Rheological and stability analysis of cement pastes incorporating silica-based wastes

This study investigates the influence of waste characteristics,especially zeta potential,on the properties of cement pastes and *** focus is to evaluate the impact of the zeta potential of cement particles and waste materials on the sedimentation speed,rheology,and hardening time of stabilized cement *** Cement II F 40,retarder additive,silica,and fly ash were used in the *** pastes were prepared,and during the stabilization period,their rheological properties and pH were *** zeta potential and sedimentation speed of the cement and waste particles were measured at the pH that the pastes presented during the entire stabilization *** the stabilization period,the pastes were subjected to the hardening time *** zeta potential analyses revealed diverse values for the different powder types,with the cement particles exhibiting a zeta potential of−3.0 mV,the silica particles exhibiting−10.5 mV,and the fly ash particles exhibiting−20.3 *** influence of the high zeta potential modulus was observed on the sedimentation speed,with the solution containing fly ash exhibiting a speed of 40.01μm/s,whereas the solution containing only cement exhibited a speed of 99.38μm/*** the pastes,the results indicate that the presence of fly ash particles with a significantly negative zeta potential led to a 16%reduction in hardening time compared to particles with a lower modulus of zeta *** tests showed that the inclusion of fly ash particles prevented the formation of *** the zeta potential influenced agglomerate formation and hardening time,it was found to have no effect on yield stress or viscosity.

Polygalacturonase inhibiting proteins(PGIPs)are plant proteins involved in the inhibition of polygalacturonases(PGs),cell-wall degrading enzymes often secreted by phytopathogenic ***,we confirmed that PGIP2 from Phaseolus vulgaris(PvPGIP2)can inhibit the growth of Aspergillus niger and Botrytis cinerea on agar *** this study,we further validated the feasibility of using PGIP as an environmental and ecological friendly agent to prevent fungal infection *** found that application of either purified PGIP(full length PvPGIP2 or truncated tPvPGIP2_5-8),or PGIP-secreting Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains can effectively inhibit fungal growth and necrotic lesions on tobacco *** also examined the effective amount and thermostability of PGIP when applied on plants.A concentration of 0.75 mg/mL or higher can significantly reduce the area of *** *** activity of full-length PvPGIPs is not affected after incubation at various temperatures ranging from􀀀20 to 42◦C for 24 h,while truncated tPvPGIP2_5-8 lost some efficacy after incubation at 42◦***,we have also examined the efficacy of PGIP on tomato *** the purified PvPGIP2 proteins were applied to tomato fruit inoculated with *** at a concentration of roughly 1.0 mg/mL,disease inci-dence and area of disease had reduced by more than half compared to the controls without PGIP *** study explores the potential of PGIPs as exogenously applied,eco-friendly fungal control agents on fruit and vegetables post-harvest.

Negative Stiffness Mechanism on An Asymmetric Wave Energy Converter by Using A Weakly Nonlinear Potential Model

Salter's duck,an asymmetrical wave energy converter(WEC)device,showed high efficiency in extracting energy from 2D regular waves in the past;yet,challenges remain for fluctuating wave *** can potentially be addressed by adopting a negative stiffness mechanism(NSM)in WEC devices to enhance system efficiency,even in highly nonlinear and steep 3D waves.A weakly nonlinear model was developed which incorporated a nonlinear restoring moment and NSM into the linear formulations and was applied to an asymmetric WEC using a time domain potential flow *** model was initially validated by comparing it with published experimental and numerical computational fluid dynamics *** current results were in good agreement with the published *** was found that the energy extraction increased in the range of 6%to 17%during the evaluation of the effectiveness of the NSM in regular *** irregular wave conditions,specifically at the design wave conditions for the selected test site,the energy extraction increased by 2.4%,with annual energy production increments of approximately *** findings highlight the potential of NSM in enhancing the performance of asymmetric WEC devices,indicating more efficient energy extraction under various wave conditions.

Learning feature alignment and dual correlation for few‐shot image classification

Few‐shot image classification is the task of classifying novel classes using extremely limited labelled *** perform classification using the limited samples,one solution is to learn the feature alignment(FA)information between the labelled and unlabelled sample *** FA methods use the feature mean as the class prototype and calculate the correlation between prototype and unlabelled features to learn an alignment ***,mean prototypes tend to degenerate informative features because spatial features at the same position may not be equally important for the final classification,leading to inaccurate correlation ***,the authors propose an effective intraclass FA strategy that aggregates semantically similar spatial features from an adaptive reference prototype in low‐dimensional feature space to obtain an informative prototype feature map for precise correlation ***,a dual correlation module to learn the hard and soft correlations was developed by the *** module combines the correlation information between the prototype and unlabelled features in both the original and learnable feature spaces,aiming to produce a comprehensive cross‐correlation between the prototypes and unlabelled *** both FA and cross‐attention modules,our model can maintain informative class features and capture important shared features for *** results on three few‐shot classification benchmarks show that the proposed method outperformed related methods and resulted in a 3%performance boost in the 1‐shot setting by inserting the proposed module into the related methods.

A short climatology of black and brown carbon and their sources at a suburban site impacted by smoke in Brazil

Emissions from biomass burning challenge efforts to curb air pollution in cities downwind of fire-prone regions,as they contribute large amounts of brown carbon(Br C)and black carbon(BC)*** investigated the patterns of Br C and BC concentrations using Aethalometer data(atλ=370 and 880 nm,respectively)spanning four years at a site impacted by the outflow of *** data required to be post processed for the shadowing effect since,without correction,concentrations would be between 29%and 35%*** Br C concentrations were consistently higher than the BC concentrations,indicating the prevalence of aerosols from biomass *** results were supported by the Angstrom coefficient(A_(370/880)),with values predominantly larger than 1(mean±standard deviation:1.25±0.31).A_(370/880)values below 1 were more prevalent during the wet season,which suggests a contribution from fossil fuel *** observed sharp Br C and BC seasonal signals,with mean minimum concentrations of 0.40μg/m^(3)and 0.36μg/m^(3),respectively,in the wet season,and mean maximum concentrations of 2.05μg/m^(3)and 1.53μg/m^(3)in the dry *** largest concentrations were observed when northerly air masses moved over regions with a high density of fire *** burning of residential solid waste and industrial combustion caused extreme Br C and BC concentrations under favourable wind *** neither pollutant is included in any ambient air quality standards,our results suggest that transboundary smoke may hamper efforts to meet the World Health Organization guidelines for fine particles.

Assessing mixing uniformity in microreactors via in-line spectroscopy

Mixing behavior is critical for enhancing the selectivity of fast chemical reactions in microreactors.A high Reynolds number(Re)improves the mixing rate and selectivity of the reactions,but some exceptions of increasing side product yield with the higher Re have been *** study investigated the mixing uniformity in microreactors with in-line UV-vis spectroscopy to clarify the relationship between reaction selectivity and chaotic mixing with the higher Re.A colorization experiment of thymolphthalein in an acidic solution was conducted with an excess acid amount to the base to indicate a non-uniformly mixed ***-uniformity significantly increased with *** the same time,the degree of mixing,which was measured by a usual decolorization experiment,showed that the mixing rate increased with *** in-line analysis of the Villermaux-Dushman reaction during the mixing clarified that side product yield significantly increased with Re at around 300 and then decreased at around *** results suggest the compensation effect between the mixing uniformity and mixing rate on the selectivity of the mixing-sensitive *** mixing,characterized by a larger Re,can disturb mixing uniformity and,in some cases,decrease reaction selectivity.

In recent years,sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)have emerged as a promising technology for energy storage systems(ESSs)because of the abundance and affordability of ***,metal selenides have been studied as promising high-performance conversion-type anode materials in *** them,nickel se-lenide(NiSe_(2))has received considerable attention due to its high theoretical capacity of 495 mAh g^(-1)and ***,it still suffers from poor cycling stability because of the low electrochemical reactivity,large volume expansion,and structural instability during *** address these challenges,NiSe_(2)nanoparticles encapsulated in N-doped graphitic carbon fibers(NiSe_(2)@NGCF)were synthesized by using ZIF-8 as a ***_(2)@NGCF showed a high discharge capacity of 558.3 mAh g^(-1)with a fading rate of 0.14%per cycle after 200 cycles at 0.5 A g^(-1)in 0.01-3.0 *** a very high current density of 5 A g^(-1),the capacity still displayed excellent long-term cycle life with a discharge capacity of 406.1 mAh g^(-1)with a fading rate of 0.016%per cycle after 3000 *** mechanism of the excellent electrochem-ical performance of NiSe_(2)@NGCF was thoroughly investigated by ex-situ XRD,TEM,and SEM ***,NiSe_(2)@NGCF//Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)full-cell also delivered an excellent reversible capacity of 378.7 mAh g^(−1)at 0.1 A g^(−1)after 50 cycles,demonstrating its potential for practical application in SIBs.

Enhancing Safety in Autonomous Vehicle Navigation:An Optimized Path Planning Approach Leveraging Model Predictive Control

This paper explores the application of Model Predictive Control(MPC)to enhance safety and efficiency in autonomous vehicle(AV)navigation through optimized path *** evolution of AV technology has progressed rapidly,moving from basic driver-assistance systems(Level 1)to fully autonomous capabilities(Level 5).Central to this advancement are two key functionalities:Lane-Change Maneuvers(LCM)and Adaptive Cruise Control(ACC).In this study,a detailed simulation environment is created to replicate the road network between Nantun andWuri on National Freeway No.1 in *** MPC controller is deployed to optimize vehicle trajectories,ensuring safe and efficient *** onboard sensors,including vehicle cameras and millimeterwave radar,are used to detect and respond to dynamic changes in the surrounding environment,enabling real-time decision-making for LCM and *** simulation resultshighlight the superiority of the MPC-based approach in maintaining safe distances,executing controlled lane changes,and optimizing fuel ***,the MPC controller effectively manages collision avoidance,reduces travel time,and contributes to smoother traffic flow compared to traditional path planning *** findings underscore the potential of MPC to enhance the reliability and safety of autonomous driving in complex traffic *** research will focus on validating these results through real-world testing,addressing computational challenges for real-time implementation,and exploring the adaptability of MPC under various environmental *** study provides a significant step towards achieving safer and more efficient autonomous vehicle navigation,paving the way for broader adoption of MPC in AV systems.

Density-based ship detection in SAR images:Extension to a self-similarity perspective

Nonlocal self-similarity is an important property of Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)images to characterize the repetitiveness of features embodied by SAR images within nonlocal areas and has been used for enhancement of SAR *** SAR ship detectors often independently handle small sub-images cropped from a large marine SAR image and do not exploit the nonlocal self-similarity *** this paper,we propose a new ship detector from the perspective of nonlocal self-similarity in SAR images to improve the ship detection performance,basically including three stages:prescreening,intra-cue calculation,and inter-cue *** the prescreening stage,we design a new Histogram-based Density(HD)feature to rapidly select candidate sub-images potentially containing ship targets from a large SAR *** the intra-cue calculation stage,target cues within a single candidate sub-image are *** the inter-cue calculation stage,thanks to the nonlocal self-similarity among different candidate sub-images in terms of density features,we innovatively extract a weighted superpixel-HD map to obtain accumulated intracues across all the candidate ***,for each candidate sub-image,we fuse its inter-cue and intra-cue to obtain final detection *** results based on real SAR images show that our newly proposed method provides a better target-to-clutter contrast and ship detection performance than those of other state-of-the-art detection approaches.

The Investigation of Data Voting Algorithm for Train Air-Braking System Based on Multi-Classification SVM and ANFIS

The pressure data of the train air braking system is of great significance to accurately evaluate its operation state. In order to overcome the influence of sensor fault on the pressure data of train air braking system, it is necessary to design a set of sensor fault-tolerant voting mechanism to ensure that in the case of a pressure sensor fault, the system can accurately identify and locate the position of the faulty sensor, and estimate the fault data according to other normal data. A fault-tolerant mechanism based on multi-classification support vector machine(SVM) and adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system(ANFIS) is introduced. Multi-classification SVM is used to identify and locate the system fault state, and ANFIS is used to estimate the real data of the fault sensor. After estimation, the system will compare the real data of the fault sensor with the ANFIS estimated data. If it is similar,the system will recognize that there is a false alarm and record it. Then the paper tests the whole mechanism based on the real data. The test shows that the system can identify the fault samples and reduce the occurrence of false alarms.
