A micro structure porous cored octagonal photonic crystal fiber （P-OPCF） has been proposed to sense aqueous analysts （alcohol series） over a wavelength range of 0.80 μm to 2.0 μm. By implementing a full vectorial finite element method （FEM）, the numerical simulation on the proposed O-PCF has been analyzed. Numerical investigation shows that high sensitivity can be gained by changing the structural parameters. The obtained result shows the sensitivities of 66.78%, 67.66%, 68.34%, 68.72%, and 69.09%, and the confinement losses of 2.42×10^-10 dB/m, 3.28x×10^-11 dB/m, 1.21 ×10^-6 dB/m, 4.79×10^-10 dB/m, and 4.99×10^-9 dB/m at the 1.33 ktm wavelength for methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, and pentanol, respectively can satisfy the condition of much legibility to install an optical system. The effects of the varying core and cladding diameters, pitch distance, operating wavelength, and effective refractive index are also reported here. It reflects that a significant sensitivity and low confinement loss can be achieved by the proposed P-OPCE The proposed P-OPCF also covers the wavelength band （O＋E＋S＋C＋L＋U）. The investigation also exhibits that the sensitivity increases when the wavelength increases like SO-band〈SE-band 〈SS-band 〈 SC-band 〈SL-band 〈SU-band. This research observation has much pellucidity which has remarkable impact on the field of optical fiber sensor.

Unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) are highly focused and widely used in various domains, and the capability of autonomous aerial refueling(AAR) becomes increasingly important. Most of the research in this area concerns the verification of the algorithms while the experiments are conducted on the ground. In this work, in order to verify the vision system designed for boom approach AAR, an integrated platform is built and tested. The platform consists of a tanker UAV, a receiver UAV and a ground station. The pictures of the marker on the receiver UAV are captured by the binocular vision system on the tanker UAV and then used for flight control and boom control. Performance and feasibility of the platform are demonstrated by the real out-door flight tests, and the experimental results verified the feasibility and effectiveness of our developed binocular vision-based UAVs AAR.

To reduce the environmental impact of residential construction a holistic understanding of the building life cycle is *** Cycle Assessment(LCA)is well suited to the task of calculating the impacts associated with building products and systems so it is used in this study to assess building material options for a typical New Zealand house *** LCA and underlying data adhered to international standards and *** house designs comparing concrete and timber flooring,steel and timber framing and fibre cement and timber cladding were *** different designs were modified to have the same thermal performance using NZS4214:*** the difference in environmental performance can be attributed to the wooden building *** steel with timber framing results in a 20–30%decrease in global warming emissions,eutrophication and photochemical oxidation,but an increase in land and water *** concrete with timber flooring results in a similar trend but there is a significant reduction of solid *** fibre cement cladding with timber weatherboards yielded had little difference on the *** is an over-simplification to focus on environmental performance as other building product characteristics are important.

Nickel sulfide exhibits excellent catalytic activity in the electrochemical 2,5-hydroxymethylfurfural oxidation reaction(HMFOR).However,due to the polydispersity of nanoparticles,it is difficult to establish a clear structure-activity relationship at the atomic *** this work,we have successfully synthesized atomically precise Ni_(6)(PET)_(12)and Ni_(4)(PET)_(8)clusters(PET:2-phenylethanethiol)for ***^(2+)and S_(2)-with atomic ratio of 1:2 was mainly existed in Ni_(6)(PET)_(12)and Ni_(4)(PET)_(8)to form Ni-S *** electrochemical test results have suggested both Ni_(6)(PET)_(12)and Ni_(4)(PET)_(8)displayed outstanding electrocatalytic ability for *** Ni_(6)(PET)_(12)exhibited better electrocatalytic ability than Ni_(4)(PET)_(8)with higher current density,lower overpotential and faster reaction *** superior electrochemical ability of Ni_(6)(PET)_(12)may be due to the enhanced adsorption towards HMF molecule with strong interaction towards hydroxyl group and furan ***,it found that the Ni^(2+)species in Ni_(6)(PET)_(12)could rapidly oxidized into Ni^(3+)species,which could spontaneously capture electron and proton from HMF for *** theoretical calculation demonstrated that the Ni_(6)(PET)_(12)process lower free energy barrier than Ni_(4)(PET)_(8)to display excellent electrocatalytic *** work is of great significance for designing efficient electrocatalysts for HMFOR.

Pigeon-inspired optimization(PIO) is a new swarm intelligence optimization algorithm, which is inspired by the behavior of homing pigeons. A variant of pigeon-inspired optimization named multi-objective pigeon-inspired optimization(MPIO) is proposed in this paper. It is also adopted to solve the multi-objective optimization problems in designing the parameters of brushless direct current motors, which has two objective variables, five design variables, and five constraint variables. Furthermore, comparative experimental results with the modified non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm are given to show the feasibility, validity and superiority of our proposed MIPO algorithm.

With the high focus on autonomous aerial refueling(AAR), it becomes increasingly urgent to design efficient methods or algorithms for solving the AAR problems in complicated aerial environments. A vision-based technology for AAR is developed in this paper, and five monocular and binocular visual algorithms for pose estimation of the unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) are adopted and verified in this AAR system. The real-time on-board vision system is also designed for precise navigation in the UAVs docking phase. A series of out-door comparative experiments for different pose estimation algorithms are conducted to verify the feasibility and accuracy of the vision algorithms in AAR.

In this paper, a novel approach is proposed for solving the parameter design problem of brushless direct current(BLDC) motor, which is based on the membrane computing(MC) and pigeon-inspired optimization(PIO) algorithm. The motor parameter design problem is converted to an optimization problem with five design parameters and six constraints. The PIO algorithm is introduced into the framework of MC for improving the global convergence performance. The hybrid algorithm can improve the population diversity with better searching efficiency. Comparative simulations are conducted, and comparative results are given to show the feasibility and effectiveness of our proposed hybrid algorithm for high nonlinear optimization problems.

In this paper, a robust attitude control system based on fractional order sliding mode control and dynamic inversion approach is presented for the reusable launch vehicle RLV during the reentry phase. By introducing the fractional order sliding surface to replace the integer order one, we design robust outer loop controller to compensate the error introduced by inner loop controller designed by dynamic inversion approach. To take the uncertainties of aerodynamic parameters into account, stochastic robustness design approach based on the Monte Carlo simulation and Pigeon-inspired optimization is established to increase the robustness of the controller. Some simulation results are given out which indicate the reliability and effectiveness of the attitude control system. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.
