Hepatitis A virus(HAV)live-attenuated vaccine H2 strain has been approved for clinical use for decades with ideal safety profiles in nonhuman primate models and ***,type Ⅰ interferon(IFN)receptor-deficient mice were shown to be susceptible to HAV ***,we sought to determine the infection and replication dynamics of the H2 in Ifnar^(-/-)mice that lack type Ⅰ IFN *** intravenous injection,the H2 failed to cause obvious clinical symptoms in Ifnar^(-/-)mice,and no significant upregulation in serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT)levels was ***,the histopathological examination showed that there were significant focal infiltrations of lymphocytes and neutrophils in the portal area,but no focal necrosis was observed in liver *** RNAs sustained in the liver,and the infectious virus could be recovered from the liver tissue until 42 days *** importantly,H2 infection induced obvious viremia and persistent viral shedding in *** addition,robust HAV-specific humoral immune responses were induced in Ifnar^(-/-)***,our study revealed the safety profile of H2 in Ifnar^(-/-)mice,which not only helps understand the attenuation mechanism of H2,but also expands the application of the Ifnar^(-/-)mouse model for HAV studies.

Dynesys dynamic stabilization system for the lumbar degenerative disease： a preliminary report from China

Background Dynesys dynamic stabilization system in 2007. Therefore, it was a new technique for Ch about Dynesys in China. The objective of this study degenerative disease in China. was first implanted in patients in 1994, and introduced to China nese orthopedics and hence necessary to collect clinical data was to report the preliminary results of Dynesys for the lumbar Methods Twenty-seven patients were treated with the Dynesys between July 2007 and January 2009. The diagnosis included degenerative spondylolisthesis （12 cases）, degenerative spinal stenosis （nine cases）, and lumbar intervertebral disc herniation （six cases）. Back pain and leg pain were evaluated using 100-mm visual analog scales （VAs）. The Oswestry Disability Index （ODI） was used to evaluate the patients＇ function. The intervertebral disc height and range of motion at the operative level were taken on radiographs. Results All the patients were followed-up, with an average of （22.40±4.23） months （range 15±32 months）. VAs of back pain and leg pain were improved significantly （P 〈0.05） at foUow-up. The ODI scores were reduced from （62.58±12.01）% preoperatively to （15.01±5.71）% at follow-up （P 〈0.05）. The preoperative mean height of the intervertebral disc was （11.21±1.58） mm （range 8.5±13.8 mm） and mean was （10.10±1.78） mm （range 7.0±13.4 mm） at follow-up （P 〈0.05）. The mean range of motion of the implanted segment was （6.00±1.79）° （range 2.5-9.3°） preoperatively and （5.47±1.27）° （range 2.9±7.8°） at follow-up （P=0.11）. Conclusions The preliminary results of Dynesys for the lumbar degenerative disease in China are similar to the published results of other countries. It can significantly improve the clinic symptoms and preserved motion at the level of implantation. However, the long-term follow-up data need to be collected.

Factors associated with delayed intracerebral hemorrhage after superficial temporal artery-middle cerebral artery bypass in stenoocclusive cerebrovascular diseases

Background Intra-cerebral hemorrhage （ICH） is a devastating complication that can result from superficial temporal artery-middle cerebral artery （sTA-MCA） bypass in patients undergoing treatment for steno-occlusive cerebrovascular disease （CVD）.There is a clinical need to find the possible risk factors to prevent ICH,as it is a significant cause of mortality and *** aim of the study was to investigate the factors associated with delayed ICH after sTA-MCA bypass in patients with steno-occlusive *** We retrospectively analyzed the records of 163 patients seen from 2002 to 2011 with sTA-MCA bypass for steno-occlusive cerebrovascular diseases at the Department of Neurosurgery,Xuan Wu Hospital,*** and clinical data,including age,gender,vascular risk factors,preoperative syndrome,preoperative National Institutes of Health stroke scale （NIHss）,ipsilateral ischemic lesions,classification of steno-occlusive CVDs,donor branches of sTA,graft patency,postoperative hypertension,and postoperative-increased MCA velocity were recorded and *** Logistic regression served to identify factors associated with delayed ICH after sTA-MCA *** We identified 8 （4.9%） patients with delayed ICH after sTA-MCA *** with hypertension,preoperative stroke,ipsilateral ischemic lesions,postoperative hypertension and postoperative-increased MCA velocity were significantly more prone to experiencing delayed ICH after sTA-MCA *** regression analysis shows ipsilateral ischemic lesions,postoperative hypertension,and postoperative-increased MCA velocity remained independent predictors for delayed ICH after sTA-MCA *** Despite the varied associated factors in patients with steno-occlusive CVDs,ipsilateral ischemic lesions,postoperative hypertension,and postoperative-increased MCA velocity could be associated with delayed ICH after sTAMCA bypass.

surgical treatment of severe scoliosis and kyphoscoliosis by stages

Background Although previous reports had reported the use of temporary internal distraction as an aid to correct severe scoliosis,two-stage surgery strategy （less invasive internal distraction followed by posterior correction and instrumentation） has never been reported in the treatment of patients with severe spinal *** study aimed to report the results of the surgical treatment of severe scoliosis and kyphoscoliosis by two-stage and analyse the safety and efficacy of this surgical strategy in the treatment of severe spinal *** A total of 15 patients with severe scoliosis,kyphoscoliosis or kyphosis who underwent two-stage surgeries （less invasive internal distraction followed by posterior correction and instrumentation） were studied based on hospital *** radiographs and radiographs taken after first surgery （internal distraction by two small incisions）,before second surgery （posterior correction,instrumentation and fusion）,one week after second surgery and final follow-up were *** were analyzed by age,gender,major coronal curve magnitude,flexibility of major curve,major sagittal curve magnitude before first surgery,after first surgery,before second surgery,after second surgery and at final *** related to two-stage surgeries were noted in each *** The average major curve magnitude was 129.4° （range,95° to 175°）,reduced 58.9° or 45.4% after first stage surgery and reduced 30.6° or 24.6% after second stage *** loss of correction during the interval between two surgeries was 7.1%.The total major coronal curve correction was 81.4°or 62.9%.At the final follow up,the average loss of correction of major coronal curve was 3.9° and the final average correction rate was 59.7%.The average major sagittal curve magnitude was 80.3° （range,30° to 170°）,and the total major sagittal curve correction was 48.2°.Loss of correction averaged 4.0° for major sagittal curve and the final correctio

Acute Bilateral Optic Neuritis in Active Ankylosing spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis （As）, which primarily affects the sacroiliac joints, spine, and enthuses, is a chronic inflammatory rheumatic disorder. Acute anterior uveitis is the most common ophthalmologic involvement, whereas optic neuritis （ON） rarely coexists with As.r^j ON is an immune-mediated inflammation of the optic nerve, which could be the initiated symptom of multiple sclerosis （Ms） or neuromyelitis optica （NMO）. Bilateral simultaneous ON with long enhanced optic nerve lesions in magnetic resonance imaging （MRI） was considered as features of NMO spectrum disorders （NMOsDs）. However, comprehensive review of the current literature showed little evidence of As as an accompanied autoimmune condition in NMO,121 and the specific biomarker aquaporin-4 antibody （AQP4-Ab） was negative in our patient. In the current report, we present the first case of ON with active As in a chinese male patient. The association between the two diseases remains to be evaluated.

Effect of periodontal treatment on glycosylated hemoglobin levels in elderly patients with periodontal disease and type 2 diabetes
