversity index(Shannon-Weiner’s H)also ranged from 1.08(Thuliban CF)to 1.88(Tilahar CF).The tree species such as Sapium insigne,Ficus benghalensis,Lagerstroemia parviflore,Albizia *** Pinus roxburghii were weak *** general,the forests have good regeneration status except for Tilahar Community Forest,but based on the DBH size class distribution diagram,there is no sustainable *** the five community forests the DBH size of adults was significantly different,and the DBH of Deurali Thadopakha was the *** only few species have good regeneration and most of the species have weak,poor to no *** dominancy of fewer species like Shorea robusta,Castanopsis indica,and Schima wallichii accordingly maintain the overall regeneration of tree of CFs,so further plantation needs to be done inside the CF by triage accordingly those species whose regeneration has poor.

The utilization of CO_(2)-Enhanced Coal Bed Methane(CO_(2)-ECBM)technology is pivotal in realizing the environmentally responsible and efficient exploitation of Coalbed Methane(CBM)energy *** optimization of carbon capture,utilization,and storage(CCUS)for carbon reduction mandates a nuanced understanding of the diverse geological attributes present in CBM reserves *** estimations of CO_(2)-ECBM's carbon sequestration potential have predominantly relied on rudimentary empirical models,notably those proposed by the United States Department of Energy(DOE),which overlook the intrinsic geological conditions and the physicochemical properties of subsurface *** these limitations,our study implements the advanced DR/Henry mixed adsorption model in tandem with the Peng-Robinson equation of state(PR-EOS).This approach meticulously identifies the critical parameters governing the mass exchange ratios between CO_(2)and CH_(4),pertinent to in-situ geological ***,we have formulated a comprehensive carbon sequestration potential assessment *** innovative model adheres to the mass conservation principles for individual CO_(2)and CH_(4)components,taking into account the specific surface and stratigraphic conditions *** this refined methodology,we evaluated the CO_(2)-ECBM carbon sequestration potential of the 40 evaluation units of extensional,compressive,and cratonic continental coal bearing basins in China's three major temperature-pressure systems across different depth domains and coal ranks within 2000 *** findings reveal that the theoretical carbon sequestration capacity of China's continental coal-bearing basins is approximately 59.893 billion ***,the potential ECBM output stands at an estimated 4.92 trillion cubic meters,underscoring the substantial environmental and energy benefits inherent in harnessing CO_(2)-ECBM technology *** regional analysis revealed

Distribution patterns and industry planning of commonly used traditional Chinese medicinal plants in China

Diversity of Tropical Plant Resources in Yunnan Province and Its conservation

Tropical regions in Yunnan Province are endowed with abundant biodiversity resources, and the number and application range of plants are increasing gradually with local development. Based on the fi eld investigation, laboratory specimen identifi cation, establishment of voucher specimen and relevant documents, tropical plant resources in Yunnan Province were analyzed systematically. Tropical plant resources in Yunnan have great social and economic benefi ts, so we should explore reasonable development and sustainable utilization of local resources. Further exploration of the status of tropical plant resources in Yunnan, the risk factors and conservation measures were important.

Diet of the Assamese macaque Macaca assamensis in lime- stone habitats of Nonggang, China

To enhance our understanding of dietary adaptations in macaques we studied the diet of the Assamese macaque Macaca assamensis in limestone seasonal rain forests at Nonggang Nature Reserve, China from September 2005 to August 2006. Our results show that although macaques fed on many plant species, 85.2% of the diet came from only 12 species, of which a bamboo species, Indocalamus calcicolus contributed to 62% of the diet. Young leaves were staple food items （74.1% of the diet） for Assamese macaques at Nonggang, and constituted the bulk of monthly diets almost year-round, ranging from 44.9% （July） to 92.9% （May）. Young parts of Indocalamus calcicolus unexpanded leaves contributed to a large proportion of the young leaf diet in most months. Fruit accounted for only 17.4% of the diet, with a peak of consumption in July. We suggest that this highly fo- livorous diet may be related to the long lean season of fruit availability in limestone habitats as well as the utilization of cliffs of low fruit availability
