The ceria-zirconia compound oxide-supported noble metal Pd(Pd@CZ)is widely used in three-way catalyst.Moreover,the surface structure of CZ plays an important role in catalytic activity of Pd.However,how to regulate the surface structure of CZ and clarify the structure–activity relationship is still a challenge.In this paper,a strategy is proposed to develop high activity Pd@CZ nanocatalysts by tuning Y doping sites in CZ.The precipitate-deposition method is developed to prepare the novel Ce_(0.485)Zr_(0.485)Y_(0.03)O_(2) composite with surface doping of Y(CZ-Y-S).In addition,the Pd@CZ-Y-S(Pd supported on CZ-Y-S)exhibits superior catalytic activity for HC,co,and NO oxide,wherein,for co and C_(3)H_(6) oxidation,the low-temperature activity of Pd@CZ-Y-S is still 20%higher than that of Pd@CZ-Y-B(Y bulk doping)and commercial Pd@CZ after 1000℃/4 h aging.The effect mechanism is further studied by density functional theory(DFT)calculation.compared with Pd@CZ-Y-B,Pd@CZ-Y-S shows the lower co oxide reaction energy barriers due to the weaker adsorption strength of O2.The Y surface doping strategy could provide valuable insights for the development of highly efficient Pd@CZ catalyst with extensive applications.

Tungsten separation behavior on preparation of high-purity cerium by combined vacuum gravity sedimentation-directional solidification

In light of the difficult removal of harmful impurity tungsten(W)in Ce metal,in this paper a combined vacuum gravity sedimentation-directional solidification method was innovatively designed and the W separation behavior was investigated.By reducing the electron beam power instantly and gradually at reduction rates of 1,3 and 5 kW/min,it is found that W is enriched at the bottom of ingots as the melt solidifies.The enrichment effect is much better than that of single purification method and the enrichment degree increases as the beam reduction rate decreases,attributed to the k0(W)>1 andρ(W)>ρ(Ce).Overall,the minimum content of W impurity can decrease from 630 to 0.1 ppm at the top of the ingot,and the purity of Ce increases from 99.932 wt%to 99.995 wt%by this combined method.Additionally,this paper provides a new method for the removal of high density and low evaporation coefficient impurities in low vapor pressure rare earth metals.

Occurrence and vertical distribution of aluminum and rare earths in weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ore:Effect of soil solution pH and clay minerals

Weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ore is crucial source of medium and heavy rare earths,with in-situ leaching being the most common mining method.The high contents of impurity of aluminum in the leach solution are a significant challenge for the subsequent enrichment process of rare earths.A comprehensive understanding of the occurrences and vertical distribution of aluminum and rare earths within typical vertical profiles can provide valuable insights into entire design of the in-situ leaching.This paper improves a five-step sequential extraction method to analyze the occurrence and vertical distribution of rare earths and aluminum in vertical profiles from Chongzuo and Longyan.Experimental results demonstrate that soil solution pH is the main factor affecting the vertical distribution of ionexchangeable rare earths.Both samples have distinct areas of enrichment for ion-exchangeable rare earths or aluminum.Ion-exchangeable rare earths are primary concentrated in the middle and lower parts of the ore layer(4-13 m in Chongzuo,14-22 m in Longyan),while the ion-exchangeable aluminum is mainly enriched in the upper part of the ore layer(1-5 m in Chongzuo,and 2-14 m in Longyan).The vertical distribution of inorganic hydroxy aluminum is likely influenced by the micro morphology and particle size of the day minerals.The inorganic hydroxy aluminum concentration in Chongzuo samples decreases continuously from 415.65 to 120.95 mg/kg with increasing sampling depth,whereas the concentration in Longyan samples(110.55-171.27 mg/kg) is almost independence with sampling depth.These results provide direct guidance for the entire design of the injection well depth and the leaching parameters,thereby inhibiting the leaching of impurity of aluminum and lower the consumption of leaching agent.

Effect of phase transition during roasting of Mountain Pass rare earth concentrate on leaching efficiency of rare earths

To find a greener and more economical approach for treating the Mountain Pass rare earth concentrate(MPREC),a novel "combination Method",including the processes of oxidizing roasting,HCI leaching and sulfuric acid roasting,is proposed in this research.In this paper,the effect of phase transition behavior in hydrochloric acid leaching during oxidative roasting at 450-600℃ was studied.During roasting,the bastnasite in MPREC is decomposed into CeLa_(2)O_(3)F_(3) and(Ce_(0.33),La_(0.33),Ca_(0.33))O_(1.5).As the CeLa_(2)O_(3)F_(3) phase has the fluorine-fixation effect,the generated CeLa_(2)O_(3)F_(3) phase can not be dissolved by HCI after roasting at 500 and 550℃,but it can be decomposed by HCI after roasting at over 600℃,resulting in the improvement of the leaching rate of total F element.The maximum leaching efficiency of rare earth elements(REEs) can reach 70.32 wt% at the roasting temperature of 550℃.After roasting at over 600℃,some F^-ions in the solution combined with RE^(3+) to form REF_(3) precipitate and enter the leaching residue,and the others are in the form of [CeF_(3)]^+ in the leaching solution during leaching,therefore,the leaching efficiency of non-ce rium REEs decreases while that of cerium element increases.This work provides basic research for optimizing the actual production process of MPREC.

The GECAM series of satellites utilizes LaBr_(3)(Ce),LaBr_(3)(Ce,Sr),and NaI(Tl)crystals as sensitive materials for gamma-ray detectors(GRDs).To investigate the nonlinearity in the detection of low-energy gamma rays and address the errors in the calibration of the E-C relationship,comprehensive tests and comparative studies of the three aforementioned crystals were conducted using compton electrons,radioactive sources,and mono-energetic X-rays.The nonlinearity test results of the compton electrons and X-rays demonstrated substantial differences,with all three crystals presenting a higher nonlinearity for X/-rays than for compton electrons.Despite the LaBr_(3)(Ce)and LaBr_(3)(Ce,Sr)crystals having higher absolute light yields,they exhibited a noticeable nonlinear decrease in the light yield,especially at energies below 400 keV.The NaI(Tl)crystal demonstrated an"excess"light output in the 6-200 keV range,reaching a maximum"excess"of 9.2%at 30 keV in the X-ray testing and up to 15.5%at 14 keV during compton electron testing,indicating a significant advantage in the detection of low-energy gamma rays.Furthermore,we explored the underlying causes of the observed nonlinearity in these crystals.This study not only elucidates the detector responses of GECAM,but also initiates a comprehensive investigation of the nonlinearity of domestically produced lanthanum bromide and sodium iodide crystals.

To get a systematic understanding about dependence of deposition conditions on properties of Gd films,a series of Gd films were prepared under different Ar gas pressures:0.5,0.7,1.0,and 1.5 Pa,and another series of Gd films were prepared under different substrate temperatures:25,100,200,350,and 500℃.The effects of the deposition time,Ar pressure,and substrate temperature on microstructures and crystal orientation were investigated by grazingincidence X-ray diffraction(GIXRD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The experimental results show that low Ar pressure and plenty deposition time will contribute to the formation of Gd hcp phase,which has better magnetic properties such as higher Curie temperature and bigger magnetic moment,and high substrate temperature can diminish the inner stress in Gd films and promote lattice parameters closer to those of the ideal Gd hcp-structure.

It is approved that grain boundary diffusion is an effective method to increase the coercivity of hot-deformed NdFeB magnet.In this paper,a new rare earth-free grain boundary diffusion source of hot-deformed magnet was studied.AlCuZn powders blended with commercial NdFeB powders were hot-compacted to obtain fully dense magnets,hot-deformed into anisotropic magnets and finally annealed to gain better homogeneity.Initially,the influences of annealing temperature and time on the magnetic properties of the specimens were studied and the optimal parameters of 600℃ and 60 min were achieved.Then,by changing the proportions of AlCuZn grain boundary diffusion,the coercivity,remanence and maximum energy product of the hot-deformed NdFeB magnets were examined.The result showed that with 1.0 wt%AlCuZn grain boundary diffusion and annealing at 600℃ for 60 min,the coercivity rose from 828 to 987 kA·m^(-1) without deteriorating the remanence.Microstructural analysis confirmed that AlCuZn diffused into the intergranular boundaries and the magnet diffused with AlCuZn possessed finer grains than that of without AlCuZn grain boundary diffusion.

A systematical investigation was carried out on structure and magnetic properties in SmFe_(9-x)V_(x)(x=0.4,0.8,1.2)compounds prepared by a single-roller quenching method.The high cool-down rate leads to metastable TbCu_(7) phase in the parent compound,which gradually transforms into equilibrium ThMn_(12) structure with V-doping content increasing.The Curie temperature increases from 470 to 590 K with V doping,which is consistent with the phase transformation.Surprisingly,simultaneous increase in both coercivity and remanence is resulted by V doping,reaching the highest value of 685 kA·m^(-1)and 44.8×10^(-3)A·m^(2)·g^(-1)in x=1.2 compound,respectively.This phenomenon can be explained by the combination of phase transformation and intergranular exchange coupling throughδM-H plots.

In this paper,we reported a surface acoustic wave(SAW)device prepared and optimized by piezoelectric films containing AIN,AIScN(Sc-20 at%)and AIScN(Sc-30 at%)by reactive magnetron sputtering using Al and AISc alloy targets.We calculated the material intrinsic electromechanical coupling coefficient k_(t)^(2) of AlScN(Sc-20 at%)and AlScN(Sc-30 at%)which are much better than AIN.It can be explained by the lattice softening.Furtherly,the results were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)observation of the microstructure.Then the SAW devices based on three thin films were tested by vector network analysis obtaining the device equivalent electro mechanical coupling coefficient k_(eff)^(2).The value of AIScN(Sc-20 at%)k_(eff)^(2),which equals to 1.94%,is higher than that of AIN and AIScN(Sc-30 at%)while the value of AIScN(Sc-30 at%)k_(t)^(2) is higher than that of others.It is shown in our study that the crystallinity and orientation of the material still have a greater impact on k_(eff)^(2) but it does not have influence on k_(t)^(2) in the actual device preparation process.

The effect of annealing temperature(TA) at600-900℃ on structure and magnetic properties of the melt-spun Sm_(8.6)Fe_(85.9)co_(4.3)Zr_(1.2) alloys and its nitrides was investigated.Results show that the melt-spun powder is TbCu7-type SmFe_(9) single phase.X-ray diffractometer(XRD) Rietveld refinement shows that the lattice parameter a increases,c and c/a decrease with the increase in T_(A) at600-700℃.This is due to the tendency of nitrogen entering into the 3f site(1/2,0,0) during the nitridation process,which is good for the magnetic properties.The phase transforms from TbCu7-type SmFe_(9) to Th_(2)Zn_(17)-type Sm_(2)Fe_(17) at above 800 0C.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images show that the amount of surface defects of melt-spun powder which are harmful for magnetic properties decreases at first and then increases as TA increases.The coercivity(H_(cj)) and maximum magnetic energy product((BH)_(max)) of its nitrides increase first and then decrease as a function of TA.And the remanence(B_(r))always shows a decrease.The optimal magnetic properties of H_(cj)=748 kA·m^(-1),B_(r)=0.92 T,(BH)_(max)=118 kJ·m^(-3) are obtained by annealing at 675℃ for 2 h and then nitriding at 460℃ for 10 h.
