Tropical cyclone genesis potential index(GPI) is a useful metric for gauging the performance of global climate models in the simulation of tropical cyclone(TC) *** performance of LASG/IAP AGCM GAMIL2.0 in the simulation of GPI over the western North Pacific(WNP) is assessed in this *** GPI depends on large scale environmental factors including low-level vorticity at 850 hPa,relative humidity at 700 hPa,vertical wind shear between 850 and 200 hPa,maximum potential intensity(MPI),and vertical velocity,the bias of GPI simulation is discussed from the perspective of thermal and dynamical *** results are compared with the ECMWF reanalysis data(ERA40).The analyses show that both the climatological spatial pattern and seasonal cycle of GPI over the WNP are reasonably simulated by GAMIL2.0,but due to the overestimation of relative humidity,the simulated GPI extends to 170°E,about 10°east to that in the reanalysis *** is demonstrated that the bias in the simulation of monsoon trough,which is about 5°north to the reanalysis,leads to an overestimation of GPI during May-June and September-October,but an underestimation during *** the WNP,the response of GPI to ENSO is well captured by GAMIL2.0,including the eastward(westward) shift of TC genesis location during El Nin o(La Nin a) ***,the anomalous convective center associated with El Nin o shifts westward about 20°in comparison to ERA40,which leads to the biases in both vertical velocity and relative *** eventually result in the westward deflection of the boundary between the positive and negative GPI centers along 20°-30°*** results from this study provide useful clues for the future improvement of GAMIL2.0.

We present our 12CO and 13CO mapping observations of SNR IC 443 interacting with molecular *** is the first largescale high-resolution 13CO mapping observation in the surrounding *** morphologies of IC 443 in 12CO and 13 CO are compared with the optical,infrared,Spitzer far-infrared,X-ray,and neutral atomic gas(HI).We also make comparison and analysis in the kinematics,using the date-cubes of 12CO,13CO and HI,to help distinguish the complicated gas motions in the shocked *** on the work of Wang & Scoville(1992),we present a new model to explain the coexistence of multiple shocks with different speeds in a pc-scale region at the central clump *** test this new model by analyzing the HI and CO distribution in both velocity and space *** also establish the relationship between the dissociation rate of shocked molecular gas and the shock velocity in this ***,we derive the optical depth of 12CO with the 13CO spectra in clump B,and discuss the validity of the assumption of optically thin emission for the shocked 12CO.

Middle–Upper Ordovician(Darriwilian–Early Katian) Positive Carbon Isotope Excursions in the Northern Tarim Basin, Northwest China: Implications for Stratigraphic Correlation and Paleoclimate

Three positive carbon isotope excursions are reported from Middle-Upper Ordovician in Tahe oil-gas field, northern Tarim Basin. Based on conodont biostratigraphy, the Middle Darriwilian Isotope Carbon Excursion（MDICE） and the Guttenberg Carbon Isotope Excursion（GICE） are identified from Darriwilian to Early Katian by the aid of whole-rock carbon isotope data from two well cores. Positive excursion within conodont Pygodus anserinus zone is developed in Early Sandbian, and the fluctuation range is no less than MDICE. Because the range of this excursion in the generalized global carbon isotope curve is short, previous studies paid little attention to it, and named Early Sandbian Isotope Carbon Excursion（ESICE） in this paper. Furthermore, these positive excursions are not directly related to sea level fluctuations and the MDICE and GICE identified in northern Tarim can be globally correlated to that in southern China, North America, South America, and Europe. The Saergan Fm. source rocks of Middle-Upper Ordovician in Kalpin Dawangou outcrop are in accord with the geologic time of MDICE and ESICE, and GICE have strong ties to the source rock of Lianglitag Fm. in basin. Abundant organic carbon burial is an important factor in genesis of positive isotope carbon excursions. Positive oxygen isotope excursion, conodont fauna turnover, decreased conodont total diversity, and the change of sedimentary facies indicated that dramatic changes of paleoceanographic environment of Early-Middle Ordovician in Tarim Basin started from the end of Darriwillian, and an obvious icehouse climate of Late Ordovician occurred in ESICE.

The Beijing Spectrometer Ⅲ（BESⅢ）is a general-purpose detector used for the study of τ-charm physics at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider Ⅱ（BEPC Ⅱ）.This paper presents our studies of the dE/dx measurement in the drift chamber of BESⅢ,which is important for the identification of charged *** applied to the dE/dx measurement in data reconstruction are *** our current dE/dx calibration,a resolution of about 6% has been obtained for minimum ionization particles,and a 3σ K/πseparation is obtained for momenta up to 760 MeV/*** results meet the design goals of the BESⅢ drift chamber.

Estimation of the Anthropogenic Heat Release Distribution in China from 1992 to 2009

Stable light data from Defense Meteorological Satellite program （DMSP）/Operational Linescan System （OLS） satellites and authoritative energy consumption data distributed by National Bureau of Statistics of China were applied to estimating the distribution of anthropogenic heat release in China from 1992 to 2009. A strong linear relationship was found between DMSP/OLS digital number data and anthropogenic heat flux density （AHFD）. The results indicate that anthropogenic heat release in China was geographically concentrated and was fundamentally correlated with economic activities. The anthropogenic heat release in economically developed areas in northern, eastern, and southern China was much larger than other regions, whereas it was very small in northwestern and southwestern China. The mean AHFD in China increased from 0.07 W m-2 in 1978 to 0.28 W m-2 in 2008. The results indicate that in the anthropogenic heat- concentrated regions of Beijing, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Pearl River Delta, the AHFD levels were much higher than the average. The effect of aggravating anthropogenic heat release on climate change deserves further investigation.

Mires in boreal area had proved to be an important dissolved organic carbon （DOC） reserve for the sensitivity to climate change and human interfering. The study was focused on the temporal and spatial dynamics and controlling factors of DOC in a seasonallywaterlogged mire （SLM） and perennially-waterlogged mire （PLM） in the Sanjiang Plain, Northest China. In the two mires, DOC concentrations in both surface water and upper soil strata experienced pronounced seasonal variation. DOC concentrations in the surface waters were the greatest and averagely was 47.82 in SLM and 34.84 mg/L and PLM, whereas that in soil water at 0.3-m depth had little difference （20.25 mg/L in SLM and 26.51 mg/L in PLM）. Results revealed that DOC concentrations declined 5-8 times vertically from the surface down to groundwater. DOC in the groundwater only was in a very small part with the average concentration of 5.18 mg/L. In relation to the surface water, DOC concentrations varied positively with temperature just before 8 August, and only in early spring and later autumn DOC concentrations exhibited identifiable spatial trends along with standing water depths in PLM. It was supposed that the influences from standing water depth took effect only in conditions of low temperature, and temperature should be the most powerful factor controlling DOC dynamics in the mires. Redox potential （Red） showed negative relationship with DOC values while total nitrogen （TN） and the majority of free ions in the soil solution exhibited no relationship. High soil TOC/TN ratio and low redox potentials also led to DOC accumulation in the mires in the Sanjiang Plain.

Rayleigh-Taylor instability of three fluid layers with two interfaces in cylindrical geometry is investigated analytically. The growth rates and the amplitudes of perturbation on the two interfaces are obtained. The feedback factor from outer to inner interface is larger than that from inner to outer interface under the same conditions. The growth rate on the initially unstable interface is larger than the corresponding result in planar geometry for low mode perturbation. The two interfaces are decoupled for a larger mode number perturbation. The dependencies of the amplitudes of perturbation on different initial conditions are analyzed. The negative feedback effect from initially stable interface to another unstable interface is observed. In the limit of infinity inner radius and finite shell thickness, the results in planar geometry are recovered.

The aim of this study was to develop a general-purpose electric off-road robot vehicle by using automatic control *** vehicle prototype used in this study was a commercially-purchased electricity utility vehicle that was designed originally for manual operations.A manipulating unit,an automatic steering system and a speed control system were developed and integrated into a CAN-bus network for operating on functions(forward,reverse,park or stop),realizing desired steering angles and maintaining a constant speed,respectively,in the mode of *** autonomous navigation system based on RTK-GPS and IMU was used to evaluate the performance of the newly developed off-road *** tests showed that the maximum error in speed control was 0.29 m/s and 0.22 m/s for speed tests and autonomous runs,*** lateral offset was less than 10 cm in terms of straight paths,indicating that the automatic steering control system was of good performance.
